After poking through the 6th ed rules I decided to put together my own Skyshield landing platform, because who deep strikes more than Daemons?

It hasn't found its way to the tabletop yet, so I am a little concerned about it holding up but I guess we will see. This is modeled to have similar dimensions to the Skyshield and I am thinking that in smaller games this can double as a display board.

Great work. Nice chaos emblem sculpt into the styrofoam. The paint job also looks fantastic. brilliant idea and excellent final terrain piece....should give your daemons a nice advantage on the board now!

Very nice. My only concern is that Skyshields have two settings; open to receive deep strikes, and closed to shield those on the pad. Any ideas on how to let your opponent know which one it is in?

You might want to have some sacrifices/alters on hand for "ready for deamons" and some warpfire makers for "protected by eldric energies"

I think that's a good idea. Reaper minis has some really cool stuff that could work. Maybe they sacrifice innocents on turns that they want to be protected?

My original plan was to just make up some sort of marker, a skull totem or something of the sort and mag it to the base with no fluffy explanation for the 4++. Cultists seems like a pretty decent idea though, I will check out my LGS for something appropriate.

So you got me inspired and I started sketching out my own "summoning pad". Something I was thinking about for a shield is one of those cheap clear balls at walmart. I'm going to cut it in half and paint runes and glowing beams on the sides and place it over my summoning pad when i'm using the 4+.

When it's wrecked I'm going to just count it as static terrain that can't use it abilities, because the rules for the skyshield are pretty ambiguous.

That. Is. Awesome!

Thought: Maybe create some kind of perimeter glow/fire/evil to represent it closed up instead of unfurled?

LEDs would be awesome for this sort of thing. Just flip the switch when the shields are on!

This is what I envisioned at first but it seems like a headache.

As far as being wrecked, I couldn't find anything in the book that gave this thing an AV. I wonder if it can be wrecked... I am pretty sure the book says that any side can use the terrain, (another headache) so I am looking forward to an FAQ.

I have to look at the rules again for it. I think the planet strike book gave it an AV, but that's 5th so I'm not sure if we should even pay attention to it... Yeah I'm assuming we'll get some kind of FAQ eventually.

What am awesome idea with a brilliant execution. Great work!

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

This is actually my first piece I have posted up for C&C, thanks so much for the positive comments!

It made it to the tabletop earlier this week and thankfully survived the travel to my LGS. All in all I was pretty happy with the performance, I was a little nervous it was going to be a total waste when a squad of genestealers infiltrated onto it, but 6th ed rules don't permit a charge on the first turn so they were very quickly dispatched by warpfire.
