After some initial hesitation and helpful advice from Varl on a painting thread, I finally decided to make a blog, so here I am. But my ever present morals forced me to promise myself that I wouldn't start this unless I was being productive.
Well. Yesterday I fulfilled that promise by building a whole Baneblade for my friend, (Albeit not the turret, which I had completed a month before, and most of one track, which my friend built.) It was, after getting by GW's less than perfect instructions, surprisingly simple to put together. And after that, I was in a creative mood so I did some work on the sentinel, the starting point of my imperial guard army.

It's almost finished.
I must say though, I am a somewhat amateur painter and modeler. So please, forgive any err's I may make. And if you would, tell me what you think about my work.

About this blog though, and more importantly, what this blog is about. I am building an Imperial guard regiment, my goals are to have an army that can play either regular 40k games or apocalypse. And while I have to adhere to GamesWorkshop's imperial guard rules, I do plan to convert to my pleasure. Also, FLUFFY. Yes there will be fluff, it will be long, it will be intense, it will probably take me ages to write. But there WILL be fluff.

I will try to post pictures of the sentinel so far after this post.

Wax on.

Wax off.

I feel that the sentinel is done, but I would like to wait for your opinions before adding the decals and finishing the assembly. (It's not glued together yet, just painstakingly balanced.)
Also, my apologies if I am posting too many photos for one thing.

Ha! no apologies, more photos the better!

I dunno what i think about the sentinel, it looks good, menacing and dark, but I think to make all of its details standout on the tabletop your gonna need to put on another colour somehow. Maybe add some lighter greys in an urban-camo effect. Or paint some machinery metallic.

Ahh, thanks Spartan. Sorry about getting back too you so late. I've had a busy week.

I wonder wether the contrast you think should be there will be achieved when I put on the Regimental markings... Hmm.

Also, there is going to be snow on it, which should add some nice effects.

Nice work on the plasma glow. I personally had mine looking a lot brighter then yours but its sweet non the less. Also don't rush on the name its an important part of any guard army it really adds life to it.

Thanks guys! I'm very exited to finish it! I just hope life doesn't keep getting in the way...

I just found out what was going to be a probably three week trip could now become a three MONTH trip. Well. That's ok with me. All I had for an army was the sentinel, and now I'm in a town with a GamesWorkshop store. Time permitting I'll get my tools shipped over here and push together a 500 pt army so I can finally play some games with REAL players. Not my shabby local friends.

This will be interesting, I cant wait to find out what happens.

Well, it's been quite awhile since I've posted anything on here. This is mainly due to the fact that I've been traveling continuously since my last post, and thusly have had nothing to do with Warhammer lately. (That three months turned out to be three weeks, then three weeks in another place, then three weeks in another place etc. Please, continue at your leisure.)
Ergo, nothing to post about. And yes. That does mean my lovely sentinel is sitting at home in my drawer still unattached to it's base and basically the same since the pictures I posted awhile ago. Poor neglected little bugger.

So? Does this post mean I'm back from vacation? No. But it does mean that I've been spending some time thinking about the future of my 40k career. It involves mustard gas. Oh so glorious mustard gas.
And by that, I mean Death Korps Of Krieg.

I've rather decided that I want to set a collection goal for an Apocalypse army. It will be broken down into three parts. Death Korps at around 2500 points, An Airborne battle force at another 2500 or so, and Space Wolves at about 1000. Although granted to get that 6000 point limit I may have to ditch the Space wolves ( ) And add another 1k onto the Death Korps in the way of Super heavy tanks.
Thats a rather large army, and it's going to be rather costly. So for now I'm going to focus on smaller games of 40k, and that means building a Death Korps Regiment. Which means the past three nights of sleeplessness have been spent on the Army list below. Considering this totals up to about 2000 points, (That other 500 is reserved for a shadowsword.) It's pretty big. And while I hate admitting this, I had to cut corners to get this much. The Forgeworld DKOK codex is really fun. And actually suits my play style brilliantly. But that makes it really hard to hold back and not just throw in everything I want to.

So I'd like your help, your critique, how you think this list will do on it's own, and then once I post the rest, how you think they will do as a team.
For your reference here is the Death Korps mini codex that Forgeworld apparently produced. Don't ask me where I found it. Because i don't know. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/k/kreig.pdf

This list is meant to mush the enemy up good with artillery fire the first turn, then use the Hades to perform surgical strikes on powerful enemy units or vital objectives. The Command squad, artillery, and Chem-hounds will be deployed in a defensive position while the Hades and their respective Engineer's will be held in reserve. Take note that in Apocalypse this technique will be used in conjunction with massed aircraft and the strategic asset "Careful Planning" which allows me to bring up to half of my reserves in first turn and the second half the second turn. Apparently without having to roll for it.

I have one serious question though; Can my commander issue orders to the static artillery? (Earthshakers and Quad launchers) They technically are not vehicles, and have crews, but I just don't know.
