I am going to start by saying he was a fantastic sculpt. He was also extremely fun to paint.
Here are the pics in all there unflattering glory (click on them for super large):
C+C Greatly appreciated.

BTW the blue on the axe head is actually brighter in person.

Wow! That looks fantastic! I love how the blue and the red go together so well.
BTW the blue on the axe head is actually brighter in person.

Oh, that would make it even more awesome!

Great job on that, and I hope to see some more models!

I like how the axe handle has a distinct 'formed-from-the-crystallized-tormented-souls-of-the-damned' look.

The models's looking awesome. You know, here in Antwerp 'Krel' is another word for being piss drunk. I approve of his name.

Hi

Miniature looks cool, but if you want some criticism, you'll get it

The most important rule is being critical. When you end up the job, look at it and decide is it really you wanted to get. This helps a lot, because most people well know where they did something below their expectations. I'm not telling here about the paintjob, but about the pictures. You know that they don't show actual look of the model. So I encourage you to experiment next time to make the better pictures.

So, I was critical, its time to be constructive

1. take on your picture exactly it you do want to show. Do you really want to show the bent sheet of paper? (red arrow)
2. If there is no way to use one sheet horizontal rather two vertical - blend the edges (blue arrow). But for such small models just use one sheet with vertical orientation.
3. Why do you use a strong lightsource located behind the model (green shadow)? The lightsource behind the model is contour light. It is used to outline the dark model on the dark background. Using the contour light with the white backgound is pointless.

General - you have problems with white ballance. You should set the white ballance in your camera for the light you use. Try out making the pictures on blue paper for printers. The quality and color representation will be much better even with your current lightsources.

Regarding the model. It is really good. In my opinion the cloak need some more work, but rest is really good.

Sorry if I was rude. It wasn't my intention but sometimes I find that neutral sentences in my language may be a little rude in English.

You weren't rude, that sort of information is exactly what I'm looking for, thank you very much for the thoughtful analysis.

BTW, what did you do too it? It looks so much better!

From personal experience:

1. get a decent yet cheap camera (I use a Cannon powershot a540 - you can get it for around $20 nowdays)
2. get a small and sturdy tripod
3. print out some gradient backgrounds
4. set the camera to manual, choose macro mode, set apeture to around 4 (play around with it till you find something good)
5. set the iso to lowest (iso 80 is the lowest for the camera I use)
6. use one relatively strong light source in front of the mini, or slightly to the side
7. use the timer
8. place your mini in front of the gradient background (i use a half closed netbook to hold the background)
9. focus it, click, and wait 10 seconds
10. import the photo into some decent photo manipulating software (i use Gimp - powerful and free)
11. do automatic color balance
12. crop the picture to remove all the extra background
13. resize the picture to some normal size ( i like to have all my photos 800 pixels wide)

This is the photo quality that I get using this cheap method:

I will print off some gradients tomorrow, and am getting *ahem* "legally" Adobe Photoshop from a friend. I will think about a new camera too. I think I will get a decent one, that should last me a while. If I do get the camera I will defiantly get a tripod. Once again, thank you all for the advice and compliments!
