Awesome, speedy, and very nice palette; again a bit more muted, but superb!

I still have highlights to do, but I think your muted palette is influencing me as I usually think that my stuff is too bright.

Thus far it is literally a base coat and wash job. Maybe that is the way forward?

Well if it's that simple then that's very impressive! Another highlight wouldn't go amiss just to add some texture to the armour, but so far I love the fact they're not as garish as the GW ones; even with things like Blood Angels and especially in Fantasy stuff, bright armour really doesn't work for me.

The new figures look great. Say what you will about GW's practices and rules, but their sculptors have been putting out some gorgeous sculpts.

Great painting on these beautiful sculpts.

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...

Thanks everyone, I do have to agree with the general consensus that these are some great sculpts. I got my first three completed.

I did not want to go overboard so for the armour I did Khorne Red, highlighted with Mephiston Red and then a bit of Wild Rider red on the face masks/around the eye sockets. I do not thinks it makes them too bright but just serves to make the armour "pop" a little bit more, at least I hope it does. Again it is not the brightest of days so apologies for the photography.

So a little more progress with the Goretide from AOS:

I finished up my final 2 Blood Warriors:

And here is the completed unit:

I also got the Bloodsecrator and Khorgos Khul done as well:

The Khorne Lord was a real blast to paint, as was his pet Grizzlemaw:

So just the Bloodstoker and 20 Bloodreavers to paint before the Goretide is done, adios.

I think the Bloodreavers are gonna be a hard slog lol.

For clarification: Not difficult, just kinda gruelling as with most line troops.

That sounds like a challenge to me AOV, I reckon I can have them done by saturday...

Weird how I bought it mainly for the Stormcast Eternals but have loved doing the Khorne models, but as Para says the Lord is an excellent miniature.

Might be worth putting some Nurgle's rot technical paint on there for Grizzlemaw's saliva running out of his chops maybe?

Thraxis, you are doing some simply superb work on these, and at a very fast clip. I haven't even gotten my AoS stuff off the sprue yet. The fleshtones are the warbeast are excellent. They have a softer, more natural looking contrast compared to the armor, which makes it look much more lifelike.

Keep em coming!

Thank you for the comments, much appreciated.

@AOV: No flash at ll on mine, weird how that happens. I will look into Nurgle's Rot (not the nicest prospect).

Failed abysmally to get the 20 Bloodreavers done by today, only managed 10. That said I did work 5 12 hour night shifts this week, you have to sleep some time.

So here we are, again photography is a bit poor due to the lighting:

And my Goretide thus far:

The Bloodstoker is currently on the painting table, so hopefully will have him done by tomorrow. Adios.

Damn. I don't know that I like what they've done with the whole Sigmar stuff... but as an admire-from-afar of chaos for years I gotta say those Khorne dudes are pretty amazing and your excellent paint work only makes them more so.

Thank you very much gents, one of the "fun" things about working nights is that on your nights off you wake up at 4am and can set about painting.

So I got my Bloodstoker done. I was initially quite daunted by this miniature but I actually found him straightforward and fun to paint. His muted flesh tone was easy too, so I will replicate it on my remaining Bloodreavers thus giving them 3 flesh colours. I have since removed the rogue hair attached to the whip:

The bloodstoker is probably my favorite model of the Khorne side of the starter set. I like that theres a fat guy for once in warhammer (thats not nurgle). Pretty cool model.

Thank you everyone. I have set myself the mini challenge of getting the remaining 10 Blood Reavers done before me and the Missus head to Amsterdam for a little holiday on friday. With 2 more nightshifts, packing, sleeping and eating to do I doubt that I will do it but I will try. Then it is onto the Sigmarite models.

So had a little break from the AOS starter set to paint up some terrain, nothing particularly special here but the pieces will certainly help fill up a table.

Firstly is Deathknell Watch, this is OOP but when browsing my local GW they still had a box so I snapped it up. I have not glued the tower to the base so it can have some dual uses. Firstly as a magical pool/objective:

Then the full works:

I also got a Baleful Realmgate done, I think my other will be a more sandstoney affair with fire in the middle:

Thanks for looking.
