Hey Everyone,

So this if my first tutorial and I have had people ask me how I did my blood so I figured I would post this. If you have questions or if something wasn't clear just let me know.

Note - The figures are not completely finished.

You will need the following products:
UHU GLUE
Fishing line
Old Brush
Tamiya Color - Clear Red
Tamiya Color - Smoke
Super Glue

This is great. I didn't realize the fishing line would hold its shape like that, I thought it would droop like thread. This should be dynamite for my Kroot.

One question: What kind of glue works together with this, I mean what consistency should it have etc.?

The glue I used (yellow bottle) is UHU. Umm... the consistency really shouldn't be very thick. If you don't have access to any UHU glue I would just suggest a somewhat loose clear glue (not sure that makes sense). I guess worst case scenario would be just pick up a clear glue and then if it is a thick glue just add less and then just get some fishing line and try to get a drop to stay at the end. After that if it sticks then you got it and if not then just add a bit more glue and keep testing until it works.

Sorry if this isn't the best way to explain it but I had to do a bit of trial and error as well to get it to my liking and even then it is never really the same. Hope this helps.

Good tutorial with very clear pics. After all the praise all over from other painters I bought myself some Tamiya Clear Red a few months ago. Still have to use it myself but with this tutorial I'm less scared to splatter gore around on finished miniatures. Never would have thought about using fishing line

Will this work with GW equivelants?

If so, what are they?

I tried, even adding PVA to inks/washes(or actually vice versa) but it's just a bit "off" in realism. Tamiya is so good because it is perfectly translucent and alcohol-based so it dries to a slightly darker colored nice droopy consistency even without using a lot of glue. Potentially you could use GW paints but only for splatter and not so much the blood drip without having to spend a lot of time modeling.

I tried out this tutorial this morning and it is fast and super-easy! With GW paints I used PVA or clear resin with a bit of red gore mixed in(now Khorne Red) and added a bit of dark blue or black to get the darker bits.

I think you could use like red gore mixed with some badab black/devlin mud wash and just mix it until you get the color you want. Like Adept Vai said the tamiya works since it is already the perfect consistency of blood.

I am wanting to do this >.< the trickiest part is deciding were to place said blood effects in a way that will look good and not over done >.< I am looking to do this on my chaos but struggling o.e

How moveable are models you use the line on by the way, do they still go to cases or take being moved well or??
for some reason I can see the paint on the line being prone to cracking or damage @.@

I agree you want to place the blood in a good place and get it right if the mini is in a position like it is moving you want to have it go with the flow if you will. I also have problems with over doing it. I like me some blood all over the place.

You would be surprised once it is all done it is surprisingly sturdy. I have tested this by pulling it off and it does take quite a bit more than you would think. I think it just depends on where the blood is and how you are storing and moving. I still think it is sturdy enough you really don't need to worry about it. I personally haven't had problems with cracking or damage on the paint line but if it is being touched/rubbed often I could see it happening.

I could also do this with blue eldar blood and green alien blood. So simplistic!

Thanks!

Yeah you can really do anything with it. I once used this to create a slime coming out of a pipe and had it dripping and worked really well. I wonder if you got the color and consistency right you could even to ice/water.

That would be easy i think, A blue wash and some water. You might need some extra glue to thicken it though.

Yeah you would want to make it more of an icicle and not so much of a drip so you would definitely want to use more glue.

Depends on the effect your trying to make. For instance you could to a Icecicle hanging from a Carnifex that is slowly melting. Or you do water in a half frozen stream that is on a base for a Voidraven or Meavy Weapon Team.
