I was hoping to collect an IG army and was looking through the available choices and stuff, but wasn't too impressed by it all. But one day I was watching Steven Spielberg's and Tom Hanks miniseries named "The Pacific" and it captured my imagination. If you haven't seen it, I loved it and recommend it to anyone interested in history or just loves war and action movies. So without further ado I present to you guys and gals the Marines of Mortem.


Planets of Mortem Cluster
The Mortem Cluster is a hostile cluster of planets in the Settore Reductus Sector, from the likes of which is rare throughout the universe as they orbit around one huge Super Giant as well as their own suns and even though their in their own solar systems. They also act as one Regimental sync with each other as each planet relies on each other as much as the Imperium relies on the planets for the Guard regiments. Listed below are the planets.

• Machi provides the tanks that have been known to be as hard to kill as if you were punching a diamond. Machi itself is just a hive world that has such bad conditions that the mortality rate is higher there than on Catachan. So many of the people on the planet would rather take their chances on the near-by Death worlds than on Machi, the population rivalling that of Mordian and Armageddon, almost 20 billion souls in the capital city, Souvenirs. The whole core has been mined out completely, replaced with the slums of the world. The cities reach peaks of thousands of meters high, buildings stacked upon each other in grim light of the sun. The only thing that separates them is the original factory, one which the best mechanics of the cluster collide heads with the Tech-Priests of Mars to figure out and dig deep into this ancient world and this is the only form of solid earth, a poisoned sprawling army base in which the men of Machi train to become soldiers.

• The 117th Catachan have colonised the jungle world Viper and along with the soldiers of Pacifius they provide the hard soldiers that have been trained from a young age to survive the worst; Some say that a Marine's helmet is carved out of an Ork Warlord skull and dipped in a Chaos Champions Blood for the blackness of the helmet. The planet of Viper itself is a death-world that actually surprisingly got sucked up into the warp, much like Caliban, and consumed for thousands of years and disappeared from the galaxy completely. Then, during the Ork WAAAGH! Carjum invaded the cluster and was on the brink on invading Pacifius after taking Dacha, when it appeared out of the warp in 727.M41 and as the whole entire WAAAAGH! Ship was sucked into the warp, the planet was spat out. In 731.M41 the Marines called out for aid as they found the planet when it finally became part of the system. The Catachan 117th were deployed to investigate the disturbance caused by the planet and found the planet in a state of death. Instantly calling for higher forces, the Catachan and Marines both together were joined by an entire contingent of Grey Knights and a Company of Dark Angels. When they landed on the planet, they found it to be a death jungle wasteland, hosting on it's blasted surface thousands of mutants and Daemons. The Grey Knights cut off the ties of the warp to the planet and cleaned it, the Catachan vouching to settle the planet. Today, almost 269 years on, the Catachan have remained on the planet, joining the Marines in their battles and wars. They are basically the older brother of Pacifius Prime, a jungle infested with all manner of evil and dark creatures, the 117th hacking an existence into the thick and wild fauna. The Tyranids were there before the planet was pulled into the void and bred with the existing population of the native creatures. Mansions and small villages struggle to survive the harsh climate environment of Viper. Entire tribes are recruited into the Marines, the leaders or Warlords normally becoming the Tribal Leaders

• Jiao used to be a nice marsh city planet before it fell prey to the Dark Eldar in 973.M41 and now it is a destroyed city with patches of small communities of people that are trying to build their home back up. So many colonists from Machi mainly came to the world; So many in fact that Commander Chenkov assigned himself to the settler force. Jiao also incorporated the re-enforced 384th Cadian Regiment as the Cadian Regiment helped the Jiao soldiers fight the Dark Eldar. The ruined city that once was teeming with people in a thriving community now becomes a struggling community, as almost 900 Dark Eldar remain on the planet, the settlers fighting a constant battle against the aliens who have hacked an existence out of the jungle. The settlers have now made a living from the city ruins and are slowly re-building the cities.

• Nix V is a small snow plane that boasts the best snipers in the cluster on the inhospitable iceberg. It is the most isolated planet in the whole cluster, actually being out in the centre of it. The snipers are the best because they actually hunt for their food of which it is scarcely available. A living in those conditions are poor and the hunters on Nix V are agile and quiet, but also are alone and many of them living with the conditions of the freezing temperatures. They are nomads at heart and most don't survive the conditions of the planet, but those that do suffer a life of Malnutrition and hardship and most of all; Loneliness. Many of the inhabitants go insane and get even more paranoid, as the animals are dangerous and many gangs of bandits roam the surface, looking for game that usually includes humans. But once every 3 and a half years, the frozen river of Chuff-Vida, a river that goes across the whole planet, unfreezes for 2 months and the small tribes of the planet rush to drink the water. One of the 3 settlements are there, called Holy Nash; a place where the Marines recruit the eskimos. One of the other settlements are in the mountains of Besought, where a gang called the Hash thrive within the warm shelters provided and kill any trespassers. The final settlement is an Imperial abandoned city which is now controlled by a particularly violent gang called the Lash Mafia. It is a hostile place in which you may become a nomad and live in paranoia, become one of the gangs and live a short and brutal life or become one of the Nix Snipers, a short and brutal life as well. Many of them choose the latter, becoming one of the Marines.

• Dacha is a small but beautiful agricultural planet with grazing Xeno-cows and other peaceful animals. But there is something off about the planet. The Orks there are massive brutes but are nothing compared to the huge ab-human farmer race of the Vastus who were there long before human colonisation on the planet. But the Marines have made a pact for them. The Vastus will go into battle for them in order for the brutal orks to not bother them again in which the Marines keep in check by regular sweeps of the forests.

• Harem is a planet that has only small gravity, with working wonders like the floating mountains of Bodhi where the main source of fuel for the Valkyries, the Orks cavern, where the last piece of land on the planet is infested with a constant battle of Orks and Guard, the final small forests of the lost world and many more. Once it was a flourishing forest planet before a mining error detonated an ancient machine, one which dated pre-Horus Heresy. The whole planet was destroyed, small rocks of what once used to be the planet are now gravitated by the planet. Almost 600 pieces of debris remain, from small little scraps of turf to the huge Rocky Mountain Valkyrie and Vendetta base. The drop troops and the Valkyrie crews are some of the finest in the Imperium from their hard work battling against the adaptable creatures of the dead planet.

• Kunza is a planet of lava, rough terrain and death. The moon is as inhabitable as an asteroid. But somehow Mankind has found a way to survive. The city is a floating fortress and it is here in the blistering heat of lava pits and unstable ground the Sentinels of the Rough Heads are born as it is the only way to travel on the worlds surface, but the worlds surface is rich in every resource imaginable. The mining and the blistering heat has caused the Sentinels design to change though; arms have been added to the design with various weapons and tools for mining, built in carriages to protect from the soot and elements of the moon. The legs have been upgraded so that they are re-enforced to have anti-gravity boots to jump over the rough terrain and lava flows and finally heat-resistance technology.

• Graha is a giant planet that isn't a planet, but a hollowed out shell with an atmosphere. The middle is dominated by a massive city that houses thousands of people. This is the recruiting place of the naval station and the final stage of the Marines, the waiting ground. It is also the station where the Departmento Munitorium recruits the soldiers of the regiments. The planet is an administrium. They have been known to place the crews of Valkyries in charge to over-see operations and report to the Administration directly.

