The reason being is that I like to play WYSIWYG, and I have a couple members of a Grey Hunters squad holding two-handed rifles, but I'd like to represent their chainswords on the models, strapped either to their belts or backpacks. I don't recall ever seeing unattached chainsword bits. Thanks.

There is one kit i think the Imperial fist shoulder pad pack that has a detached chain sword.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Not that that will help much since it only comes with one and the rest of the kit is useless to you.

Looking on a bits website I see that the "CHAOS RENEGADE MILITIA ENFORCER" and "DEATH KORPS OF KRIEG COMMAND UPGRADE SET" come with handless chainswords, Forgeworld kits.
All other I have seen have hands and arms on them

Give them combat blades instead, it's the same in game terms and it looks stupid if everyone is running around with a chainsword. Plus you get them with tactical squads and all kinds of imperial guard.

That is a good idea Almarine, I really don't like chainswords as a rule, they aren't "shiny" .

Big ol combat blades from the scout box will work. http://hoardobits.com/cgi/hob/shop.pl?cat1=Bits&cat2=Warhammer%2040k&cat3=-Space%20Marines&cat4=%3EScouts&page=&view=WH40-SMSC-02
Also the Catachan heavy weapon teams have huge blades (I think they even have teeth on them, bonus for a SW player) http://www.thewarstore.com/product26686.html
Enjoy!
P.S.: Also, even if you only have chainblades with hands on them, there is no reason why you cant cut the hand off the arm (save the arm for other conversions) and remove the hand with clippers and shaving off the extra bits with a knife. Another thought is a extra long bayonet (like the scout knives for example) could fulfill wysiwyg. Couple different things to think about.

My Grey Hunters that have two-handed poses all have a SM combat blade in a sheath strapped across their butts or down their legs.

Yup. That's your best bet if looking for handless chainswords. Pretty cool bits as well.

That would be really swell. You wouldn't be able to point me toward a screenshot, would you?

It's the sword off of this sprue. You used to get this with every assault marine.

GL finding them too.
Put combat blades on the guns as bayonets, or the sheathed combat blades molded onto or on sprues count as WYSIWYG for CCW.

You could make som. just cut off the end at both tides of the hand. and get some plastic tubes. combine for a handless sword.

I think that the new thunder wolf cavalry box includes un-held chainswords, which is perfect if your including them in your army too
No sorry my mistake they have hands holding them with no arm
