So for the OFCC tourney this year I decided to do a Russian themed army. While I love the Valhallans, there just wasn't enough variety in figures to make a full army to my taste, so I elected to add Vostroyans, making it an almost Tsarist themed army. Anyway, I have the initial scheme down, now just need to start painting in earnest. What follows is the first four that I've completed (save basing). I finally got the muscle memory to properly blend the white, although I need lots of practice still. C&C welcome and appreciated.

Takes about six hours per guy. I'll start assembly lining soon

I added patina weathering powder to break up the mass amount of metallics

Trying to do wood grain on all the guns. The detail work on these models is intense

Looking good, the white works for winter flak. Good luck with the rest of the army!

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project!

They are def not in any standard colors. I kinda went Cossack themed, but I wainted them to have white coats to match the valhallans I haven't done yet. And yeah, the gun is crooked lol.I don't know how I didn't notice.

So after a pretty hectic week I managed to get the first two squads of the Vostroyans ready to paint, and finished a sarge. So here are the pics:

So that's all for now, next is to paint 'em up. My first Valhallan squad should be planetside any day now. More updates to come!

I think he looks far too father christmas. I think I'll paint the trim of his coat the yellow like the rest. Original plan was red for Sarge, Silver for Lieutenant, Gold for Col.

Will add the models after I paint them

Finally got through an even number of men. Ten down, 95 to go. Still no full squad done, but they'll come. Still need to magnatize the HW teams. Anyway, on to painting some valhallans for a bit. Lemme know what ya'll think!

Weathering aill be done at teh end, all at once to maintain consistency.

Not happy with his face, but with so many (105) I figure he'll get lost in the cracks. I need to be faster to make the deadline

[Thumb - 015.JPG]
Dirt on his coat needs to transistion smoother. The muscle memory will come with practice

These bases will be covered in clear resin to look like ice for the valhallans.