• The planet of Pacifius Prime is a hostile planet in the Settore Reductus Sector, from the likes of which is rare throughout the universe. It is a planet of which is 93% water and the rest is a battlefield. In order to understand, taking back in time to 738.M40. The planet was a beautiful wonderland of which was enjoying a time of prosperity, but then the Renegades came to the Imperium and the planet was thrown into chaos, but with something completely different. The civil war that ensured was horrible, killing untold billions on at that time where there were entire thriving cities. But the guardsmen who were under the command of the governor Neve Yusuf were winning against the traitors at every turn and so in a last ditch attempt, Chaos sorcerer Yyinmabvigh Fasndi, chosen of Tzeench, called in an earth shattering spell. At that time only 50% of the planet was water and the flora and fauna were small. But Fasndi wreaked havoc. He sunk the entire planet’s surface and tainted what he couldn’t sink. He was then executed by the Governor for his crimes but the damage had been done. There is only two cities now; Americanos Prime the Imperium’s base and Japokin, the city centre of chaos named duly the Fallen. After that time the Marines under the command once again by the saviour drove back the Fallen from all the small islands and with heavy losses on both sides, drove the Fallen into Japokin in a six year campaign.
Now apart from those small islands, which make up a third of the land, the scraps of islands that both factions have battled for are long going. These small scraps of land are within a 300km radius and from there the inhabitants call the small scraps ‘Insula Mortis’ of islands of death. The dark side of the world or ‘Infernum Terra’ is surrounded by warp storms with every season. For Heaven or ‘Tutum Domum’ is where the last of the population lives, only about 1,400,000 people to date.
There are two seasons unless you live in Infernum Terra; Paradise and Death. Paradise is the dry season, which means that all the rain stops and for a month you can get supplies into the yard and work on getting resources for the next fourteen months, as a planetary year for them in fifteen months. The other season, death season, is where chaos rules. Chaos grows strong these times and the battles for survival for these people are extraordinary. During Paradise, the only dangers are the seas that host the horrid places and some of the cattle, which consist of three meter tall ants, invisible snakes and some other reptiles. But the worst is in Death. All ships that sail will be either ripped apart by 40 meter long sharks with razor sharp teeth, torn asunder by the vicious storms, raided by pirates or be lost at sea by some unfortunate events. The flora and fauna really show their true colours, with strange and deadly creatures such as giant five meter long meat eating reptiles, poisonous crabs that can kill you in five seconds, octopi that can crawl on land, bands of monkeys that have twelve arms and six legs and fifteen Centre meter long birds with razor sharp wings and claws able to render flesh off bone.
But Chaos and the Imperium aren’t the only warriors there, three hundred years after the Heresy and the break of the planet, a whole fleet of Ork ships crashed into the aisles, and from there occupied a small number of islands with each different in tribes.
But this hostile environment is home to some of the most grizzled soldiers. They are called the Marine Corps, and are deployed for amphibious warfare. These troops are instrumental in ambush and predator scenarios and have the experience to kill many different types of Chaos Marines in closed warfare, such as jungle. Often mistaken for the Catachan, the Marines have only got 8 regiments, all named after what they served in. No other regiments before these have been raised as more men join into the regiments for which battles they fight in. Those who fight in Guadalcanal, a small 10km strip of land instrumental because of the airfield in the centre have become in the regiment. The governor is also Supreme Commander of the Marines and leads them into battle, with only the best warriors going to being Governor and they have 6 terms each. The current Supreme Commander is William H Rupertus.
The Marines respect only those who can fight, with the Catachan their most admired. The two men from different planets are like long lost twins, going into battle with each other’s men shoulder-to-shoulder one with grim determination to stop the waves and the other with bounding glee to get into combat with a machete in hand. These warriors have unswerving loyalty and pick off their weak, the weakest going into the tank divisions, 11th Marines or being dead in a ditch. They will never break in the face of an enemy and are masters of the jungle, rivalling the Catachan’s skills. They have been taught to adapt and to test which Marines go into battle, put the Marines into the front lines of their assigned unit where they have to survive the battle, find suffice food and follow orders of the Chief as they call the permanent veterans who take charge of the outpost. Each regiment is good at particular things; Guadalcanal’s men are masters of Hit & Run warfare and natural born survivors of the dense jungles. They usually have to survive ambush. Peleliu’s men are men of ash warfare as they call it, stomping through dead terrain and with no fire support from the 11th Marines, learning how to take on an assault with few men with minimal cover. Okinawans as they are called are masters of rocky and mud warfare, usually deployed with the most horrible jobs. Cape Gloucester’s men have to wade through thick swamp, high flowing rivers and the worst of the natural environment, as it has the worst taint. Cape Gloucester has the highest suicide and death rate but those who come out are the most resilient, able to face the occasional daemon, dense jungles, horrifying swamp creatures, mutated nine meter long crocodiles, piranha’s that are six foot long, terror monkeys and the chaos tribe that resides there that dedicates themselves to Slaanesh. They are the best at both survival without re-enforcements and amphibious warfare, normally on the front lines or behind enemy lines. Iwo Jima, a reserve regiment, is the best at vehicle and beach and spearheads warfare as they launch spearheads on a medium sized piece of land that is just sand, rocks, dead forest. The Iwo Jimans are also the best at city conflicts as they are also the best at city warfare, fighting the Fallen and Orks in the lost hive city of Dane, the main lines of breeding the very best Hellhounds. The Marines are trained very harshly for 1 month before being ready for deployment in which means serving small times in different places.

• Soldadu is one of the 2 moons in which the final stages of training are finished. Many a man has died on the barren wastelands, their body left for dead on the lifeless shell of a moon. The whole entire expanse is just crater after crater and it is a place that you would rather kill yourself than live on the surface. For weeks, the Marines live on this rock. They have to dig out their lives, having no room for error as they have to wear re-breathers or they will die a painful death. They carve out their own living with only their gear, some weapons and some other things. This planet is mainly for the vehicle drivers to learn how to adapt. The only thing you can see in the entire expanse is the massive space port that hosts the entire trading route of the Mortem Cluster, being in the perfect place of travelling interstellar. The vigorous training program is that good that the Storm Troopers train on the surface, having to reach the Space Port or some other mission. The population of the entire expanse is 6000 souls, although most of them are the Mechanics and the operators of the port, there are some military personnel there. The Governor of Soldadu goes by the name of Olsen, a man with only one leg who was actually a Storm Trooper that had his leg cut straight off while training on this rock and he was left there.

• Bezivotan is the main training ground for most normal troops. It brings them together and the final organisational force is selected there. It is in the same orbit as Graha, being one of the 15 moons orbiting the planet. The planet is almost impossible to reach for the enemy, being the outer-most inhabitable planet in the cluster it has a defensive mechanism through its belt and is one of the defences of Graha as well. The asteroids around the planet form a neat little belt, great training for the Valkyrie transports. But if you don't have the code, there is a death camp there waiting for you. The asteroids are rigged with an ancient mechanism predicted by the Tech-Priests to be planted there by humanity around the 39th Millennium. The device consists of a network of asteroids that when the mechanism is brought to life, a prism of cutting edge laser technology is activated and the ship is boxed in or cut into smithereens. The whole planet consists of a barren desert and storms that rage on for hundreds of years. Sifting rock and earthquakes are common place, the ground constantly shifting and entire civilisations and cities can be swallowed whole by the earth and cease to exist. The air is breathable though from a stabiliser in the stable part of the planet and this also is where the gravity is made and then comes the bases. The whole population of the planet permanently is 900 personnel, almost all of them engineers and trainers. This is where they train the Infantry there primarily, sending them out of the safe zone as its called; A small patch of city and training grounds, to the dead zones which consist of Bandit Haven, a place where renegades are sent and the Infantry have to push through mutants, the clinically insane, sorcerers, some of Vipers worst mutants that couldn't be killed and some of the worst Orks and Chaos from Pacifius, Stirilis is a desert with imported animals and death awaiting them through a third of the planet, the last section of the planet is one that is the most dangerous, for where the last place is it is full of the worst storms in history, where every disaster imaginable has happened on the island...

A Marine of the Mortem Cluster
The Cluster was claimed in 500.M41 by Imperial Guard forces but 120 years after the colonisation of the planets a Chaos renegade army under the command of a renegade Ultra-Marine Librarian Oman Ulf attacked the cluster, laying waste to the moons of Soldadu and Kunza. But they were defeated by the tenacious Marines on Pacifius Prime but sacrificed their whole world, which is now a small cluster of islands in which they do battle against the remaining Chaos forces. 190 years after the massive Chaos Invasion WAAAAGH! Snipsnix raged through the cluster but was thrown into dis-array when the remaining K Marines landed on the recently taken planet of Viper and with the help of the Catachan 17th the tattered garrison force slaughtered the Orks in droves and then the K Marines leader duelled the warlord in one-on-one combat which lasted two house in which Puller choked Snipsnix to death with the Orks own Klaw.The Marines are also normally dubbed the 'Mortem Legion' as they also boast a whole successor Chapter of the Dark Angels and a Howling Griffon's attachment. The Marines are mainly deployed for amphibious missions, that being their main focus, but the same is true for jungle-worlds, space missions (as detailed on Herodias V) and city fighting.
The planets have become so attuned that they all count themselves as one military corps than a dozen worlds, called the Marines as they all participate in every war with each other. Bezivotan and Soldadu are the finishing stages of the training, where the Marines are finally drilled as one unit, the bases are harsh and unforgiving; Bezivotan is a moon that has nothing on it and is only craters and a city. There the soldiers train for space combat. Soldadu is a desert moon with mountainous terrain and with only one source of water and boasts some of the most dangerous creatures in the cluster.

The 11th Battalion which is the only force currently in deployment is under the command of Colonel Straken and Advised by Commander Chenkov. K Marines lost over 3/4 of their men to the clutches of the 3rd Armageddon war, the remainder of the men being thrown carelessly into the foray of Okinawa, where a gruelling offensive took place that cost the lives of thousands, but the planet of Pacifius Prime survived by the lucky timing of the battalion who got the best of the remaining soldiers and recruited them of both planets. The 11th re-enforced have seen their share, but are currently stationed in the cluster alongside a detachment of Dark Angels. Rumours have been spread to the ears of the Colonel that a heretic leader has risen, as a fear of a WAAAGH! Has been spread through the inhabitants of Dacha that a local Warlord has been terrorising a village, even as a cult has been spreading violently and Machi is being slowly turned into a battlefield, even as Nix's domes are slowly cracking and more and more inhabitants are dying, when the moon of Soldadu is creeping ever closer to Graha and the Marines are still reeling from the attack on Pacifius Prime and even more so from Armageddon. But it isn't all grim-dark, as the Colonel and his 11th are keeping ever-vigilant eyes over the cluster, the soldiers of the Marines willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of the Galaxy in the Name of the Emperor and mother Mortem…

The training of the Marines is a nearly impossible feat for most but the hardiest. Only the foolishly brave man will even dare this course. The infantry of the regiments are taken from Viper and Pacifius Prime and are trained through the worst conditions through differing environment. After a basic training in the warfare of jungle fighting, trench warfare, Heavy Weapons and common sense on the battlefield, the soldiers are chosen according to their effort in training to become one of the following:

-The Trench Rats are called just that; Rats. They are usually the small soldiers, the weak and most innocent, the fodder of the Imperium. They are recruited from every planet in the cluster and it is a disgrace to become one of them from Viper and Pacifius. They are spat on and regarded as scum. But they have the hardest and worst job to imagine. They firstly are brought from the planets to Okinawa and Peleliu where they have to wipe the island clean of the Chaos Marines. Then they are directly forwarded to the moons where they pass both of them and then they are ready for deployment. While waiting though, they are put on duty to Machi where they act as enforcement. This mainly now goes for the Jiao men, where now the whole process has been taken single-handedly by Chenkov, where he has his own training session. He leads them personally through Bezivotan and Soldadu and kills those that he finds impure and weaker than the rest. These men also mainly make up what is now called the Conscription units and are usually ordered to arm themselves with whatever they can and are expected to follow orders, acting like the strict Mordian Iron Guard.

