Lost in the Warp

Hey guys,

I wanted to clarify something regarding Shadow Skies. The rule states that models equipped with personal teleporters don't scatter when deploying via Shadow Skies using Deep Strike rules. Now, Terminators are technically equipped with personal teleporters - that's indicated in the Wargear section of the GK codex and explains how they're allowed to Deep Strike onto the field. Now, do models in Terminator still scatter as a result? Does their Terminator armor count as personal teleporters?

If not, if the Storm Raven were to take a Teleport Homer, would that then work?

It doesn't say they have personal teleporters it says they can be teleported down. They are making use of a ships teleportarium to get down with their armor keeping them safe from the warp.

IIRC, by lore, terminators are teleport-capable because they have personal teleporters. Old codices (I'm looking at you, 2nd and 3rd ed codices) used to explicitly read that terminator armors are equipped with personal teleporters - I feel like that portion was omitted in the GK codex to prevent confusion with the personal teleporter packs that Interceptors carry. That's why you see teleporting Termies in Dawn of War, for example.

They are not effectively equipped with personal teleporters. If its not in their wargear, its not there.

Alright.

So if the Stormraven were equipped with Teleport Homers, would that work for their Shadow Skies drop?

No, because they are not teleporting.

Neither of those codexes mention Terminators having personal teleporters. It was Dawn of War that added that little nugget to the fluff. In 40K, they've always been teleported from the Battle Barge.

Odd. I seem to recall one of the old Chaos 'dexes saying that. In that case, I stand corrected.

Not for Shadow Skies I believe. Since they are deployed "as if deepstriking" they are technically not deepstriking and therefore do not receive the -1D6 scatter.

IIRC its Locator beacons that SR can buy, which affect all deep strike (FAQ). It is either the BA Skies of Blood or GK Shadow.skies.

Pg. 37 reads "Deploy as if they were deepstriking". Doesn't that read as, "it counts as deepstriking"?

No.

Deploy as if and "counts as" are NOT the same. They don't even read the same.

ONLY the GK fast attack teleporting PA guys (and the dreadknight) may have personal teleporters - the Terminators DO NOT have them.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
