Anybody have any advice or suggestions for what kind of liquid to use for stripping primer (as opposed to stripping entire paintjobs)?

I've been getting my Tyranids ready for 6th edition, but a large portion of them are undercoated in white (using the GW spray, which is somewhat less toothy than other types of professional primer, but still more difficult to remove than normal acrylic paint) and I think I'd prefer to redo them in black.

There are DOZENS and dozens of topics in on this; search a bit, and check the turorials.

If you don't want to do that:
simple green or "super clean".

I like super clean better.

best of luck!

I've read plenty of topics on stripping (and done a ton of stripping myself) but I've never seen the issue of high durability primer addressed directly.

I've never tried Simple Green/Super Clean either, though, so it might be worth a look.

Sadly, if its really good primer....I have yet to find anything that will take it off without damaging the model (plastic).

Metal models can obviously be stripped with more serious stuff, but plastic is not easy if the primer is good.

Superclean seems to do a better job than simple green on the toughest primers, but even then I had to do some scrubbing with a wire brush...

I had success removing the GW black spray from a rhino using Testor's Paint Remover. It comes in a small tin, so there's not very much of it. I used an old tooth brush and just let it sit in the stuff for a few minutes.

I've never been able to get my hands on simple green or the other brands most US/UK based people recommend, so I've had to resort to brake fluid.
It's obviously abit nastier than the cleaning agents, so use gloves and other precautions. But I've gotten rid of several types of primer and paints with it. It may have to soak over night a couple of times.