-The Marine Trooper is a man who is brave hearted soldier, bordering on the verge of insane. After being recruited from Pacifius Prime, Jiao or Viper only, the trooper is formed into a company of 100-500 men and given a basic training in the art of Amphibious Assaults. From there they get field experience, becoming the Expendary force, fighting head on the beaches against an enemy they don't know and can't see. They stay there until the island is conquered and then they are re-assigned to a duty to the Solomon's where they meet the man responsible for this; Puller. He takes them on a tour and then assigns them to take the mainland of Infernum Terra. Those that survive the ordeal are then deployed on Viper or Jiao and are ordered to hunt down a monster. Those that survive that are assigned in order of platoon in order to give them a sense of equality so they won't bicker on the field and cause more deaths. They are then given 5 companies and assigned to Bezivotan where they have to decide whose leader while they make their way to the Safe Zone. Then the Grand Master of the Marines and the Director give each one of them a helmet with their squad markings on it. They assemble then on Graha and the Departmento Munitorium is called and the army is stationed there until they are deployed.

-The pioneer and jungle fighter battalions such as Red Company and the Nix Snipers are to be trained in the harsh world of Cape Gloucester, serving there for a year then are to be taken to the Solomon's and serve there for a couple of months at a time. Then they are to be in the Viper's bosom, where they work in small platoons to hunt a mutant and it's head back. From there the survivors land on the planet of Soldadu where they get dropped off in the middle of the planet, having to find a way back before they die. Some companies never make it out alive… But those that do are then sent off to the deadliest warzones, ready for anything.

Heroes of Mortem
As the 11th is the 3rd oldest battalions of the cluster, it has been decorated many times and re-made no less than 3 times. There are few survivors as like the various regiments such as the Penal Legion's and the Tanith's First and Only, the Marines are the meat-grinder units, or as the commanders call them: "Raggedy assed Marines". There are many heroes though, some of them mentioned here. Note that the 11th has been re-made many times and participated in nearly every single battle of the Marines, being one of the three battalions first made.

• A.A. Vandegrift is one of the most celebrated men in the entire cluster, earning a reputation far beyond that of any other mortal. Hailing from the Pacifius Prime, Vandegrift was a man of valour and courage. He personally lead the Marines on many fronts, taking advantage of their specialty. He was killed on the final days of the Sabbat Worlds Campaign on Fortis Binary, where he saved young William H Rupertus from an Iron Warrior Space Marine. He had been on 79 tours of duty with 34 medals including the highest award the Emperor can give: The Star of Terra for his service in spotting a renegade counter-attack while in the final days of his career on Srady bay, where him and three other men from his command squad single-handedly took the whole army force that equalled to over 100,000 troops and held a Deathstrike Missile launcher so it had enough time to launch it's cargo and turn the tide of the battle.

• Colonel Puller is a proud, lean and intimidating figure. It is said that he beat a Daemon Prince up with one hand behind his back and that he single-handedly choked a 25 meter long Pacifius-shark to death with it's own tail. Whether or not these things are true, Colonel Puller has been dubbed the Man who will Never Die. He is riddled with scars and wounds that will never heal and is still fighting through what most men would just collapse and kill themselves out of pity. It is hard to believe though that this grizzled Commissar came from the Mortem-Cluster. He was born and bred a soldier of the Marines and served with them on some of their most famous fronts including the III War for Armageddon, Bealleu Woods and the Sabbat Worlds just to name a few. But he is the living proof of a screw up from the Departmento Munitorium and an Over-Lord. While battling on Fortis Binary, recently promoted Captain, he was mistaken for a commissar and so was given a uniform despite his protests and from then on he was dubbed Colonel Puller. He has continued more tours of duty than any Marine has ever had, the record of 189 Tours of Duty and with 68 Medals including the Silver Bullet for single-handedly killing the Commander of the Iron Warriors Legion with a las-pistol from 60 Meters away while battling through an axe to the shoulder and a bolter round to the stomach. Woe to those who follow him as he is laughing maniac that thinks that pain is something to be embraced and those that follow him into battle normally find themselves face to face with things that a person wouldn't dream up in their worst nightmares. Those who follow him are called the Madmen and so far only two men have followed him into battle and survived, though one committed suicide shortly after and the other one went insane.

• Neve Yusuf is dubbed the Primarch of the Mortem Legion, for which some people call them. A fellow Commissar that actually lead a crusade here after one of the outer-planets was captured. With the help of the Catachan 93rd, the Tallarn 23rd, Krieg 83rd, Mordian 34th and the Penal Legions 938th, captured the planet and got the signal to advance forward. They captured every single one of the planets that houses the Marines now plus two other moons which were to be destroyed. After a war on the jungles of Pacifius Prime, the Lord Commissar at the time was made Governor and still conquered the other planets, Machi and Jiao getting built in a matter of days. There was peace time as the armies were told to garrison there and to protect the settlers. But the peace ended in a hundred years on. There was friction between the planets like Graha to Pacifius, as Pacifius was getting next to no food when the moon was eating a plenty. But Yusuf changed that when a Chaos invasion had come in and rebellion started. The twin moon of Tine fell but the Chaos didn't see the wise commencing of Imperialis Exterminatus, which destroyed the moon. The next plane that fell was the outer-most planet of Sindh fell and chaos blew the whole planet up after capturing it. It was Neve Yusuf who rallied the planet to align as one and crush the crusade, Pacifius Prime fared the worst planet, but survived as did the other planets. Yusuf trumped the 1,000,000,000,000 strong Chaos force with an armoured convoy. The Chaos Sorcerer Yyinmabvigh Fasndi sunk the planet and heavily wounded Yusuf. After the spell was recited, Neve de-capitated the sorcerer and died later that night in a medical station. He had 24 tours of duty and earned 13 medals including Primarch which was pinned onto him while he was in hospital made from the bone of the sacred animal, Xeno-Shark.

• Leman Russ Commander Souvenirs is a commander that is a curious and an odd-ball of a man. Born on Machi but was one of the many settlers for the Jiao and recruited. During the War for Kiev, the heavy bolter firer found an old abandoned Leman Russ; In terrible condition but was his only chance as he was isolated and alone, boarded the vehicle and found it operational. Already learning how to work it, Souvenirs' set out for his friendly trenches but instead found himself in the middle of the Eastern Front, the last resistance being quickly exterminated. The Eastern Front had fallen so the commander got as many as he could in the tank and made runs, destroying trenches and ferrying troops to the Western Front. After the Eastern Front, the now found-out Leman Russ Punisher was then deployed in the Western Front, where he lead a whole tank column and annihilated the light infantry of the renegades. He was then de-deployed on the Space Battle over Herodias V, where he single-handedly found out how to fly the Tau ship and destroyed numerous cruisers. Then he was sent to the 3rd War in Armageddon where he and his Punisher utterly crushed the Tank Heavy army of the Orks and on Okinawa where he destroyed a whole Chaos advance that would've crushed the Marines. He skills with a Leman Russ are said to rival that of Pask. He is now Governor of Machi. He has 19 Tours of Duty and 5 Medals including the Navy Seal for Herodias V. What he is known for most though is collecting the salvage of differing wreckages of both vehicles and assortments of equipment he claims "Will work" This way though he has killed many men trying out his new experiments like the disaster of 988.M41 on the moon Soldadu, he tried to re-wire a necron soldier that he captured but it failed utterly and cost the lives of 16 Guardsmen and he was wounded in the process.

• Sgt John Basilone or as he was known; the Hero of Guadalcanal. Basilone was cut off from supply routes at about 9:00pm at night on Guadalcanal. He had under his command 40 men, of which very few made it back. He had no supplies or re-enforcements as the Fallen as they were known, charged the defensive position, persuading the orks to attack as well, giving them a force of 4000 men. Personally leading the defence, John Basilone fought with his auto-cannon in his hands but lost all ammunition for the gun so picked up a heavy bolter instead. He told his men to guard the small set of fox-holes and ran to get ammunition, with one other that was part of his team. Personally arming the beast of a machine, he cut through all the Fallen and when losing ammunition, with a las-pistol and machete. He finally reached the ammunition tent and got nineteen boxes of .98 Heavy Bolter rounds and ran back to the position, meeting heavy resistance. He picked up nine other Marines who were lost in the jungle and returned them to the fox-holes, giving them rifles and exact words “Let’s kill a few of these bastards before we’re slaughtered eh?” and in the first hour of the next day, the platoon under Basilone picked up rifles to face the in-coming hoard, in which time Basilone de-capitated the heavy Fallen and picked up his heavy bolter, personally driving the enemy back, with the cheering guardsman in tow. By dawn, the tally of the Marines was sixty-to-one.
Basilone then re-joined the Marines for Iwo Jima, becoming part of the Platoon Command Squad with an Autocannon that he customized himself.
But John was slain also in the III War of Armageddon on the fourth wave, being cut down by a machine gun on the fire wastes while leading a whole regiment to the fox-holes created by the shelling of the artillery leading the airport.
All in all, Sgt John Basilone was awarded the Marines Medal of Honour for doing what he did, a Dark Angel dagger that he wore to battle as he saved one of them during the fighting, Golden Eagle for his bravery to lead the charge on Armageddon which saw a break-through in their lines, Purple Eagle for dying on Armageddon, Armageddon Badge for his bravery to stand up for the Orks , Guadalcanal Badge, Iwo Jima badge, golden bullet award for how many he killed while he made both his autocannon and heavy bolter portable and suffered 3rd Degree burns all along his arms, Commissar Recommendation for Colonel, 3 Tours of Duty including Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima which he was there for nine days, just mopping up resistance and Armageddon and finally 2 Brave-heart Medals, for his actions on both fronts of Guadalcanal and Armageddon, where he lead his force through heavy machine gun fire to the airport when he went to get the second wave in which he was unlucky and got shot charging with over 900 troops in a cross fire of Shoota’s, customized mortars, battle-cannons and others.

