So I have been restoring an old mk1 landraider and I am running into a problem.

I can't seem to figure out what to do about the lascannon sponsons.
I have tried to mount modern style lascannons on the thing but I just don't really like the look. I still have the old lascannons but I can't figure out how to mount them, the original side mounting brackets and arms are lost to the warp. So if you all could send me some ideas or pictures on how I could fix this problem that be great.

My back up idea right now is to turn the thing into a vindicator. Thanks guys

Can you give us a picture of what you do currently have for the Lascannons?

The original mountings were pretty crap, and frankly so were the lascannons. I remember I replaced mine with Space Crusade Tarantula (twin-linked lascannon with a shield) - not great models but still an improvement.

Is it the new lascannon themselves you don't like, or just the mountings? Certainly I can see you'd need new mountings, and may even need to cover/remove the box thingy below the mounting holes to make space for mountings.

Hmm, you could also consider some of the other Land Raider variants, e.g. the super-flamer one, which woud at least give different modelling options, depending on what's in your bits box.

Plasticard and plastic rod/tube. Build whatever kind of mounting you want. Remember, you dont have to use the whole lascannon...you can cut them down, even to just barrels if you want, or even scratch build your own lascannons. Remember the counts-as rule...as long as your opponent knows what it is before the game starts, your good to go.

Have you considered taking some rhino doors & plasticard & making armored sponsons? Like on the MKII & the armored proteus.

Here's my WiP armored sponsons for my Spartan Assault Vehicle:

I think putting them into a armoured fitting as suggested above would be best. You definately do not want to replicate the original fittings, they really were terrible and looked even worse !

How about using the sponsons off a Russ to mount them?

They seem about the right size.
