Hello,
im looking for help concerning a picture of an imperial guardsmen i found (seen in attachement)
id like to build a platoon with a similar aesthetic as seen in the picture .

I really like the chainmail and ragged impression.

Just to give you an impression of the scale of my conversions (rather simple =) ) :
My last platoon was made of warzone bauhaus plastic bodys with pig iron militia heads.

>here i am somewhat at a loss as to which body + which head i could pick
i thought maybe wargames factory huscarls bodys http://wargamesfactory.com/webstore/hammer-of-the-gods/viking-huscarls
with cadian arms
which heads i dont really know yet

> or maybe just cadians with added gear and a headswap?

I am looking forward to hear your opinions how to bring the flair of the picture to the tabletop.

ps: I have to add that sadly price is a factor in all my projects =).

pps: Sorry for any mistakes and if this topic was already taken care of and i just didnt find it .

greetings!

I'm not sure how close this will get you to the concept but the torso kind of reminds me of these guys:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat720005a&prodId=prod1050060

It'd take some GS to put a boot over any exposed bone feet but the end result would be the mail/plate/robe thing that those guys seem to have going on.

Headwise you'd likely need GS and any bare headed model from WFB or 40k, for a good variety Flagellants are nice but the head cover will need to be greenstuffed on.

And then weapon arms you will likely find that either Cadian or Renegade guard arms work, renegades carry autoguns not lasguns but thats more an aesthetic thing if you want to count is as a lasgun.

Beyond that raid your bitz box for grenades, pistols, holsters and bayonets and you'll end up somewhere near your concept.

To summarise:

Graveguard body/legs
Bare head
Cadian Arms/Weaponry
Cadian Accessories

hey melcavuk, thanks for your thoughts, i really like the graveguard idea ! The bodys really fit very well

also just to take bare heads and modify them could be possible

maybe if i buy graveguard legs and torso at ebay it could be in the price range i hope to achive =)

another possibility im considering is just to take cadians and modify them with chainmal patches and devotional parchments made by green stuff .
I think ill make a test model and see how far i get

Goodluck with it, you'll probably find it takes several attempts to get it how you want but when you're happy post up a pic of it.

Taking Cadians and apply green stuff should be good.

My advice doing maille is to flatten it out son some plasticard and texture it, it should look loosely like
((((((((((((((((((
))))))))))))))))))
((((((((((((((((((

Apply on the model only when it's half cured so you don't ruin such texture.

On the helmets, I guess you can file the sides and add gs, but keep the imperial inocography.