He most celebrated heroes of the Marines, the Saviour; Neve Yusuf, who founded this planet in the name of the Emperor. He spent his 15 year career as Commissar in time. He had 5 Tours of Duty.
When he came to this lustrous planet, he found some dark inhabitants of broken small tribes of what was the Penal Legion 934th, an Eldar force and Tau force, all of which were in the middle of a fire fight in the jungle. Under Yusuf, who was a Lord Commissar at the time, the Catachan 93rd rallied the remaining Penal Legion and killed the remaining Tau force using Guerrilla tactics, destroying supply lines and making free-fire zones. Many soldiers on all 3 sides were slain or wounded over the course of 109 planetary rotations. The final front came in the middle of what is now just 25km east of the Solomon Islands, where Tau and Eldar were forced side by side against the final platoons. But the Eldar had a trick up their sleeve. When the Catachan and Tau deployed against each other in the middle of the dark marsh, the Eldar came down from the trees and smashed through Yusuf’s lines but Yusuf, un-afraid by any of this, ran to the trees and with his platoon command squad, found and killed the exarch of the host by killing all her body-guards and finally engaging in a duel with the exarch him-self that lasted an hour and a half. At the climax of the duel the exarch cut off his arm with the sword in the dead hand and pressed her attack. She stabbed at his heart, only to find his officer taking the blow and the commissar, getting the officers chainsword, cut the warlord in half. The combined Catachan and Penal Legion combined drove the remaining Eldar off the face of the planet, destroying any portals. The Tau weren’t giving up that easy though, and retreated back to the final stand; The Ocean. Completely unprepared, the Catachan took almost unbearable casualties and ran into the jungle. But then on the run from the forces with only quarter strength, Yusuf stumbled upon an Imperial Factory. The Leman Russ crew (Of which their tank was wrecked) got the ancient machinery dating back to the Golden Age of Technology. They then requested a Tech Priest come down to help them get it up and running. Then the Tau came for a counter-attack. It was the Lord Commissar himself that led his small Platoon Command Squad and a specialist squad into the jungle and was ambushed. But the Lord Commissar was ready and the demolitions around them were detonated. Yusuf was correct on his strategy when he found almost 600 soldiers of the Tau dead. Four years the Catachan and Penal Legions fought side-by-side, the transport ship that was orbiting destroyed long ago. The Tau were in bigger numbers though, thousands assaulting so few, but what was then called Red Company from the amount of blood spilled, finally saw the orbital drop-ships arrive. The Tau was getting desperate and so launched one final counter-attack. Nineteen thousand aliens attacked the guard that were numbering at about 400 men. They attacked but Yusuf was ready. He sent the demolitions, snipers, heavy flamers and melta guns to lie in ambush and the last of the remaining infantry squads to lie in wait. They ambushed the Tau force at mid-night and the fighting continued for six hours. The guard were getting desperate as they were taking heavy casualties and the Tau was starting to get the upper hand. But just as only a few platoons were left and the Yusuf was fighting a desperate battle some 500 meters from the factory where only 145 wounded Catachan and Penal Legion held the lines, the skies were filled with Valkyries and out-came the re-enforcements. The storm-troopers landed with dozens of light-terrain vehicles. They pushed the remaining forces of the Tau back and then Yusuf had an idea that wouldn’t get his men killed. He had tried with Closed-topped Chimera, so what about open-topped Chimera. The drivers were out-raged but with a lot of executing and persuasion, he ripped off the Chimera’s roof. 15 Chimera all with men inside them rushed at the enemy and mowed those unlucky to be in their way. In the final stand, the Imperial Guard Chimera went into the lake to do battle against the Tau that was stationed in the middle of it. In the fight that ensured, Yusuf got out of his vehicle, now dressed as a common soldier, and swam with chainsword in hand into battle with the commander. He destroyed the tank the commander was in and brought down the chainsword once the commander was in the water before getting himself onto another piece and slaying the tank that was causing heavy casualties to the guard. The Catachan Penal Legion made short work of the remaining Tau. Because of his actions during what was called the Prime Wars, Yusuf was named Governor of Pacifius Prime. As his first action, he informed the Tech-Priests that he will keep the factory running, which caused outrage. Colonists began to arrive and under the command of the Ex-Commissar the Hive City began to thrive and continued to do so for 125 years. There were 3 Hive cities then; the water city Pacifius, desert city Dune and the jungle city which also was the biggest called Oden, which stretched from The Solomon Islands to Okinawa to Peleliu. But then the rebellion broke out and Yusuf sent out his best snipers to assassinate the leader. None of the exhibition returned. The Penal Legions of Pacifius broke out and joined the rebellion as well. Taking the threat to heart, Yusuf raised 24 regiments and responded in earnest, protecting the people. At the for-front of the fight he led his soldiers, slaying the renegades. But they retreated and so started a Guerrilla War between the two. The Renegades took Dune and re-named it after their leader, Japokin; An Ex-Penal Legion warrior. The inhabitants of Dune were captured and got the choice to be turned or experimented on. Then the final blow came against the planet as Yusuf was driving the insurgents out of Oden when Japokin was smashed by a hundred meteors. What came out was the biggest Chaos legion numbering almost 1,000,000,000 Chaos Marines landed from nineteen different fallen chapters including the Fallen, Thousand Sons, Night Legion, Emperors Children and many more. Yusuf had but one option. Sacrifice.
Yusuf ordered all civilians to either take up arms with the regiments of the guard or evacuate to Pacifius. Yusuf then ordered an orbital bombardment on his position when he told them to. The Imperial Guard ships had arrived in earnest. Six regiments landed along-side the remaining mostly conscript legions. The Chaos armies charged the city.
Over the sixty days that followed three other regiments of Imperial Guard and a whole company of Imperial Fist’s joined the battle against chaos as war was waged in both the land, the sky and the sea. But it wasn’t enough. The forces of the guard were slowly being crushed at the hands of the Japokin. So in a reckless move, Neve Yusuf ordered his men to fall back and re-group in the wake of the enemy with maximum resistance. The chaos had acted just like Yusuf planned, they pushed their attack forwards. Then he brought his trump card; The Armoured convoy. Sixteen Thousand Leman Russ, four thousand Bane blades and untold millions of Chimera, Hellhounds and Sentinels charged forward with the support of a hundred Colossus, Hydras, Basilisks and thousands of Vendettas and Valkyries. Drawing the wedge through the lines, the combined armies, under the command still of the Commissar, crushed the renegades and chased them back to Japokin. In the final stages of the battle, the last of the remaining Pacifius regiments pushed forward on foot led by Yusuf. With Chainsword in hand, they climbed up to the tallest building where the leader was residing with the statement of “He shall pay in blood for tainting my world!” And with the last of the Imperial Fists, broke through into the building. Inside the building was where the trump had been activated to trump the Hammer of the Emperor. The sorcerer Yyinmabvigh Fasndi of Tzeench engaged the Commissar with chainsword against Chainsword as they inflicted wound after wound with the battle in the building taking place. Brother against brother. Imperial Fists up against their fallen, the civilians against their brothers. In the battle that followed, Yusuf was severely injured and had his leg cut off. The sorcerer was re-citing the spell when Neve got up and de-capitated the sorcerer but it was too late. The war was over and the guard were retreating. Pacifius had fallen. Yusuf died of his wounds later that night, a mere 4 hours after the world burned. Pacifius Hive had become Americanos Prime and Dune was turned into Japokin. Oden is now completely sunk, except for the last remaining out-skirts in Peleliu, some of the inner-city in Iwo Jima and the Military base in Okinawa and some of the city as well. Guadalcanal also has the air-field built during the war to bring supplies to the Guard.
In Yusuf’s career he had done 23 Tours of Duty, 24 medals including the Purple Eagle, Twice Winner of the Golden Eagle, the Silver Bullet 4 times and the Saviour medal 3 Times. He is one of the few in the Hall of Remembrance along with the names of the Moore Corps, Lecky’s Band, Sgt John Basilone, A.A Vandergrift, Colonel Puller and R.V Burgin. To this day he is still a celebrated Marine and has a feast day in his honour that celebrates what was sacrificed to give them a home and the sacrifices they made.



• Colonel Straken needs no explanation, other than the Hard as Nails Catachan Cyborg. He is one of the most celebrated heroes of the Imperium, and has now been attached to the Marines as part of the Catachan 117th.

• Nork Deddog is a ruthless, smart Ogryn who is supremely protective of his officer. He can count to 4, speak short sentences and can sign his name! He was attached to the Colonel as part of a war and now accompanies the Marines, although he still is utterly dumbfounded by the abhumans of Dacha, learning the alphabet, how to kill a Xeno-cow and many more techniques from the wise Dacha soldiers, who have adopted him into their own ranks.

