I like the base. The metallics could use a wash or something to give them more depth. Solid start to your army.

Initial success, or total failure.

Yup. The tall grass definitely needs a trim, but at least now I have a proper reference for trimming

I like Stryker; your starting to push the contrast higher, and that is really what is lacking from the ironclad. Your bases are great too, you are way better at getting static grass looking natural than I.

I'm trying to push my new army to a new level, and I'm still experimenting with the color scheme. Striker definitely came out very good The whole idea is to have muted colors and dirty look, while preserving higher contrast. Today i will probably paint a light jack and see how it works out.
As for static grass, I use my home-made applicator to lay it down on the bases, and the results are better than I expected. There are two tutorials in the tutorial section on how to make one:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/388539.page (my picture-only tutorial) and
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/417504.page (video tutorial - very good one to add)
All my previous attempts at static grass without the applicator resulted in something not completely resembling grass. (Stryker's base is not static grass though. Its the tuft grass from ArmyPainter)

Glad you like my work
More pics will follow shortly I try to paint one unit a day (be that a caster, jack, or a unit)

The extra highlights help him pop more. I think you might have overdone it on the bottom of his wristguard, but that's nothing a glaze can't fix.
You have a good level of contrast now; you just need to get some practice to get more comfortable with where the highlights will look natural.

Really like your painting style . What i dont like is the blue base border. But thats personal taste i think. I also had different colors on the borders for front and rear but went back to one color and just a line to differentiate the positioning.

Glad you like them
The blue border is a convenience. These models will be played with, and in our little gaming community everyone has pretty much the same markings I also think that the uniform front arcs tie up the army nicely which cant be really seen in separate shots. Once i paint up more models I will post a group shot

I really like how you added the white on that colossal, makes it more interesting to look at.
|
With that said, I shall back away slowly and ominously and disappear in a puff of smoke, then smuggle some fruit across the border in order to stay competitive with the veggie cartel. |
