So today I decided to take a stab at blending.

What do you guys think? Any C&C is welcome

Please ignore the rest of the model though as it's still a wip by the way.

I think it looks pretty good. Definitely better than any I have tried. One thing I would do is maybe make the tip brighter and the bottom darker to give it more contrast. But maybe it is the photo. Either way it is looking pretty good.

Not bad work, it's fairly smooth and your gradient is good, but I concur with uncool villain, perhaps make the opposite points lighter and darker respectively, you don't have to use much paint to do it either sometimes just a hint of brighter/darker colour on the high and low parts can make a huge difference.

It's quite subtle, which over something as long as the sword means you lose a lot of impact. If the base starts from a black and works up to a white this will really start popping.

You've got good smooth transitions and it's not obvious where the colours start and stop - well done.