• Moore Corps is a small unit consisting of the finest heavy weapons teams in the whole cluster. The unit started on the grim world of Fortis Binary when the 27 men with specialist weapons, mainly mortars and heavy bolters (For which the Corps is famous for) were instrumental for the survival of the whole regiment charging, killing every time they fired. 9 of the 27 men were Boson. After Fortis the unit was christened and fights to this day with only three men left: Sledgehammer, RV Burgin, and Snafu who weren't apart of the original group. The company has boasted none other than the infamous Lucky and John Basilone and has been one of the most famous weapon teams in the Imperium.

• Commander Chenkov is a dour and stubborn man, who is blunt in everything he does; From ordering what he wants in a restaurant to the grim darkness of the battlefield. He really is grim-dark. But he is blunt and precise and can be seen keeping a stern eye on the battlefield. When the 18th Vallahan was once again destroyed under the might of the Ork Hoard on Armageddon and the survivors going into Thegn's Oddballs, Chenkov was re-assigned to the Marines. He now leads the Trench Rats from the front.

• William H Rupertus is said to be the reincarnation of the legendary Vandegrift and Yusuf as he was the full blood great grandson of Yusuf and learned on the field, seeing Vandegrift die at Fortis Binary. Rupertus lead the Marines on many fronts including the 3rd War for Armageddon, Bealleu Woods, the final hours of Fortis Binary and the space battle of Herodias V to name a few. He is named the Over-Lord of the Marines and is a decorated Marine; Earning no less than 38 Medals of Honour including the Silver Bullet in the battle of Fief, where he picked up a fallen comrades sniper rifle and killed a Chaos Sorcerer over 200 Miles away where the Cadian 84th and the Marines were getting slaughtered by Obliterators trying to get to the havoc wreaker.

• Lieutenant Lucky is named for just that; Being Lucky. He has survived things that many have called impossible. He was in some of the stiffest and worst meat-grinders in the Fallen War, including the battle of Sift River where he was part of a heavy weapon company. He is most famous for the Ork Shoota he found after the battle and dubbed it from then on Vincent after his friend that was slain during the battle. After going AWOL while on leave, Lucky was re-assigned to Cape Gloucester and while there found a plan for an enemy counter-attack that would cut off the supply lines and slowly decimate the supply of mineral deposits. He was wounded but saved Gloucester, one of the officers claiming the responsibility. He was then to lead his force once again in the final battle of Pacifius, where he single-handedly saved the life of none other than Belial, Master of Deathwing. Then in the 3rd War of Armageddon he was deployed as a gunner for a Chimera that was his squad. He was deployed and with Vincent in hand, deployed in the worst firing zones before being wounded when trying to get a medic to his wounded friend. He has had 5 Tours of Duty and 2 Medals; A Dark Angel shoulder pad and the Bronze Eagle for his actions of clearing a bunker of Orks that was pinning down a whole company of Armageddon soldiers.

• Air Marshal 'Ace' Swimmer is Graha's most remembered hero. He is simply known as the Ace. A Graha man, he was born on nobility and went into the Admiral Fleet of the Emperor. He was instructed during the War over Herodias V as a Valkyrie pilot to transport the guardsmen squadrons to the surface of the planet but when the orders were given, it was Ace who in the confusion grabbed a handful of the peaceful Vastus, (Except for Boas Husk, who was roaring in delight the entire time) three of the last ones ordered to leave the ship to the Tau Cruisers. He lead the assault of the Valkyries, personally finding the weak spot of one of the cruisers when almost two dozen other ships raced forward to be crushed. He punched a hole through the massive hulk and set down his men and single-handedly from there lead a squad of three Vendetta's that were in his squad to battle against an assault squad of nineteen small Tau fighters, distracting them from the ships embarking the infantry squads onto the Cruiser. But when things turned to worst, the leading cruiser of the Tau open-firing onto the recently captured Tau cruiser, he found the one weakness and despite being told against it, launched every single rocket he had available into the engines of the Power Generator and destroyed the massive destroyer that had downed 6 Guard Destroyers personally. Ace was awarded the Bronze Eagle for his actions over Herodias V and kept his Valkyrie. He was de-commissioned shortly after the battle after hanging the High Marshal of the Destroyer 'Raymond' after the Marshal went rogue and just escaped. He enlisted in the army until he was severely wounded when his squad was ambushed while on a patrol by Orks. He was the only survivor, but killed three of them. Because of the wound to his leg, he couldn't be deployed on the ground as an assault trooper so he was discharged but then volunteered for battle to be a pilot of an assault transport carrier and so as destiny had it, was assigned to the Eye of Graha.

• Chinee 'Chainsword' José came from the ashes of the Guardsman Marbo. The Inquisition was getting suspicious so as a debt to Straken who saved the life of Rupertus, Marbo was granted a change in name and was adopted by the Marines, who proceeded to call him Chainsword Jose. He has served the Marines well and now fights to protect the Catachan 117th. In return for this, Marbo or Chinee has served them well and has earned Nine Badges including the Bronze Eagle for his effort in the War for Sough IX, where Jose killed a Rogue assassin while serving alongside Straken, moving into the field of fire of the sniper and then wounded, ran inside the building and blew it up, killing the assassin and almost killing himself. But, another man from Machi who joined the army did have the name of Chinee José, so they struck a bargain; Chinee will fight beside Marbo and the two will act as one personality split into two. Chinee and Marbo act as separate personalities and most people believe that the same person suffers from bi-polar disease.

• Thegn Igor is a grim, quiet and insane soldier from Nix V. He was unlucky when on his first tour of duty in Belleau Woods; His squad including the vox-caster was slain during an ambush. He survived but found out the Marines had been re-routed and so took it upon himself to find the Marines. After 6 years wondering the blasted planet, he found the first signs of life in the form of a small city but came in on the wrong time, the Departmento Munitorium was recruiting. He was conscripted and promoted to Junior Officer, where he lead the Belleau 5th into battle but instead of obeying orders, but after the first tour of duty for the 5th, it was combined with the 29th Gust Regiment who then fought over 38 planets and by the end they had become the Armageddon, Cadian, Gust, Fyfe, Tajo, Heft and Belleau 5th and were re-deployed to Armageddon during the III war. After fighting on three dozen warzones on Armageddon, the new 'Dead Oddball' Colonel was Igor, disobeyed the generals orders about slaughtering everyone in his unit and fought his way across the whole city to save the Marines, killing the Ork army that was slaughtering the tired and weary Marines. The Marines found this sight a bit of a weird mix; A hundred different regiments together fighting different styles but surprisingly as one. Thegn hurriedly showed his dog-tags belonging to the Marines and so the 'Thegn's Oddballs' were adopted by the Marines but Chenkov had other plans. Now the Oddballs are deployed to the Trench Rats under the command of Commander Chenkov with the 18th Vallahan.

• Chef Feign Arc is one of the well remembered heroes of the Jiao Pillage. Before the unfortunate incident, he was a retired veteran that had just toured Frail and Mortem Cluster during the WAAAGH! Hoff in the system in 958.M41 and the uprising of Bahia Otsu in 961.M41. He was severely wounded during the battle of Frail in 954.M41, when his convoy of supplies came under fire by Eldar. After that though he was determined to get back into the lines, so became a cook and during the uprising on Guadalcanal, his whole campsite was ambushed by Chaos Commandos who were assigned to destroy the whole camp and kill all resistance. Armed with only a knife and a saucepan, he defended the hospital hosting over 30 medics and a centurion of wounded soldiers, only about two dozen who could fight and took up arms alongside him. He was wounded severely as he fought for almost a whole day against a force that had doubled in size and joined by a coalition of both Ork and Chaos forces. The force returned the next day, almost 27 hours later, to see the wreckage of their camp site and the injured and maimed soldiers fighting for dear life with a chef at the frontlines against a hoard of an enemy they had just slogged it out against. They finished off the invaders and the chef retired from warfare. The retired chef then became a governor of Jiao his home planet before resigning after a 2 year reign. In 973.M41 Feign was just a citizen when Jiao came under attack. He ordered everyone in his district to go underground and watched his city burn. Over the course of 5 years Feign ordered Guerrilla raids against the Dark Eldar. When the Marines arrived, he took care of them and showed them the enemy. He was finally slain in the final days of the battle when he pushed forward with his small unit and slayed the leader of the Dark Eldar with a rusty las-pistol but the lucky shot by Arc was short lived as one of the last surviving guard of the slain Dark Eldar Archon cut down the Chef. In his lifetime he had served 5 Tours of duty and achieved three awards; The Bronze Eagle for Guadalcanal, The Marine Service badge and the Purple Eagle.

