Hello All!

Here are pics from a commission work from several years ago.

An Imperial Fists Captain. I believe it was a limited run model.

It was modeled and painted as requested.

Thanks
D.

That is one of the best yellows I've ever seen. I know how hard yellow is to paint, and you've done a wonderful job. Whoever you painted this for must have been very pleased indeed.

The customer was very please. I find yellow and white to be the hardest colors to work with. I painted this model 6 years ago.

How on earth did you get/leave that thin black line on the cape between the main red and the stripe???

Any way, the model is awesome. As always!

This is a great model!

But I don't think its a limited edition one, it looks like one made from the commander boxed set.

It was the 1999 Gamesday Limited run model. Given or sold to the 1999 Gamesday attendees.

Amazing work! Just great, do you have any tips for layering? Or do you know of a
Source you can point me toward to learn more on the subject

It was a few years ago when I painted this model. So, I will try to remember how I painted it. It was primed all black. I used several coats of Golden Yellow to get that deep yellow look. Highlighted with what I think it was Bad moon Yellow and a mix of yellow and white.
The shades were mixes of yellow and browns. With the deepest recesses being Snakebite leather brown or Vomit brown. These colors have changed recently and I have not had an opportunity to try the new GW colors yet. So, I do not know what the new colors are that would be used to match this.
You can probably find tutorials on painting Imperial Fists and yellow armor here on Dakka in one of the forums.

I know this was not much help but maybe a start.

Thanks
D.

Yes, free-handed. No maskings or tape.

Check my work on a Dark Angel Banner in my Dakka gallery for more free-hand.
