This is round 3 at the colonial GT, My sisters of battle vs George

Well... the first two rounds I had run into hard times... I had Mr Dameon Green first round play a tight game with me where neither of us were feeling all to hot and I was not playing aggressive enough. His excellent generalship beat me round 1! (17-8 Battle points)
Round 2 vs Collin left us both with a tie... 150+boys in a spearhead ultimate draw mission is rough... (12-11 battle points)

And this game I'm doing the report for was one of my more fun cause George was such a good guy... but was also a turning point for the event for me...

Here are some pictures of the armies...

His List (as far as i can remember!)

Fateweaver
Herald of Tzeetch with Bolt on chariot
3 Tzeentch horror units of 5 with bolt
a single 7 man plaguebearer unit
3 deamon princes with wings, mark of tzeentch, and bolt
3 6 man fiend squads

Pregame:
Odd mission, one unit that can't normally outflank had to, and one that can't normally deepstrike had to. I elected to use a rhino to deepstrike from my dominions, and outflank a troop choice in a rhino after seeing where the objectives were... speaking of which... read on and check out the map.
The mission was d3+2 objectives and we rolled and ended up with 3 objectives (skull markers). George won the die roll to go first and elected to go second. i deployed something like the picture below:

Before the game stared, i decided to create bubbles within "my area" that he couldn't drop into. Using my scout moves and first turn movement, the board then looked like this:

I tried to make sure the bubbles were about 11 inches in diameter. Reason being, the average scatter is 7 inches, so if he dropped into the middle... they would on average scatter and mishap. I was hoping he would drop into the center of the board... and he did : )

My turn 1 with move is complete... i popped smoke on everything... i knew how many bolts he had and being more mobile than him was crucial.

His turn 1. He gets his preferred wave... Fateweaver, 2 fiend units, 2 princes, and the Herald Originally he drops fateweaver further back... but he scatters 11 inches forwards! the rest of his army comes in around fate weaver, the 2 princes scattering out of the reroll bubble... He runs his fiends into the bubble, and shoots with fateweaver, doing no damage... smoke for the win!

For Lack of a better unit on vassal... i used a Hive tyrant for fate weaver. and some other nids for the fiends... Also... at this moment i realized i didn't put the DCA unit in the other two pictures and NO i am not going to go back and fix them! I'll add them in here cause I just caught it... :(

My turn 2... So... 12 fiends just dropped down in front of me with fateweaver there to back them... what am i going to do here...
I move dump out the DCA and uriah (making sure his is in coherency but far from making it to combat this turn!) to charge the fiends this turn, move the dominion squad with 2 meltas out of the woods towards the fiends, I dump out the dominion sin the immolator and move the sisters of battle squad up to do some shooting. ST celestine jumps and gets within 6 inches of the fateweaver... gonna send her in just to tie him down.

I shoot with meltas and bolt pistols with both dominion squads at the fiends and the sisters dump out to add more bolters to the mix. Uriah shoots his shotty to add another wound in. Killing all but 2 fiends in one unit with all of the rerolls. I made sure to use my twinlinked faith (dominions) and reroll 1s on the sisters unit to cause maximum damage. Celestines flamer catches fateweaver and 1 remaining fiend. neither take a wound.

The exorcists take down one of the demon princes and drops the herald to 1 wound.

The last dominion squad moves up and dumps out dropping 3 melta shots on the prince in the back field, he saves 1 and survives with 2 wounds left.

The right flank sisters move up towards the far board edge objective.

Now I do what most wouldn't. I charge the demons with sisters. Thats right... I CHARGE DEMONS

Watch carefully my assault moves to get a multi charge in here. My plan is to kill off the fiends without taking damage to my DCA

The fiends HAVE to consolidate into the dominion squad on the right (although we end up measuring and 1 fiend can make it to a DCA... to my advantage!), the dominions on the left bridge the celestine/fateweaver into the show also, the DCA have ONE fiend that can swing into them.

The DCA go first, with rerolls to hit and str 4... the first fiend squad even with fateweaver rerolls explodes... and half of the second one also dies from combat res (good thing he consolidated into that one DCA model so i could swing at BOTH squads ) The Dominions soak up the fiends counter attacks, but not being power weapons i only lose a couple. The fiends and fateweaver lose by 8 wounds, and they end up passing all of their saves except 2, spreading some wounds onto the fiends (one had the str6 upgrade).

It will come, I'm sure.

Worst case frgsinwntr can just submit a summary battle report to be published in White Dwarf, rather than writing up a full cod... er, a battle report to post here.

I haven't waited with this much anticipation for something SoB-y since the codex debacle!

Nice armies, both of them.

Adam's Motto: Paint, Create, Play, but above all, have fun. -and for something silly below-

"We are the Ultramodrines, And We Shall Fear No Trolls. bear this USR with pride".

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

You must recite every rule of Dakka Dakka. BACKWARDS.

I've updated up to my turn 2 assault phase, the pictures and such took me a 1.5 hours on this computer... I'll finish more when i get a chance next.

Sorry the measurements are off on the pictures... i had to learn vassal to do this...

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to the rest if you can spare the time. That is a pretty good idea to use vassal for bat reps.
