Not bad. Just black, Red shoulders and white/grey drybrush? Looks like boots weren't drybrushed, intentional?

Pretty basic, but it works.

I was intentional not drybrushing the boots. I wanted to make a black cloth effect to match my chapter's paint scheme.

Not sure if it is just the picture or not, but the scout is much more solidly painted than that marine. Brother Pedro could use some highlighting (or as I like to pronounce it, drybrushing).

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I like the scout a lot more than the Pedro.
In other words the scout is very nice.

Yes, Pedro has been updated since that picture, it was just to show the paint scheme. I want to highlight all my marines but drybrushing makes them too gray and I am not very good at edge highlighting yet.

I think a light drybrush like you did for the scout really makes them ashen gray, which fits the name of the chapter pretty perfectly.

Hmm... Although the gray is growing on me, I really don't want to repaint 700-800 points of marines. (I have roughly 1500 Pts.)

Dry brushing isn't a really good effect on black armor, IMO it doesnt look good on SMs of any color and I did it for years. Try whatever the new shadow grew is with extreme highlights of fortress grey. Edge highlighting is about suggestion and not completeness.

They are already black, right? (Painted like Pedro there)

- Get a nice big drybrush, some water, newspaper and a pot of grey paint.
- Put in a copy of your favorite movie in the DVD player.
- In 90-120 minutes you'll be done.

Drybrushing is easy.

I like it, though I think it needs some sharper highlighting beyond just dry-brushing. It's more than good enough for tabletop, but I really think some sharper highlights would help the overall look of the model.

It's not that I am worried about, I do not want to repaint all the detailes. (guns, shoulders, knees, etc.)

Yeah, just don't drybrush over those areas. Just highlight the black armor bits.

I have a tac squad that is just primed black, I think I will try this out on one or two of them and post the results. My only concern is that the reason the drybrush looked good on the scout is because of the cloth. I don't know if it will look good on power armor.

I like the colors. My only thought is that it does need some "zing" It's a little to drab. Something like brass/gold buckles/fittings, or a bright glowie effect on the lenses/targeters. Realistic dull tones are fine for reality. On the tabletop you want something to make the model stand out. Just my thoughts...

Overall very nice though.

I think I will add a green glow on the targeter.

Grey looks a little furry, I wouldn't drybrush on the trousers like that.

Otherwise good though

You know, as a tabletop force, I kind of like the dusty ash look of the marines. Looks like you kept it off the weapons as well, which is good.

Now that you've added it to the Marines it looks very good and uniform. Good for the name Ash Dragons as it looks very ashey.

Great effort but those mold lines are killing your paint work!

These marines were just primed, that is how I kept it off the weapons.

Yes, my old color scheme (just black) hid them very well.

Nothing like a good dry brush to show up all your mold lines

I know people really like Mold Lines to be off the models and such, but when dealing with a tabletop force, it isn't as big a deal.

I recommend you do it, but if you don't... don't lose any sleep.

I really like both the marines and the scouts, the color scheme fits the chapter name very well.