• Boas Husk is unlike any of his race. He is taller, more muscular and violent. He has a blood lust that can't be sated any other way other than in battle. He also is the longest living soldier to ever have lived. He has toured nearly every single famous battle of the Marines, excluding the Jiao relief aid and the first frontiers of the Sabbat Worlds Campaign. True it is a fact that Boas can beat the famous Nork Deddog in a head-butting contest. His career began when he was just a little boy, growing up. A Greenskin tribe invaded his town in 765.M41 and the inhabitants were bravely getting slaughtered by the Orks, so the little boy strode up to the Trukk where the Ork Boss Tusk was yelling at his Boyz, punched the hull of the Trukk and reached through the hole he created and grabbed the Ork Boss and crushed him to death by hugging him and all the Orks fled in terror. His first tour of duty was Sverren, where they were ordered to charge a fully armoured entrenched position. Boas ran forward and sat on the machine gun emplacement that was slaughtering the Marines. But over the years his mind has sharpened but with that the horrors that he had to endure over the hundreds of years he has been conscripted. He is a grim figure twisted by an insanity and paranoia, only trusting his kind and some of the fellow Marines like Puller and Vandegrift, but after almost sending Husk to his death, Boas despises Rupertus in every way, but respects the commander. He adores bloodshed with a passion and builds himself into a frenzy that he got when he accidently drank Ork blood. He will kill anything, even his friends. He collects trophies and they adorn him on almost every part of his body, his most famous is the Ork Warlord Ghent's metal Jaw which he took during the III Armageddon War when he punched the Ork Warlord to death. Another is the great hammer he forged on his home planet which is rumoured to be made of the bone of Tyranids, Tau and Greenskin alike. He also always hated dragging around something he claimed to 'Be a waste of metal' so mounted a heavy bolter onto his wrist that once belonged to a Dark Angel before the Marine gave it to him. He found the Missile Launcher during Kiev in the Eastern Front clean-up. He also had his teeth re-moulded so they were 'like da' 'nids'. He has more than 120 Tours of Duty; Many of them at home. He has no medals but gives them to his friends. Though he wears around the Star of Terra because 'They're Scaring 'De Competition'. He says that 'der wounds are 'de symbols'.

Famous Battles of the Marines
The Fallen over Pacifius Prime:
Into the nineteenth day of Paradise on the year 998.M41, a ship beamed over from the horizon. The Marines were cheering, as the supply ships that they relied on hadn’t come as of yet. But when they saw the all too familiar mark of Chaos brandishing the Iron Beasts belly, they knew they were in for a tough few years, but this had happened before on many occasions so they knew what to expect. What they didn’t expect though is an entire legion of chaos emptying out of the ships, at its head; The Brother Aviv, a fallen of the Dark Angels who was also a terminator back then. Over the gruelling 135 days of fighting, the Marines were being broken and battered and yet they refused to give in, but were losing more casualties than they could regain. Heroes stood out in this huge campaign. The most controversial moment is when on the Eastern Solomon Island, now named Darei, and is when the Chaos Daemon Prince Fokine of Khorne and his minions fought the newly returned regiment of the 1st Marines Guadalcanal and with the combined might of the 11th Marines, killed the army but were wiped out to only a handful of soldiers. Sgt John Basilone was recognized here after he and his heavily depleted squad, consisting of only 15 heavy weapons teams, endured a rush of 4000 Khorne Berserks and defended the flank, him and his team member going into the deep jungle and fighting against the legions with machete and las-pistol, grabbing a heap of ammunition for his squads, which was only reduced to two other teams. He then told his men to pick up rifles and with a red hot heavy bolter in his hands; he fought the Chaos until daybreak, protecting the flanks of the Marines. The Lord Commissar fighting alongside the Marines, Colonel Puller was promised re-enforcements, so led his men on a suicide mission to distract the Daemon by trying to kill it any way they could. It was the commissar, by sheer might, that got up after being thrown across the plains of the island, and ran straight at the Prince, saving the last of his men by shooting the last of his bolt pistol into the prince and then jumping on the daemon and calving the daemons calf. The daemon picked him up and tried to eat him and that was his doom that by giving up himself as sacrifice, the commissar grabbed his belt of Melta bombs and attached to his sword, he dug it right into the throat while being swallowed. He was deemed M.I.A as the Daemon prince was banished to the warp. But three hours after the battle, when relief forces arrived, they found the remains of Puller and dragged him back to the Hive City and fixed him up.
When the next Paradise season began another ship came into the planet, but one that was unidentifiable. When they saw drop pods rain on the other island, Infernum Terra, they decided for one last chance. Over the course of 4 days, men retreated back into the Chimera transports and headed straight for the island. They got there to see a bloody stand between millions of chaos and only a centurion of the Dark Angels. The Marines under heavy fire got the Space Marines chapter to retreat, covering them. The Marines lost over half a legion of troops and left a whole nineteen platoons with a tank column to keep them distracted, of which none made it back home. The Dark Angels, though bitter and resentful, were thankful. Over the course of 80 days, all Marine regiments were evacuated and the Dark Angels got the entire 5th and 7th Company and one of the other chapters of Dark Angels, called the Brothers of Fire, landed to support the campaign. Also the Imperial Guard sent three whole regiments of guardsmen; The Catachan 21st, Tallarn 57th Raider Regiment and the Krieg 45th. They also sent the Vostroyan 76th Armoured regiment and Krieg 83rd Artillery, all headed by Lord William H Rupertus; the victor of many wars.
The other regiments that were foreign quickly adapted, although the tension was high as all of them were not kind to outsiders, the Krieg and Dark Angels especially. After about 25 days of training while the last of the regiments of the Marines took the outpost the other regiments were ordered to re-do their Chimera to make it opened top so then they can get out of the craft and not die in the vehicle. The Chimera then acted as boats, sailing the regiments around the island, although the 19th Platoon of Krieg never made it as it was destroyed by a Restless Shark who was hungry and neither did the hellhound ‘Acidic’ as it fell prey to Ork bandits. On Peleliu, six thousand troops of Krieg, Catachan, Vostroyan and Marines landed, taking the island in two months, in which almost a third of the troops were slaughtered. Port Gloucester, where only the 750 Catachan and Marines served, took heavy casualties over the four months of fighting, mostly from the tropical diseases and the natural wildlife and only encountering the foe twice, one of which was accidently stumbling onto an Ork tribe that just recently set up there and actually did the Marines a favour, killing off all Chaos from the island. Guadalcanal, after five months of dense terrain jungle fighting where the Tallarns, Marines and Catachan mainly took part, they were charged and held for two and a half months after taking the island. Iwo Jima, where parts of all four regiments served, took a beating from the chaos forces, almost a quarter of their forces died on the beaches before they retreated back into the neibouring island of Amin, of which they proceeded to bomb the island with the Manticores and Basilisks that had just come from Peleliu. After that the island was secure within ninety days with only another eighth of the army slain. From there the Dark Angels deployed alongside the Marines, taking Santa Cruz and then from there shelled Okinawa, before charging forward and along with half the force already on the beaches fighting, took part and slaughtered the Okinawan defenders who were loyal to Chaos.
Then from there they were counting on two things: one is that the striking force made of the northern hemisphere in Guam was ready, the Kriegsmen of the Solomon Islands and the Marines who were charging there were ready, the strike force of 2nd Company of Dark Angels were going to land right and then the Terminators would be allowed to deep strike right into the heart of the enemy and that the Vostroyan regiment, guarded by the Tallarns, would be ready to move from the south and the Artillery would be able to lay down fire when needed.
The Artillery pounded the island for four nights and five days, before sending the Death-strike Missiles into the heart of the Hive City and Manticore Rockets everywhere on the beaches and in the city.
The Marines left off of Santa Cruz with small detachments of other units charged in their Chimera and got onto Infernum Terra, expecting to see small patches of resistance, only to find out the hard way. Taking heavy fire, the Regiments charged straight into the heart of the enemy, the artillery called to fire on every beach head. The forward lines lost almost 65% of their troops to the beaches, but were told to keep on charging, especially when the newly enraged Lord Commissar joined the fray, taking up leading position as they charged straight into the thick tree line and still kept on pushing forward, losing almost two third of their army to the thick and dense jungle that became a marsh.
The leading charges of Guam had better luck, catching the defenders utterly surprised as they charge down, clashing with the Chaos Marines with machetes as it was too close to each other to kill with las-guns, although las-pistols were used. They only lost 900 of their 12000 men, and kept on charging, using the slopes that goes down to charge head on. Although they ground to a halt in the marshes, being attacked as they slogged through the marsh.
The Charge at Okinawa drove south until they were in the outline of the Dangerous Ocean and charged, being attacked from all sides as they charged straight into the southern beach head. They lost fifteen tanks and 400 men to the deeps and the defenders, who were surprised as well as the north. The tank column then faired heaps better to the other regiments, as they burned down a path and all the men got in their vehicles, waiting until they were out of the swamp. Only one vehicle was wrecked, the Chimera that held the Tallarns 15th Platoon.
The Dark Angels got the call at sunset, where all the forces had gotten to their check point and were bombing the city while they fought the fleeing marines. 6 Raven-wing biker battalions deployed beside the chokehold on the city. The whole army rushed ahead, apart from four Tallarn platoons and the Heavy Artillery division. The hive city was de-faced with chaos markings and symbols. Then came the counter attack from the defenders. The defenders were hiding in underground and came up, about nineteen thousand soldiers of the traitors and in the middle were brother Aviv. The Imperial Guard and Dark Angel allies called the Death-wing companies into deep striking. During the midst of a huge thunder-storm where you could only see five feet in front of you, a huge battle was made. The Imperial guard, now in shell holes from the basilisks and Manticores, fired rounds into the chaos marines and the chaos pumped the guard full of shells. The hellhounds, now useless because of all the rain, ran suicide missions, igniting themselves and engulfing entire squads of marines. Basilisk and Colossus rounds pounded the chaos and raptors that descended from above the tall spires wrecked Leman Russ’s and slaughtered infantry.
During the third day of the giant thunderstorm and the battle, the Terminators sergeant; Belial, who had been fighting with the Marines since the beginning of the campaign, slew the magician of chaos and then locked in combat with brother Aviv, but the Death-wing was slowly getting pushed back. But the guardsmen weren’t giving up. For one last try, Hellhounds raced, Leman Russ tanks blew holes in the chaos’ lines and the guardsmen ran, Colonel Puller at the front. They smashed into the chaos’ lines and with one final effort, tried to take the attention away from Belial. They succeeded as Belial and his small band of Death-wing finally mortally wounded Aviv, and captured him. The chaos marines went to take back their leader, but they were swiftly cut down by the guardsmen.
In the whole campaign, around 29,000 Imperial troops, including the Dark Angels, were killed, with an estimate of another 1900 missing and 34,000 troops wounded. The Green-skins lost over 600,000 and the chaos over 2,000,000 killed or wounded.
Chaos still haunts the island to this day though with the last remnants of the legions and small bands of Marauders attack the Marines. The orks as strong as always have re-built and are the main focus of the Marines, with a rogue chaos marine on the odd occasion. To this day the Marines that served beside the Dark Angels wear the dead Space Marines armour, as well as those of other Space Marine chapters on the Sabbat Worlds and those in Armageddon.

