Alright, so as is fairly well known by now, I plan to create a Dwarven City somewhere on the Dakka Server. So, in light of the large amount of posts regarding said topic, I decided to make my own thread for it to better plan, and not clog up the other thread.

It has been decided that the city is to be built in the mountains next to the Elves, providing us with trade, wood, and meat. ;P

As for the city itself, I'm thinking it should have a rather dark feel to it, with lots of obsidian, lava, and iron. My thought was to build it similar to the city shown HERE, but a cavern city might be cool too, so it all depends on what you all are thinking.

Lastly, if anyone wants to, I could use some help. I'm a fair builder, and familiar with both MC and Dwarves, but I'm brand new to this server~

Do what you want man. I mean Being far from the spawn is actually kinda good because it means you don't accidentally dig into somebody else's mine.

Alright, after giving it some thought, I've decided to narrow it down to two spots, Matt's, and Fett's. While I appreciate the other two, Matt's gives some fun conflict, trade, and possible allies/enemies, and Fett's gives a great location to start building at.

Let me know where, and what the style is. I'd still like to try and get a full bedrock-level tunnel network going between all our locations, though.

I am pleased to say that after scouting all the locations, I'm picking the mountains next to the Elf city to be our home~

It's one of your 'friendly' neighbouhood elves here, and I'm pleased that you chose the peaks near our 'Hometree'

And I suggest we build a trading outpost half way bettween our kingdoms, or maybe at the base of a mountain, that allows us to trade
say we build a mine cart track into you city that goes out the mountain into the trading post, you send ores and stuff in a chest minecart and in return we send you wood, meat, apples, wool (hopefully when I get some sheep to follow me) and maybe even potions? (once we get a brewing stand + a netherwart farm going)

We're not so nearly as far as you think, it's scarcely a 2 minute walk from the Tree to my Door. However, I have run into a TON of Problems, I keep hitting Caves, Ravines, and mines as I dig. We're almost out of space to build and the walk down is at least a hundred blocks.

Still, walking up hill, and with some of the elves possibly trying to break stuff (lol jks)

Alright, after a total and complete failure in trying to get us a Nether Portal, I've decided to focus on building the city itself. Therefore, I will need some help. So, anyone who helps build may keep any ores they find, excluding half of any diamonds, and will be given food and shelter.

Can you send me were on the mpa it is please? (map link on this topic). Since I can't go on the server, I might build some stuff in creative as ideas. Im bored in Minecraft anyways.

il gladly help out when im online! Il most likely donate half of the coal i find to make torches for this project

Well il be pretty useless for the starting portion of this as i just lost everything trying to hike over to the elves tree, the plan was get to the tree then the dwarf city co-ordinates but alas an enderman got me.... not sure why he got angry all of a sudden, he was at the top of a good 50 block high cliff and just started teleporting down then he munched on me n all my tools and stacks of iron

At least this way il be able to start anew in a large community project with nothin holdin me down

I told a buddy of mine that the enderman did this, and apparently if you look at them thats when they attack. (i still dont want to be anywhere near the darn things though)

And @Matt.K im slowly learning about the nether, not going to temp it though till i have a firm(er) grasp on how that shenanigans works

Thing is. I didnt even know it was around, so I sure as heck hadnt been staring in his eyes

When you put the crosshair over an Enderman they freeze and stare at you, they warp after you take it off of them. If you're wearing a pumpkin you are fine to look at them though.

You can wear pumpkins?!?! Man you learn something new every day.

(and at an attempt to get back on topic) For the main entrance way to the Dwarven city should we carve out a Guard post/ towers with parapets and other such cool looking defendable positions?

Well i made it to the elf tree and hoofed it up the mountains, hollowed out a cave for a new home and am now waiting until i find the area for the dwarven halls so i can start helping out.

In the meantime i can start amassing tools for the project, as well as chests to store all the dirt, rock and other various earthly bits we come across.

If you get a chest or two going on near where the dwarf city will be i got about 8 stone pickaxes, and 8(ish) stone shovels that i can drop off in them when i'm on next. I can also get to building ladders and more tools if need be.
