Shal-Ka could feel the mon-keigh's approch, but the sheer intensity of the... Thing had her heart racing. Such a rolling mass of sheer ferocity, unbridled rage, and scalding, howling bloodlust, the warlock had never before experienced. It's very existence echoed through the warp like a shockwave from a massive explosion. At first, she had mistaken it for a daemon, some messenger of the blood god, so intense was this being's fury.

She was unafraid, though, as she tied the last link in her braid before slipping her helmet over her head. She was a warlock of Craftworld Lugganath. Warrior and Seer both. As Shal-Ka took up her witchblade, a vision flashed before her, of the thing's arrival, just beyond the door of this hut that served as her quarters in this campaign. Explosive bolts blew the front off of the drop-pod, and out it stepped; matte armor with a horrifying, skull-faced helm. Baleful red lenses glowed in the mask's sockets, and even beneath the tough, but flexible armor it wore, she could see the slaughter-thing's muscles ripple and contract. She glimpsed into his mind and recoiled; he was a wash with insanity, reeking of psychosis. Stimulants, steroids, and adrenaline pumped through his veins. He could smell her. He could taste her.

She would replace her scent with that of his own filthy blood.

The thing tore her door off it's hinges, howling in feral rage as it raised its weapon and fired. Mass-reactive, rocket-propelled shells tore through the room, but this, Shal-Ka had seen. She dipped and weaved between the bullets, witchblade tucked behind her back as she suddenly charged, hand raised to release a seething blast of warp energy. This was no trouble for this once-human slaughter-thing, but it was but a diversionary measure. Rushing quickly, she aimed a devious thrust towards the assassin's kneecap, but his own blade, sweeping from the scabbard on his back, slapped the lunge away. The pistol was gone, replaced with long-hafted, shortbladed powersword. The left hand was tipped with razor sharp nails, and a vision flashed through Shal-Ka's mind of the horrible death that waited for her, if those talons scored but the lightest scratch. With a murderous fury, the mon-keigh rushed her again, his steroid-flooded muscles closing the distance with a rapidity that even a Harlequin could envy. Were she not gifted with visions of his movements, he would have slaughtered her.

Rushing her like a whirlwind, the mon-keigh pressed Shal-Ka back on her feet with repeated, heavy blows. Parrying skillfully, the warlock managed to make the assassin betray his balance, which she assisted with a sharp kick to the chest.

First blows had been hers, but the flesh-turned-fiend rose with unmitigated ferocity, charging her with a howl. As he continued his single-minded onslaught, battering her back. Yet as the assault continued, a swirling mist began to fill the room, and eventually, even the ultra-enhanced eyes of this murder-freak could not find her.

Shal-Ka saw her opening, and her witchblade sliced the mon-keigh's arm clean off of his torso. She was met with a ghastly chuckle, and five icy fingers in her breast. The agony began immediately. Her entire body wrenched as the neuro-toxins set every nerve in her body on fire. She could hardly feel herself thrash as she fell to the dirt, savage contortions rippling through her limbs. She felt her back arch once. Then again. Her body voided itself. Vomit filled her visor.

Then her spine broke with her contractions, and she knew no more.

The final score was Eversor 4, Warlock 3.

Talented writing, maybe if you get bored you can write the same story but from the perspective of the winner?

Now THAT, would be interesting. Though, to get the full effect, it may require a PCP binge, which I doubt would be good for me.

Your probably right, hard to write from the point of view of a drug fuelled homicidal lunatic.

You did a great job of subtely weaving some of the Warlock psychic powers into your fluff without blatantly saying then she cast conceal.

Tremendous job.

Oh, dear Emperor, Urx/Shal-Ka. XP While on the one hand, seeing an Eversor Assassin and a Warlock fall in love would be very cute in a 'looking for love in all the wrong places' kind of way, it would simultaneously be EXTREMELY depressing if played realistically, since Urx (The Eversor in question) would be likely to attempt murder on anyone ever at any time, and, if she ever managed to get him off his combat-stims, Urx would probably die going through withdrawal. Never mind the fact that said drugs have already severely stunted his lifespan... All in all, not looking to be a good match. We'll see, though. Popular demand, if it is actually popular, is a remarkable force. That said, I'm whipping up a surprisingly cheerful (for 40k, at any rate) Inquisitor story that may one day grace these fair forums. Only time will tell.