Sabbat Worlds Campaign:
4 full regiments of the Marines were raised for the Sabbat Campaign, led into battle by Alexander Vandergrift, a grizzled veteran who was the chief of the army. The count was sixteen thousand soldiers, LRV’s from the 1st Tank Division and artillery. They were to spearhead the planet of Formal Prime. They swiftly took to the forests and jungles and sewers of the world, digging in when possible. They nearly lost 1900 men the first few weeks of the conflict, but were instrumental in providing covering fire but when they joined the final push, 5000 Marines were either dead, missing or wounded, Alexander Vandergrift also, getting hit by a grenade and surviving horrendous wounds. Almost 1400 Marines of the tally that was dead or injured were hit by the Orbital bombardment and from there held a bitter resentment against the Warmaster Slaydo.
While on their way to the next planet on the troop transport ‘Hailer’ and the ship was boarded by chaos pirates and renegades. During the few hours that followed the Marines suffered 100 dead or wounded to the pirate force numbering in the dozens but with the help of a small squad of White Scars Space Marines and another force of the Samothrace 9th they slaughtered the pirates, although the ship was heavily damaged and with the crippled hyper-drive, the ship seeked help and another transport carried them to their next battle. ‘Hailed’ never made it to the field of battle, from there being preyed upon again and destroyed.
On Ashek II the Marines were thrown into the conflict, the 11th Marines pounding the Woe Machines but to no avail. Over 9000 Marines were literally slaughtered and another 3500 were wounded. When the titans arrived and destroyed the Woe Machines, the three months that followed the Marines were fighting a bitter battle against the forces of chaos, in which the Marines used bomb holes and titan and Woe Machine prints as cover to engage the enemy, sometimes using a building. One of the highly venerated snipers of the Marines; Finn Dusk of the 1st Marines Cape Gloucester came into light, killing a Slaanesh Noise Marine that was mowing down the Imperial forces. Taking a shot from 3 km away, he gained a headshot against the Chaos Marine. He was later crushed by a woe machine. After the massacre, only 1500 Marines were still fit to engage, but the small regiment that mainly consisted of the 11th Marines was rejected by Warmaster Slaydo and he attached the Marine Corps to the Kotzock 22nd who were also heavily depleted. The combined unit wasn’t deployed because Slaydo kept them in reserve.
They were then deployed on the world of Sverren and were in the initial assault and pushed forward despite the heavy raining. The Kotzock 22nd refused to go any further after the first machine gun firings but Vandergrift pushed his men on, leaving the Kotzock behind, and later executing the commander. The Marines lost 700 of their number to the fire that were either confirmed kills or were injured. They won the day though after getting near the entrenchment and burning the enemy out with flamers and shot them when they came out. They pushed to Nefr Hive City and lost over half their original number that they push for the city with for only 2 kilometres before retreating with the general. But then the officer in command of the siege used the basilisks and Manticores of the 11th Marines and the other siege weapons of the other factions which equalled up to sixty engines, and tore the cities defence’s apart before surging his troops in. Only three dozen Marines lost their lives and Vandergrift pushed forward. Only 17 Platoons and 4 tanks remained, including 3 quarters of the siege engines. They stormed the palace and this is where things really got interesting. They stormed the palace only to meet heavy bolters and las-cannons. The tanks couldn’t get through the doors so the Marines along with 2 other regiments of off-worlders fought on the inside. The pivotal point of this skirmish was when Vandergrift with support from the different regiments command squads, stormed the inner chamber to come face to face with a dozen Chaos Marines surrounding the second-in-command to the Magister, Pater Bucher. In the fighting that ensured the Chaos Marines were cutting down and shrugging off las-fire and were killing swathes of guardsmen, with more streaming to help. While the chaos was slaughtering the guardsmen, Vandergrift came face to face with the leader and without fear, engaged him in chainsword combat. But when Vandergrift was going to be cut in half, he pulled a bolt pistol onto the chaos marine and wounded it and he finished the Sergeant off. From there he drove a single line with his command squad and captured Bucher. Bucher resisted and was put down by Vandergrift.
After the horrendous tragedy, the Marines were called home to defend against another small WAAAGH! By the name of Gazzit. They swiftly returned home and put down the resistance, returning 2 years later with a new batch of fresh recruits and tanks that they bought off the Hive Worlds, apart from the Chimera’s which they made along with hellhounds.
They then served in Cociaminus under the command once again of Vandergrift. They raised now 9 regiments to battle the foe; 1st and 7th Marines Guadalcanal, 1st Marines Cape Gloucester, 11th Marines, 50th Marines, 9th Marines, 5th Marines, 3rd Marines, 17th Marines and 1st Tank Division with fresh supplies. They now numbered around 70,000 troops and 9000 battle and siege tanks. They were all mechanized in Chimera and involved in taking the 3 hive cities, in which they held for 13 years. The casualties were an estimate of 6700 tanks and 29,000 men, with an estimate of another 28,000 wounded or missing. They were relieved of defence on 773.M41. They then went on a planetary rotation of leave to their home planet, once again replenishing their soldiers and tanks. They quickly then were thrust only six months after break, only securing 10,000 more troops and 70 tanks. They were thrown into Khan III, where they fought a heavy tank battle with only limited tanks. They were used as surrounding troops, using their heavy basilisk artillery, now only 9 in number to blow in foxholes to use against the chaos forces and provide shelter. This also killed a few of the Chaos’s numbers. The Marines surrounded the enemy and it is said that Vandergrift at personal head of the army took up an enemy’s heavy bolter lying on the ground and blasted 60 Chaos Marines that were pinning down the Cape Gloucester’s regiment. No chaos marines survived the battle. The losses were acceptable; only 6000 troops were slain or wounded, with only 190 unaccounted for. The tank loss was horrible though, almost three quarters of the tank division were wrecked in the battle. They ended fighting in 775.M41.
The Marines had a 2 year leave this time reclaiming more members and tanks, mainly buying tanks off the neibouring planets and getting 2 regiments of troops that came with the mechanized companies that later guarded the 11th Marines. In the end they replenished the troops and now had 45,000 troops and 7500 tanks. They were then deployed in the Lyubov War under the command of the grizzled man Vandergrift.
The Marines landed in Srady Bay with one of the titans of the Mechanius leading the ground force. All the Marines employed for this tactic and asked the Mechanius if they could deploy from the titan when they reach the sea, having a surprise attack. The Mechanius agreed and made an entrance in each foot so that the veterans mounted up in their vehicles could disembark and the others were going to be dropped by Valkyries onto the surface and from there lead the invasion.
The veterans dropped first with the titan and when it landed in the water in the bay, the massed forces of a dozen Chimera drove from the Titan and hit the lines of the chaos. The titan and the Marines crushed the defenders with ease, disembarking in the holes and killing the last part of the resistance. 23 hours later the first wave of infantry dropped, the Marines dropped off at the end of the bay, driving ashore with three of the 5 regiments. After taking Spradhive with minimal casualties, the Marines were told to stay put in Spradhive as part of the second army, the motorized light assault force led by Colonel Hjak. On the 17th day of fighting, the Imperial Guard broke through into the Hive City and was being massacred by enemy machine gun emplacements. The call to help was answered and the second army moved out. They arrived to Imperial guard bodies spread everywhere and heavy fighting. They pushed forward and found the fighting towards the core of the city, but being slowly cut down by stray bullets, booby traps, small raiding parties, snipers and a whole lot of other things but the Marines were mostly protected by their Chimera, except for 559th and 37th Platoons that fell prey to random explosives.
They took over from the 3rd Army and fought the stiff resistance and took heavy casualties as a massive fire burned out a few vehicles and claimed the lives of many men. The Marines still pushed the defenders and for two weeks after the leader was killed still mopped up the last of the resistances in the Hives. They lost an estimate of 7,500 men and 650 tanks.
The Marines then deployed on 1 more front before being relieved of duty in the campaign; Fortis Binary. Having been there for 2 months, the Marines were bombed and took cover. They then got the siren of advance and with the Boson 94th backing the Marines up and Vandergrift in the lead engaged the foe. The casualty rate was high and they lost over a third of their men to shelling, their tanks and Chimera no use here. It was a waste of potential for the Marines, but they still held on. They engaged the foe with many heroes being born such as the now venerated William H Rupertus who was only just twelve years old. They had the mean and nasty Sgt Puller at the time before an accident that saw him promoted. The Moore Corps who were instrumental at deflecting the enemy who outnumbered the Marines 3 to 1 and Judd Gist, who in taking his own life, detonated sixteen grenades and also set explosives that killed hundreds of the chaos troopers. After the assault, the Marines were taken out of the Sabbat Worlds and were drafted back home.
Vandergrift died on Fortis defending the little Rupertus, who then proceeded to grab out his las-pistol and kill three cultists before being taken away by the Marine’s command squad. William H Rupertus is to this day wearing the old cap of Vandergrift and carries Vandergrift’s sword, bolt pistol and medals. Rupertus is now Governor of Pacifius Prime and Supreme Commander of the Marines, leading them into battle.

