Hi,
So kind of a strange question here. I am assuming that a space marines power armor recycles liquid waste a space marine produces but what about solid? Do space marines even create solid waste or is there metabolism so cranked up that that's not an issue. I am of the mind that power armor can handle all waste produced by the wearer much like a fremens stilsuit. So i guess what i am asking is, do spacemarines poop and what is the capabilities of power armor when it comes to dealing with it.

I figured it probably would but then i thought with multiple stomachs maybe all food was able to be broken down so efficiently that waste was no longer an issue.

there is proberly a machine in the power armour that turn both pee and poo into some sort of paste and in the helmet there is proberly a tube that they can suck.

Aren't marines wearing some kind of bodysuit while in power armor? How would solid waste be 'cleaned up' and recycled in that case?

They don't, they wear it beneath their skin its called "Black Carapace" (I think, it might not be the right name) and its their means to interface the armor, that;t what those circle metal things you sometimes see on them when they wear no helmet are, extensions to connect to their armor and interface it. But they don't wear a body suit like the non-astrates power armor users.

I'm aware of the black carapace fluff, but I was under the impression Marines aren't nude inside their armor.

No. Those studs are service studs and denote a set period of years served for the Emperor.

in the Ultra Marines novels they they do wear like a black body glove under their armor. I would suppose that it would help protect against chaffing.

It has never been explained in any fluff just how the suits waste recycling system actually works - not how a marine would defecate in a suit which could then process it.

Indeed.
They dance around the issue a little in the first Ultramarines Trilogy (specifically Dead Sky, Black Sun, I believe) and their waste is indeed recycled by their armour, as others have mentioned, into a nutrient paste. It could probably just have easily been re-absorbed automatically but presumably there is a psychological benefit they gain from actually 'eating' something.
Logically they would need to eat again sometime, but several different sources talk about them not needing to sleep, eat, move, etc for days at a time, so it's probably quite an efficient system.
DoW
EDIT - Oh good, my 1000th post was about Space Marines eating their own crap. Delightful.

Great Job!!
The Ultramarines books are kind of what got me thinking about it. In the scene (i dunno if that is the right word to use when referring to a book) where they are on medrengard and having to drink "tepid recycled water.
