While I'm not saying that Vallejo needs to be the ONLY paint you use, if a color by GW is discontinued like Pink, but Vallejo still makes it, then you can just order the one color you no longer have and be done with it.
Is your LGS a GW store? If not then I'm quite sure that they can special order Vallejo paints through their wholesaler.
I personally drive 60 miles to get Vallejo Paints(buying at least $40 worth at a time to justify the trip), but have access to Reaper, P3 and GW paints locally. Then there are specialty items like Polyurethane Primers and certain Liquitex products that I have no option but to order online. While it isn't ideal, I need those products and get them where I can.
Yes. Shipping can be that long here in Canada, or at least the part I live in.
If it was a GW store, I would of said GW store. This is a LGS. And no.
I'm quite sure their supplier dose not carry Vallejo. He can Order in GW, P3, and Reaper. He tried carrying P3 paint but no one ever bought it, only the GW paint ever sold. So he has not tried stocking reaper paints, to not go threw that agien. (In the end he had to mark P3 paint at 50% off just to try and get rid of the stock he had). So no, he can't special order Vallejo. Their supplier dose not stock it.
The point I'm making is that for me and my local gaming community, If GW discontinues a colour it sucks for us.

I guess I don't know much about canadian distributors, but if your FLGS can't special order a product for you, they're not super friendly.

Huh? Just because their supplier doesn't carry Vallejo paint?
Trust me, if he could order in Vaelljo paints, he would. He's had enough people ask for them that he was consider stocking them regularly. The problem is he's used other suppliers before with more selection, but they were VERY unreliable. (Longer waits for orders to be shipped out, when they went out of stock on things it was longer waits, ect.)
The guy is ridiculously obsessive about making sure he supports the local wargameing community, and making sure his store is a friendly atmosphere. Trust me when I say this guy is on the up and up, and even IMPLYING the guy and his store isn't friendly is a insult I can't sit back and take in all honesty.
Really what it comes down to is all the suppliers aren't very friendly.

Saying Canadian Distributors are unreliable is like saying the surface of the sun is mildly warm. I've worked for game companies and I order from my LGS and I can honestly say that the store owners and the game companies are screwed by the distribution companies up here. Incidentally, if anyone has money, a good game distributor would be amazing.
Anyway, back to paint.

Well, as I said, I don't know about the distributors. If that's the case, than it's not the fault of your FLGS.
It's just really odd, because there isn't much, in print or out, that my FLGS couldn't get to me.

Point of interest, all of the painting guides are missing from the GW website...

Yah. With the old supplier the LGS here had before, a guy once had to wait more then 6 mounths before getting a box of panzers for flames of war.... Atleast with the guy's he's with now, he can get most things with-in 1-2 weeks of ordering it.
=/
With his currently supplier It's mostly hobby supplies he gets screwed over on mostly. No Vallejo, Army Painter, no Generic Kneadatite(just GW's), ect. I was surprised in all honesty when I found out he could get reaper paints.
And yes. If anyone has the money, game distribution in Canada is probably a safe investment. You don't have to try to hard to be better then most of the one's here.

Game stores can order from more then one supplier...
That being said, Reaper has alot of their own paints that match GW's stuff to. Take a gander and the paint conversion chart and have him special order what your missing.

Let me clear something up.
Game store can order from any supplier - check
Do they want to carry the min amount? - unsure
Does the supplier have any objection with other lines in the store?
Are there monthly minimums they have to sell or order?
these are the questions they are asked, maybe his game store doesnt carry the product because of these , maybe they cant order so small of an order

It's understandable, I just think that it's more reasonable to expect people in more remote areas to have to mail order a few paints a year than to stop a complete overhaul of the Citadel paint line.
The argument isn't "my colors are going away forever," it's "It will now be inconvenient for me to get my colors."
I like convenience, it's a great thing. But this isn't a time where I feel a huge amount of empathy.

If you are painting your army with many differrent colours, this is a nightmare. I have eliten troops in one colour, Trueborns in another, I'm working out another colour combination for a squad/group of Wyches, the vehichles have a certain scheme... And when you hear that the paints are changing, you start to get headaches, because you don't know if you can keep the same colours, or have to work out new combinations... And what if there is too much difference between the old combination, and your closest match-up with the new? Do you then re-paint the old batch?
Not a happy development...

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

Exactly this. The only reason most people use GW paints in the first place is convenience. They are everywhere that GW products are sold. Do you really use so much paint that you need it NOW and can't wait a few days for shipping? I just view this whole " GW is the only thing I use because I have excuses" thing as unreasonable.

Things are getting a bit heated here - Time to get back on track and discuss the actual rumors and/or changes to GW's paint range.
Other stuff will be considered Off Topic.

Man, they really did rename everything... I've decided though that anything I buy will probably consist of the shades, glazes, textures technicals, and Ceramite White Like it has already been said, other companies make the same colors in different bottle forms, and I paint from the pot and the palette, so that doesn't really matter to me. I'm just going to have to swallow 3.70 a bottle plus tax though... Though based on what the Lahmian Medium is, it might just be better and easier to buy some Liquitex... Also, I welcome our new Agrax Earthshade Overlords... All hail the successor to Devlan Mud the Wash, his son Agrax Earthshade of the Shades...

Totally agree with you here - I'm looking forward to picking some up, but some of those names....seriously WTF.
Does anyone have any ideas on the realease? Can we assume that the current range will be released first under the new names, and the tottally new paints come along at some point?

I'm of the same mind. I only use reaper master series paints on a wet palette. However, I will be trying out the textures, technicals, washes, and glazes.

Some of the names don't even have anything to do with a colour! Why did they call one XV-88? It's not like the suits have a set colour that instantly makes you think of them. Some of these are absolutely awful. Waaaaagh! Flesh??? The fang?? wtf GW.
I'll add that I welcome the expanded paint range but I can';t help but wonder about some of these names.

Screaming Bell seems to be a Foundation bronce. Nightshade seems to be Badab Black, Oil a metallic wash I guess.
Always love to have more options with paints. Also curious about the structure paints. Sound like fun.
BTW Release should be April, guess third week after Empire releases.
