ok so i'ive got back into warhammer and decided after a major chaos army i'd go for something... more interesting so back to tau but i cant just build a standard army built a fiew different moddels.
C&C any tips would be great.

I like them. Consider covering up the pilots seats on the piranha if you don't plan to put them in so it looks more... sleek.

I Was thinking of getting some clear plasticard and creating an enclosed cockpit but TBH i've only done basic gap fills with plasticard ive moved the post to http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/440207.page as i will be updating when i get time with new bits any tips with plasticard thickness/ material i already now to score and snap but thats about it lol

He already knows, he acknowledged the fact it was the wrong forum above the first picture in his post.

I like the kitbash vehicle, I'd second the suggestion of putting the canopy on the cokpit, if you wanted to you could paint the glass on as a cool blue? I wouldn't attempt to paint on the inside details as it will look wrong when viewed at anything but the optimal angle

thanx for the comments thats a great idea like tinted glass thanx for the tip avitar. @ mullet_steve i get you so the glass looks tinted it would be easier to round the shell off with greensstuff great idea thanx... so will this post be moved to the corect forum now sorry im new to this

Thanx again Avatar how would i get the otherone deleted or should i just keep them both? and how would i delete threads just the triangle and ask a mod to delete? going to be updating as often as i can but most of my time is spent at work so i'm sorry if progress is slow anyone got any pictures or ideas to share? thank you again all for your replies and just for looking

Was also thinking of putting heavy drones with burstcannons instead of the carbine drones on the wings but i dont want to over burden the model with big weapons what do you guys think?

some PIP pictures need to do the last layer of red wich will be gore red and tidy up any mistakes but all in all i'm happy with the colours c&c please

They just need a few details picked out on like numerals etc on the dark colour helmets and drone domes.

A few flashes like that make a big difference to the overall look.

I like the modded piranha, and your color scheme is pretty cool too.

I really like the streamlined xv-8, it has the same sleek look as the xv-9. Moving the jetpacks inwards really helps mitigate the blockiness of the standard xv-8's.

@ kilkrazy i will be looking to do something of the sort when i get comfortable with painting again that is the first i have painted in over 5 years and where it may be like riding a bike for some its more like rocket science for me lol.

@ MOD yeh that was my idea so they looked liked they could back up firewarriors in the confines of ruined cities but the new suits are suppose to be more rounded so im only making 3 of these guys for now.

@ shredsmore thanks i'm looking to do an attack wing of the piranhas and ive changed the drones to burst cannons now will update with pics when i get plasicard for the cockpit at the moment its in bits again :s

just bought some plasticard got the starter set of ebay so my questions are:
A- what thickness should i use for the cockpit on the pirhana?
B- i wanted to have a rounded cockpit so how would i bend the card to round it of?

I also bought some resin but i was alittle giddy and bought the wrong one (Ariba Water Clear Casting Resin) and as i have already purchased it i was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what i can actualy use it for. i was thinking glass panes for scenery and such but thought dakka might have some better ideas.

Plasticard will only bend in one direction at a time if you want rounded you are going to have to heat it and then form it and this is very difficult.... the only other thing is to make it more boxy with several facetts that bend in one direction then either fill and sand or try to just sand it little by little untill you get the shape you want.... You sure you wouldn't rather go the easy route and make it really boxy?

so could i make arches as supports then fill the gaps then all i have to worry about is the front bit wich could be rounded using green stuff do you think that would be a viable option? or i might have a look for a model jet with a cock pit that fits and make molds of this as i will be making another 2 of these. thankyou for you help and as soon as i get the material and time i will give it a try and post some pics.

That could work, it will be easier if you can find a canopy that will work for you however

i'll just give it a go if it dosent work i can always pull it off and start from scrach this may be a silly but if i heated it up what would be the easiest way of forming it if i have something to form it round but no vacume former? thanks for your help sory for being a pain

I love the pirana conversion. An enclosed cockpit would really top it off.

Thanx sick six i should have some kind of cannopy in place in the next couple of weeks just waiting on the supplies. should be getting some more painting done tomorrow night if my xbox doesn't tempt me away haha soon as i get my firewarriors painted i can make a start on the battlesuits and then buying more pretty things like xv9's

just recived my plasticard and some rapid mould sticks but the missus insists i try to build the cannopy with clear plasticard and i will be attempting to build it within the next week so i will try to get some pics up sorry about the very slow progress guys but i'm pushed for time and as mentioned above unfortunatly (at times) i have an xbox haha
