Hello and time for a re-introduction for those that don't know me, my name is Clumpski and i welcome you to my first blog dedicated to my Thousand Sons, i need to point out that this is a new experience for me for both writing a blog as well as modding (i have done a few minor conversions before) let alone custom making my own models, so in short this is a major learning experience for me so please be supportive!

A few things you should know:

1) I'm new to blogs and a little slow to update, especially when i get stuck.
2) This is the first time I am doing such heavy modding conversions and actual custom modelling!
3) I'm not the fastest of workers and occasionally get a little OCD when it comes to painting (apparently!).
4) I'm dyslexic and self taught English, so i apologise in advance for my spelling and grammar, it isnt the best.
5) I ask the dakka dakka community to please keep me on track if you can, due to occasionally forgetting and loosing track of what I'm doing so please stop me!

Okay im going to be avoiding the workshop Sorcerers because honestly... i don't like them, there just isn't any real modifiability with them while i need to point out i do like parts of them but it doesn't justify the price getting them to be perfectly honest, especially since i found out from my tau broadsides that metal can be a pain to modify (and that was just the arms and rail guns).

First things first the back packs! Why not the sorcerer you ask? Because my plans for the Sorcerer body have come to a halt at the moment due to card issues so im still awaiting on the parts from GW and apart from the body and head the arms and wings are going to be custom made so please see the attached picture for first draft [scanner not working] of the wings.

I intend to use 1.5/1mm single core wire for the spine of the wing and 1/0.5mm (possibly fuse wire) for the limbs, with a thin skin of resin for the well... skin!

like i said this is a first draft, it isnt to scale but i drew the legs to show roughly what i was (while studying the backpack on a normal marine), and as for the tail? I'm not sure, i want one on him for the simple fact of helping with the guidance but as for the tip? I don't want a fancy arrow tip like most things you see in games (or on nids) but im not sure about having a rat tail, simply put im not sure about how to end the tail, any suggestions? i want something easy to construct, maybe a barbed tip?

Well i've finally gotten around to construction of the frame after a weekend of rather... annoying and irritating things!

First things first! I have finally sorted my order out with games workshop, the problems regarding payment have been fixed and the items required are currently zooming there way across England to my current location! WOO!

ANYWAY!

as for the production of the wings and to prove this isnt a one off post blog here is some of the current WIP.

If you're wondering what type of cable i am using below, it is a mains voltage cable (Rated 60 amp, 250 volts, [not including peak values]) and i need to state the following.

WARNING DO NOT TOUCH THE CABLE SHOWN UNLESS YOU KNOW IT IS SAFE! ESPECIALLY IF THIS IS SHOWING IN YOUR HOUSE! unless of course you a) know what your doing and b) your rated to do so!

Well its been a while Dakka Dakka, well i havent forgotten you, simply put i have been ill, very ill but painting i have done! and while i havent got any more WIP shots of the wings, i have got a finished picture (excluding minor details and basing him) as well as my first Rubric marine and Aspiring Sorcerer, so C&C please chaps its been a long time coming!

i like the thousand sons guys and the wings are cool.

It is my own goal to start up my own Thousand son army that i will field as C:SM in all likelihood, or as CSM if the new dex allows single cult armies

I've always been in love with them, there whole back-story is a major tragedy, and it didn't improve after there banishment, and honestly i fell in love with there whole bleeding heart story but i refused to get any until i was happy with my painting skills! hence this blog! :3

The Sorcerer looks a lot better ( and cooler) in real life and the photos don't do it justice.

your wings conversion is totally awesome! a great idea to work the wings straight into the backpack.
