This is my latest model to be finished. My daughters bought it for a fathers
day present.

The base was built from ready mix wall filler, painted brown and green then parts covered
in large ballast from a railway model store and green flock grass (GW).

And to stave off comments that will say that the wings face the wrong way, I think that GW got that wrong. It
looks far more like a supersonic flyer with the wings facing this way as far as I'm concerned.

All the weapon options have been painted and can be fixed on depending on the choice de jour!

Great looking flyer! What a great fathers day gift.....in my house its almost like a cardinal sin to give me anything GW related.....so consider yourself lucky .

I have to agree with you on the wings. It looks quite a bit better the way you have them set. Reminds me of the Piranna conversion that Tau players do.

I am slowly getting back to how it used to be 18 years ago, no kids and married only for a few years. Then I owned 4500 tyranid hoard, 4000 Eladar army and a 2000 space marine army. Life was somuch simpler then!

The wings look better the way you've modelled them, but I'm afraid you've glues the elevator (the top of the tail) on backwards; curved side should face towards the front, flaps to the back

I figured it looked better this way. To you my friend it may be the wrong way round but for the sake of aerodynamics and just making sense I think it's right.

I never really liked this model. Then I saw your paint job and I liked. Really good job mate.

Had I continued with my Crimson Fists, a Stormtalon would have been next. This is a really nice, clean job!

Putting the tail on backwards leaves the flaps facing the wrong way.

If you're set on leaving it backwards, I would recommend scoring some new flap lines in.

Other than that, it's a nice paintjob on a silly vehicle. You get extra kudos fr actually finishing it off with unit and battle markings, which a depressing number of people don't bother with

I think this looks quite impressive for what it's worth. How did you do the paintjob? Was it drybrushing or line-highlighting?

As for the actual model, I really do prefer it in it's original form. To me 40k is not meant to be 'politically correct'. There could be any number of reasons why and how it's shaped like it is.

Paint job: dark blue painted over black undercoat. Then a heavy big brush of a lighter blue followed by a heavy dry brush of ice blue. Once dry a assurance wash applied very liberally. Then another dry brush of ice blue to pick out the edges again and any surface details. The red is dark then light then wash then light dry brush.

The look I am going for is aged. I figured that pesto kantor survived the Ork attack with some surviving marines and those who didn't had their armour salvaged and redistributed to new recruits. I remember rogue trader when I first started playing and crimson fists were pale blue with a crimson fist. So I have created a retro army complete with old rhino's and antique paint jobs!

I had toyed with the idea that the next one would be a negative of this one. Red paint with blue wingtips and gun surrounds? Something to think about.

That's great, i'm painting my Stormtalon the same way haha!

I like it. I'm not sure about the decals though. Maybe paint a big fist across each wing.

Something to think about for the next one perhaps.
