Hello everyone! As you may know, my name is Dawi and I have an idea for a small RP server, Dwarfcraft! I'd like to start off by saying that at this time, I have no way to implement my idea, and even if I did, I would not know how. So, if anyone with some knowledge about Minecraft servers would be willing to help me out, that would be great.

My Idea

My idea for a server is this, a dwarf themed one. I know this has been done before, but there are somethings that would set this server apart from others. Firstly, it would be a strict roleplaying server, meaning that everyone that played would be playing a character in this fantasy world instead of talking like they normally would. The server would also have a player driven economy, with player being able to set up shops and buy trade with other players. the server would have open PvP, but this PvP would have to be role-played, meaning you could not just sneak up behind someone and gank them, instead you would need to tell them you are going to attack, and wait for them to respond. Factions would also be in place on this server. But instead of regular factions, each faction would be a different Dwarven Clan. Each clan would be competing against each other. Every week, a moderator for the server would put out a challenge for the clans to meet, usually an economical one(such as collect 10,000 gold ingots), but sometimes it may have to do with exploration, war, or expansion of cities. Each clan would start off with a small village that they could grow and shape however they wanted. They could turn it into an impenetrable fortress or a thriving trade town with a large market place!

While these are all very cool features in my opinion, but this sounds like a lot of other servers. There is one major difference that would really set this server apart from others. Almost all of server would be underground. There would be a central area above land with a small human city and that would be the spawn point for everyone. This is the only area that players would want to go above ground. Off in the distance from the town, players would see a huge mountain that was home to the Dwarfs. (The mountain would have to be created by GMs and Admins. We are talking a mountain of epic proportions) Each clan has an entrance to the mountain that is walled off and sealed with a gate and an Inn. There is then a set of stairs that leads down to the clans village in the bowels of the Earth. There would be underground paths and tunnels that connected all the 3 clans villages, but besides that it would be up to the players to shape their world and choose where to mine and where to build paths. Clans could also tunnel up to the sides of the mountain and establish small military outposts on the sides of the mountain.

Goblins/Orcs would also be on this server. The Orcs and Goblins are the villains of the server, always trying to destroy the clans and slaughter the Dwarfs. The Orcs and Goblins would try to invade cities from time to time, and would kill all the dwarfs they saw wondering around in the tunnels. The Orcs would have their own city above ground on the side of the mountain.

I absolutely hate Factions, I think it really spoils the game being unable to break certain blocks, despite them being at 0. I personally think unofficial factions with a whitelist, and chest lock would be nice. But I would definately be up for this.

Factions can be created by all players IIRC, so that could be a problem (good PvP'ers claiming land of other factions)
If you would make it cracked (online=false), then Id be glad to help! I would indeed go for the lockette plugin (put sign on chest=private). You will need to search for a server host probably, or else it will only be online when you are. I can help a bit with starting it up.
Also, do goblin tunnels!
And if you find a host, ill gladly advert on my blog. It doesn't get viewed that much, but well

Make one big mountain next to (note: not in) a mountain range, and use this mountain range for factions. After the big mountain and human city have been build, you could make more human cities or hidden Greenskin villages/fortifications/tunnels. However, Id do factions that can't claim atleast.
And there is a handy plugin that makes you toggle pvp as a player. so you can do /pvp on to make you able to get hit or hit yourself and /pvp on again or /pvp off to disable pvp on you.

I'd very much be up for playing on a server of this type, though I must admit I'd much rather play as an orc or goblin than a dwarf...

Being an Ork fan I must play. Shaman of course/Witchdoctor.
I think mods would enhance the experience.
Un-official factions is best, I don't think we need to have lockit. We're not greifers, the only time would be after some land was conquered. Which could only be done so through a challenge issued here and if the response from the leader is a yes.

They would also issue a demand for some land themselves. I think the waiting time should be 3 days.

I could help you. I already run my own server for me and a handful of friends. However the server would have to be cracked in order to help build and set up the server. I am a very good builder and I can build lots of Dwarven and Goblin buildings having watched a lot of Lotr.
I would also prefer to be a dwarf.

(I can also make dwarf and goblin skins for anyone that wants them)

If you want to bring the server up, I am happy to iimmediately start building

It would need to be cracked for me too.
With a whitelist ofcourse.

I really like this idea so if you do go through with this server i will be glad to help in any constructions ( except circles or intricate designs, i am terrible with those)
