I'd give him the black shoulder pads to help him stand out more from the rest of the unit.

I think he looks good.
I agree though, that a black shoulderpad would make him looks more contrasting, however I cannot fault you on that nifty free-hand on the kneepad. That's sweet! Gives him a lot of character. A thin black wash in the reassess would help give some depth also.
Just a thought. :3

A different take on the backpack, but definitely compliments the BA red armor. I also like the kneepad freehand. He is painted well and is ready to lead a sqd

What color(s) did you use for the helm?
