Today I finally received this kit and decided to make a small review. From the outset, the plastic it is made of, is more durable than in previous sets. I also noted the use of "rolled up" sleeves on many models, making for a more "battleweary" look. One of small issues, is that the
HMG gunner and one of the observers (see below) are made of three parts, including the backpack part. If not careful enough, these backpacks could be messed up, since each of them fits only on one particular model, although they look the same. The instruction sheet describes the 8cm mortar assembly with two crewmen, the
HMG with gunner and loader, 12cm mortar with one crew and the "walking" ammo carrier - the rest is to figure out for yourselves, but nothing extremely difficult.
You get four of these sprues
HMG. I placed it next to Forged in Battle
HMG, and they are actually almost the same - sorry, but I did not take the comparison pics.
8cm mortar with three crewmen and nice ammo box
12cm mortar
Two extra models - the kneeling observer has that backpack which is not to be used on
HMG gunner
Notice, that
PSC panzerschrecks are larger than the Wargames Factory ones.
You get two Panzerschreks and a loader (sorry for blurry pic)
Whereas Panzerfausts are almost similar in size
You get two of fausts as well
Also, 8cm mortar crews from
PSC and WGF can be easily mixed on the same base
To sum it up, the kit has good value for its bucks. 4 x
HMG, 8cm, 12cm mortars, 8 panzerfausts/schreks, some interesting models (walking ammo guy) for observer teams - if you have that WGF Late German kit as well, they can be mixed on the same base (apart from panzerschreks) for even more options.
PSC soldiers a bit more chunky, but this will not be as apparent from 3 feet away. Mortars probably should be drilled out for better looks.
