They look good! Neat painting and basing. Only thing I can complain about are the pics.... they're a bit blurry, so I can't see the details....
Its better to take your pics in sunlight. And use the macro setting.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the squad!

Yeah the quality was pretty poor, I had to take it on my ipod because my camera died.
Thanks for the photography tips they really helped. Bought a new camera today so hopefully this image will be better.

Well even though we can't see the details, it looks like a very clean paintjob. Well done. Be sure to keep us updated when you paint the rest of the marines.

Thanks both. The steel bolters were kind of an accident Ive always liked old school red bolters, might paint them that way on some sternguard or something like that.
I'll be sure to post up the other five marines asap, Im so slow at painting though, and I havent found much time the last few days. Ive got an AOBR dread to paint next and I just ordered Ezekial for my Librarian, really looking forward to painting those.

I like the steel bolters! The half black ones look good, but yours do as well. Though they might also look good in red.....

The Dread is next as soon as I finish these, I'm so slow... The Termies are going to have to wait for now as I just bought a Librarian and sniper scouts. And the Orks I'm letting my 9 year old daughter paint as she is nagging me to death about them
The skin tone or the Sergeant is Tallarn flesh and Ogryn flesh wash and I'm going to add more highlights to it, might try my hand at a shaven head look also.

Works in progress don't go in Showcase. That area is for finished models only. Moving to P&M. If you are planning to make this an ongoing project log, PM a moderator and request it to be moved to P&M blogs. Thanks.

Thats really nice paintjob for first models in a first army
One suggestion: actually, consider painting the bolters in more colors than just boltgun - if you don't like black, you can go with red or perhaps even blue. You did a good job on that one marine with a painted gun, it makes him really stand out.

Thanks, I've painted the next batch with black casings. I'm going to stick the plain ones in a combat squad with the missile launcher for now, might repaint them all eventually.
I wasn't happy with the bases, so I just got done repainting them in scorched brown. Probably going to drybrush with graveyard earth and Deneb stone, did this on a test model with some static grass and it looked pretty cool.
Almost finished on the whole squad finally, just need to highlight them. Just had a go at free handing the Crimson Fists logo on a test model, what do you guys think?

Getting there slowly... hope I get faster at painting as I practice or I'll never finish an army. My sergeant is finished other than edge highlights and the base, I really like how the shaved head came out.

Thanks for the heads up, I would of normally put the fist on the other shoulder but I made a mess of it, so technically that's my second CF icon
Been busy with family stuff so I haven't done much lately, but I've had a chance to mess with the new paints a bit. Alaitoc Blue and Hoeth Blue, seem kinda meh for Crimson fist highlights imo.
Just took delivery of an Airbrush and some new models, so I've got a razor back, 5 scouts a libby and a dread to paint. Hopefully the airbrush will speed things up a bit.

Ohhhh, I likey. As a CF player I have a couple of tips:
Firstly the bitz packs with CF shoulder pads and other stuff for them are your best friend, they are really good!
Secondly, and this is really to my taste and you may think otherwise (though not from where you are going so far by the looks of things), keep the armour a dark blue otherwise they look like Ultra-smurfs, and nobody wants that do they?
Next, try to make the fists a little brighter than the armour, it makes an excellent focal point.
Finally, try not to make the models too focussed on red and blue and metal. Bring in some other colours just to break it up a bit (for example I always paint the loincloth parchment-y things in a cream colour) otherwise they just look a little TOO focussed.
I like where this is going though. Good Luck
Also always try to put dead orks on the bases. It's where they belong

Thanks for the tips Imperial monkey, I wanted to use as much red as I could get in at first but I am now converted, looking at your gallery pics they look much better with the lighter coloured robes etc to break up the blue and red. I love your gallery btw, your red rocks, how did you get it to look so good?
Funny you should mention the bitz packs, I just received the Tank pack for my razor back in the mail a few days ago.
My progress has been painfully slow this week, kids are off school so I've been busy with that. And the new paint range has meant I've spent most of my free time trying to figure out a new recipe for blue, and painting test models.

Well, it was using the old paints, so I don't know how it would convert across but the recipe is: Merchite red Blood Red highlights (Optional Blazing orange highlights; sometimes looks better without this, sometimes it helps, just take it by ear) Baal Red wash. And I'm glad I could help, the CF ae by far the coolest Marines fluff-wise
