Subject: Converting Camo Skinks/ Skink Priest with Cloak of Feathers

Hi Guys, I'm building my lizardmen army atm and have got all of my core sorted, i'm now onto my special and need to buy 16 Camo Skinks for my 2400 point army, I also need a Priest with Cloak of Feathers as I'm not a fan of the model, as well as it all being metal, I would like to know if anyone has an alternative to making camo skinks out of plastic skinks, as the metal ones are rather pricey and I dont have a lot of funds availible, any help would be appreciated.
Cheers!

I agree with the chameleon skinks comment fully. I haven't done mine yet, but I thought the best way to do it would be to shave off their tails, then make a coil of greenstuff and replace their current tails with longer curled prehensile tails. Then I reckon shave off their crests and finally round it off with a couple small blobs of greenstuff over their eyes to make chameleons bulging eyes instead. Shouldn't be too difficult, just time consuming, but at a fraction of the cost. Besides those metal models are pretty ugly to me.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the metal ones and really want to make my own, I was thinking about using normal skinks, as I have no other skinks in my army so there wouldn't be any confusion, but some people will say it's not WYSIWYG which will be annoying, I will hopefully be buying some soon, any idea on the Priest? I like This One but i'm not sure how i could convert feathers onto it.
Cheers

See if one of your mates has high elves, the archer sprues have tons of loose feathers on them.

1 at the top of the album and some more near the bottom.
For the cloak of feathers, I don't know anything like it in plastic.

lol! they were far more cost effective and didn't look awful just a bit greenstuff. I just finished putting a cold one rider on top the toad dragon from forgeworld. I put a slann on a squiggoth for mazdamundi as at the time the new plastic didn't exist and metal one sucked.

Sorry about the late reply, but i've found some models that I like the look of and am thinking of using them as my conversions for the 2 skink priests that I am going to have in my army, Can anyone please give me some help on what was used for each model as I'm not too sure (I'm talking about the whole model, not just the parts) so i know what I need to buy!
Thanks!

If you want to do Chameleon skinks without extensive conversions, make your regular skinks (including characters) pretty bright - think poison-arrow frogs - so they stand out. Then match your chameleons to whatever basing theme you're using so they blend in.
Should cover any ambiguity just fine for all but the most hardcore GW fanbois (as opposed to the average WYSIWYG player, who should be fine so long as the two types of skinks are distinctly different).

I don't know, I was asking that myself as I was going to copy these conversions a bit!

It's alright, I found all the bitz I need now, including a BT scroll for a dispel scroll, Do you reckon the top guy would be ok to use as a priest despite the shield?
