I have an imperial guard army that last time I counted had around 160 infantry models. Need less to say I don't have the money to buy them all chimeras, plus I love the idea of grunts slogging forward on foot. I do have one chimera I got in an imperial guard battle force and I almost never use it. On the other hand I love hellhounds, so I decided to convert my chimera to a hellhound. I have one forgeworld hell hound from the long ago days when I had disposable income, so I modeled it after that. C&C wlecome and appreciated.
So this is how the project started:

and this is how it's shaping up:

and here are some more detail shots:

heres a shot with the the gunner from the chimera kit. I'm not sure if I prefer it with him or just the small hatch. Any one have a preference?

Since the pics I've added two aquilla to the sides of the turret, replaced the tanks on the back with one of the forgeworld kreig air filters, and taken the small taks and moved them to the top of the large fuel tank. Still need to finish the rear bumper, add some pipes, and create some supports for the fuel tank. I will add new pics as it progresses.

Awesome! More Hellhounds. Just what your IG needed!

Looking good. I think it looks better without the gunner, though.

I like the gunner, as it ties the tank together with the infantry footsloggers.

I guarantee you that I'm not really as smart as the test says:

Tobewillie, I figured with all those 4+ saves your necron warriors have I could use some more St:6 AP:4 templates
I've actually been meaning to convert this chimera since forever. I think almost every time I've used it has been a proxy for a hellhound or a basilisk.

I like your scratchbuilt gun, I went for a similar look using a FW dreadnought weapon and I left oriented sideways because I couldn't think of a good way to turn it up

yeah, I had a hard time getting the flamer to be vertical as well. I wanted to try and use the stock turret for the chimera, but once I started working I realized just how thin that turret is. No way was a flamer fitting in there so I had to scratch build a new turret from plastic card. It was a pain and looked awful at first, but with some judicious sanding and trimming I think it turned out okay.
