Hello m8.
Maybe you should try wash the model using devlan mud or badab black (i prefer devlan) and then try a bit highlighting some areas.

I use bhaal red on my berzerkers and bloodletters though in order to make mini darker i use a lot.. i ll make a thread soon for the rest of my army as i ve recently posted my finished Night Lords. you can check my berzerkers then.
So give it a try and use more bhaal, or try devlan if you dont come up with something you like.
