A dry brushing of white looks great along sharp edges of black lines. Well to me anyway I enjoy the high contrast

Hi all!
thanks for the comments so far!
Alas, i have had no time to do any more painting, as i am building/painting/decorating the new salon for my girlfriend and putting in 12 hour days, although the end is sight now (saturday hopefully)!
Anyway, just to explain what i did to the model so far...
First off i gave it an undercoat of white, then my boy changed his mind as it was originally going to be brown body and green plating jungle style.
Then mark 2 came along and he wanted a bleck/red scheme.
Black undercoat, followed with VMA black.
Then 60/40 with VMA black/The fang.
this was all airbrushed on all raised areas using a 45 degree angle for highlight and shading.
then i went with a 50/50 highlight with VMA black/astronomicon gray.
As it was looking a bit light for my liking i gave it a wash in nuln oil, as i had no other washes (now remedied)!
The pplating was done with a mix of VMC reds (will post the list later when i get a chance to get my painting kit out) and Chaos black.
The build up was finished off with VMC flat red in small lines using a Proarte Miniature brush i picked up at a local art store for a couple of quid and in all honesty, its a very good brush, will post more details when i get time if anyone is interested.
Thanks for reading my waffle so far, if you want more info then please ask away

Ok, so time hasn't really been on my side, but i have pretty much completed the Carnifex, just not sure if i should add some snow effect to it (my son would like some snow)
I will hopefully have some time next week to finish it off properly, and it was a pleasant surprise to find my tub of humbrol acrylic gloss varnish which is older than my son lol!
As per usual C&C welcome!

Incredibly jealous of your ability to paint, I have a primed fex just sat there I'm a tad worried of touching it aha. Must say for someone that hasn't painted for 5 years you did a fine job, loving the transition of red across the carapace

Only thing I'd consider doing is perhaps building up the claws a bit more but again that's just me (Inexperienced but happy to chuck an opinion out there!)

Look forward to seeing any other models your son wants you to do

Great job, man! I think it looks great and you should definitely add some snow to the base. I hope to paint one these bad boys for a painting contest at my FLGS so I love looking at good examples.
