Blood-Raging Khorne Berserker

Los Angeles

This is a home-made scenario I played yesterday with a long-time friend of mine.

The Setup:

The Venus Plague, a Nurgle / Slaanesh worshipping cult of Chaos Space Marines, have laid siege to agricultural world Verdus IV. In order to cull the populace and make the planet suitable for their depraved purposes, they have released a deadly new virus known only as "The Blood Pox" into the atmosphere. Sister Ashley of the Order of the Violet Rose chapter of Battle Sisters stationed on the planet has received a single vial of an experimental cure from a nearby research world. She must deliver the vial to a medicae facility where the cure can be manufactured in enough quantity to save the planet. With the rest of her Battle Sisters engaged with the Chaos Space Marines, Sister Ashley reluctantly accepts an escort from the Flesh Tearer Space Marines, the first chapter to reply to the planet's distress beacon. Unfortunately, the Venus Plague learns of her plans and breaks off a small detachment to ambush the convoy...

The Lists:

FLESH TEARERS

Captain w/ twin lightning claws

2 Sanguinary Priests

5 Death Company Marines w 1 Power Fist
Razorback w Heavy Flamer

5 Assault Marines w Melta and Power Fist
Razorback w TLAC

5 Assault Marines w Melta and Power Sword

Land Speeder w MM, Heavy Flamer

SISTER ASHLEY AND HER RETINUE

Sister Ashley, a 3-wound Sister of Battle
2 Death Cult Assassins
2 Crusaders
Chimera w Dozer Blades

THE VENUS PLAGUE (approximate based on memory)

Demon Prince w Mark of Nurgle, Warp Time

6 Noise marines w Sonic Weapons, Blastmaster
Rhino

6 Noise Marines w Sonic Weapons, Blastmaster
Rhino w Havoc Launcher

7 Plague Marines w 2 Plasma Guns
Rhino

7 Chaos Space Marines w Mark of Chaos

5 Havoks w 2 Autocannons, 2 Missile Launchers, Mark of Chaos

3 Terminators w 3 Combi-plas 1 Chainfist

3 Terminators w 3 Combi-plas 1 Chainfist

Defiler w two close combat weapons

Scenario :
Game is played on the table length-wise. Defender (Flesh Tearers) set up first within 12" of table edge. Attacker (Venus Plague) sets up second within 12" of table edge. Attacker gets first turn, no exceptions. First turn is subject to night fight (which, of course we forgot). Game ends when Sister Ashley makes it off the opposing table edge or is killed. No turn limit.

It's a long way to the other side... the Flesh Tearers set up a defensive formation. The first salvo from the Defiler kills two jump pack assault marines and clips the Land Speeder's wing, immobilizing it.

The Venus Plague sets up to intercept the convoy.

The Flesh Tearers turn the throttle down on their Lucius Pattern Engines, advancing cautiously to keep pace with the VIP's Chimera. Meanwhile, the Death Company races up the left flank, eager to come to grips with the enemy.

The Loyalists continue their advance in the face of heavy fire, suffering weapon destroyed results while the Dreadnoughts and jump pack marines protect their rear against deep strikers.

The two Terminator Squads teleport in behind the convoy, threatening rear armor. Their fire only manages to destroy a blood talon on the Death Company Dreadnought

The vile Chaos Marines continue to blaze away at the convoy.

The convoy continues to advance, but is now taking serious damage, with the lead Razorback immobilized and the leftmost Razorback wrecked. Meanwhile, the Noise Marines disembark from their Rhino and retreat into the ruins, running away from the Death Company Razorback on the left flank.

The convoy is in trouble. The Chimera has been wrecked, forcing Sister Ashley and her Retinue to disembark. The Flesh Tearer Space Marines, protecting their charge at all costs, assault the Demon Prince and the Plague Marines (note: the Khorne markers indicate Red Thirst)

The Furioso makes quick work of the deep-striking Chaos Terminators.

The Death Company Dreadnought doesn't fare as well and is eviscerated by a chain fist, but not before taking two Terminators with him

The battle rages on all fronts now, with Captain Khidyr charging in and cutting down four of the vile plague marines with his massive chainsword (counts as twin lightning claws)

Meanwhile, the Death Company charges the Venus Plague's left flank, cutting down Noise Marines.

The Flesh Tearers annihilate the Plague Marines, but suffer serious casualties, among them Captain Khidyr. They consolidate their position, their only thought to protect Sister Ashley.

The Assault Marines and Sternguard Veterans fight valiantly, seriously injuring the Demon Prince, but he proves too strong for them, killing both squads to a man. He is quickly finished off by the fury of the crippled Razorback's plasma guns.

A nearby Noise Marine squad counter-charges the Death Company, killing all but one. Lost Brother Jagun fights valiantly, killing six Noise Marines single-handedly, but eventually succumbs to his grievous wounds.

The vile Defiler nearly kills off the remaining Flesh Tearer Space Marines before the Furioso charges in and rips it limb-from-limb. With only two Loyalist Space Marines on the battlefield left to face a full-strength Havok squad and two Noise Marines, Sister Ashley and her retinue proceed with caution.

And it ends. The Furioso shrugs off everything the Havoks can throw at it. He charges in and smashes the traitors, allowing Sister Ashley to escape and deliver the cure.

The Flesh Tearers win, but at tremendous cost. Sister Ashley safely breaks away to deliver the vial to the medicae facility but still faces a long road ahead of her.

Great report and fantastic models! Although we all know once the Flesh Tearers are done with the traitors, the sisters are next on the chopping block!

Thanks for the compliments!

Ha! Yes, we all know how the Sisters of Battle feel about the Flesh Tearers and their propensity for "collateral damage". They managed to keep it under control this time, but next time may not go so well... stay tuned!

Thanks a lot, guys. I really appreciate the compliments.

You can see close ups of the Flesh Tearers in my gallery.

I'm not sure if there are closeups of my friend's army anywhere on the net... it's pretty grotesque!!! He really got creative with the painting and sculpting.

I'll try to take better pics next time. This one was done with my camera phone.