Estimated deaths, wounded or missing of the Marines was 1,234,729.


The Jiao Relief Aid:
In 973.M41 the neibouring factory planet of Jiao, about 50 light years away, was besieged by an unknown force but with the help of the Cadian 384th a light year away, the planet was saved. In a call for relief forces to come, the K Marines of Peleliu answered the call and brought with them frozen supplies that they had foraged; Xeno-ants that were three foot tall, Hive Sharks that were 26 meters long and only found in the depths of the ocean, cave squigs, Garbanzos Lizards that were nine meters long and many more of their animals that was edible.
They deployed for Jiao on 974.M41 and arrived in 975.M41. But what they saw didn’t help them one bit. Even from orbit, the flames of Jiao were burning. Grimly, the Marines prepared for the worse.
They landed in the ocean, which was more like nuclear waste, on their Chimera assault vehicles and set off for land. They got on and all they saw was fire, which then the supply ship quickly put out with a full load of water from the ocean and the defenders replaced their Hellhounds flamer with a water cannon and they put the fire out on the main city; Isdn. They found no survivors.
They cleared the other cities, allowing for the supply ships to land. They found the survivors in the Hive City of Haman. The Jiaoan’s were thankful and got all they could. Barely two thousand men and women survived the fires. When asked about who started the fires they said “The Cold Blooded Pale Faced Killers” and nothing more. The remnants of the Cadian 384th all went AWOL or kept to themselves. The soldiers that weren’t AWOL told the Marines that the soldiers were hunting them like predators would hunt the prey. They all said what they told to be the ‘Hunters’ that will be back to kill everyone there.
They then found from one man that they like when things are cheap so that gave the Platoon Officer Agadir Fyfe an idea. Have the supply ship unload here and try and lure the mysterious army into a trap, with the Chimera transports with men packed in them with them sealed. Then have the heavy bolter teams which they took 5 have them deploy on the ship.
To the Marines surprise it worked although the mysterious army was ready for the trap. They dropped Haywire grenades into the waters, wrecking Chimera and killing the Marines. The jet-bikes of the army weren’t ready for was the heavy bolter emplacements on the ship, the people on the jet-bikes dying by the handfuls. The jet-bikes then turned to run, but ran into a barrage of the surviving Marines in the Chimera, who made quick work of them. But then the whole small company of Marines took heavy fire from a new wave of troops. They then saw a big ship for them, surrounded by dozens of jet-bikes. They decided to fight another day, but in order to do so, they needed a distraction. The first and second platoon stayed with the last ten Chimera and as they charged the army, the other platoons got into the ship and they dived for underwater, having a coat of repellent protecting the ship during the travels. They re-surfaced on the Eastern beach head, as they had engaged the enemy on the Southern beach. They got on the shore and told the pilot to find re-enforcements and tell them everything that the Marines had learned about them. Then they got out of the ship onto the horrible looking forest, but the guard was determined to help the defenders. They trekked through the forest, but then men started disappearing. The Marines then were ambushed by both ground forces and jet-bikes and a big open cruise ship. The Marines broke formation because they were being cut down easily by the great cannons of the ship and grenades thrown in their midst.
Each person was followed and here’s where one man stood up to the bar. R.V Burgin was voted commander with a heavy bolter team with only one guy and 3 Marines that were rookies under his command. Over the space of sixty hours to the final battle Burgin led his men over the forest to the resistance, where he only had a pistol he picked up from an Eldar and ordered the rest of his men to pick up rifles. Fighting with alien technology and on unfamiliar turf against an unknown enemy, he fought and killed forty of the aliens and rallied nineteen troops to his command. He made it back to the resistance and told them to grab weapons and follow him.
The resistance and fourteen others he found battling the alien race on the outskirts of the city grabbed ranged weapons and combat weapons of all shapes and sizes; Metal poles, las-guns, the aliens weapons and Burgin armed the specialist weapons people that survived which was nine of the resistance and Marines combined, the aliens grenades and showed them how to arm them. He also gave them the few grenades they had and one guy still had two demolition charges.
He found a suitable environment to be making his last stand; A bridge just outside of the Hive City. It had dense ruins that piled high as to negate the speeders and the giant ship access to kill the flanks or behind them. It also had an acid river that could be of help. Burgin planted charges on both sides of the bridge which was made out of concrete and set up the heavy bolter in a makeshift barricade. Then the surviving man with the vox-caster got a transmission. Help will be there in six hours.
The Marines then gave the order for the demolition guys to hang in the sewer ledges under the bridge, which they can’t be spotted and put the two plasma guns and last flamer there. He also got the surviving las-cannon into cover and got someone else to man it. The troopers went onto the same ledge as the demolition and flamer guys as to back-up the heavy weapons squad when needed. Then Burgin had an idea. He lit a flare and loaded it into a grenade launcher a trooper had, launching the flare into the sky. It was used on Peleliu to signal the rally point and to also be on guard. For the first few hours, troopers rallied to the signal that they had seen. Twelve soldiers all armed with alien technology. The grenades they gave to the demolition guys.
In the second hour, a jet bike trio came out of the forest and was blasted by heavy bolter and las-cannon rounds. Both had spare ammunition.
After another hour, the roaring in the distance became heard. Out of the trees, hundreds of alien warriors and jet bikes burst from the tree line. Heavy bolter and las-cannon rounds smashed into the lines but they kept coming. The warriors climbed up onto the bridge, some being wounded and falling into the lava as a result, but the light infantry clambered out with Burgin at the head. They fell back into cover and began to fire upon the aliens. When they were half way across the demolition charges went off and because of Burgin’s great thinking, collapsed almost three dozen of the cursed aliens into the acid river, burning them. The jet bikes swooped to save them and that’s where their plan failed them. The jet bikes were incinerated by gouts of flame and the few troopers down there.
But then something came into the way of light. The big open cruiser that had massacred them. It hit the heavy weapons teams that were raining ammunition on it and blew them to pieces. It then unloaded the aliens that ran towards them and were cutting many of the guardsmen down. But a demolition expert, Fogs was his nickname, selflessly threw in a demolition charge and blew it up when it was in the acid, creating an explosion that engulfed the eight guardsmen and the ship. The acid corroded its hull and made it weaker and also hit the stabilizers that kept it floating. The ship went down into the acid, where the engines ignited and killed everyone on board.
The last of aliens were cut down swiftly by the Marines and their resistance. But one last raid came half an hour later, but all were jet-bikes. 20 Jet-bikes were racing towards the outpost. The Marines cut them down with las-fire and some of the last demolition experts used their grenades against them by launching them at the incoming hoard of bikes. The men lost all their special weapons, but the grenades made short work of the warriors.
The last resistance they would meet didn’t come from bikes or anything, but from warriors. The aliens ran out of the jungle line and the men lined up and as the warriors leapt over the debris vehicles lit up in the skies. A dozen of Valkyries came onto the platform, blasting apart the warriors with autocannon rounds and a few shots from the troopers in the Valkyries.
The last of the resistance joined the Marines as 19th Platoon or the Jiao Cadian 384th which is still in action to this day. 1935 troopers were reported slain with another 3260 missing and wounded. The estimated population that the newly called Dark Eldar killed was an estimate of almost 9.67 billion people.
The world has been re-built except for the bridge and the forest, keeping them sacred and putting a marbled painting there of what one of the resistance who chose to stay said it looked like. The Marines, Cadian and Jiaoan’s were cheered and praised.
The general of the expedition was slain while they were ambushed in the forest and R.V Burgin has since become the new officer.

The Space Battle over Herodias V:
In 847.M41 the battle over the beautiful jungle world of Herodias V is against the tau as they have proclaimed the planet for ‘the greater good’. Re-enforcements to the be-leagued defenders arrive in the form of the 1st Marines Cape Gloucester, 7th Marines Guadalcanal, Catachan 49th and 84th, Elysian 15th, Penal Legion 945th and the Tallarn 93rd. The reason for so many regiments is because from this planet a staging ground is set with available trading routes to nearly every outpost to the outlying worlds of the Charadon Sector and a few other worlds around that outpost. Plus the guardsmen on the planet are in good supply, not really having to worry about the dangerous flora and fauna, raising fourteen regiments at a time.
Just as the whole fleet came out of hyper-drive including squadron of 6 Cobra Class Destroyers, 3 Dauntless Class Frigates, 900 Valkyries, the Retribution Class-Battleship Demeaning and 2 Dauntless Class Light Cruisers. The Regiments were on the Demeaning and the whole operation was led by the venerated Admiral Hyde Kyiv. He was planning for minimum resistance but found something completely different. He found a whole blockade of Tau ships was waiting for them. It was pretty much an even battle.
But then the Demeaning got crippled and was cut from communications so the Admiral proposed this; sending a counter attack of soldiers to the Tau main battle cruiser that had already destroyed the secondary torpedoes and turn the ship on themselves. The Marines were charged with this. All 900 Valkyries would be launched and have all the regiments in the ships. From there they’ll take the mission. The Catachan would land as would the Tallarn and the Penal Legion, Elysian and Marines would take the fight to the enemy.
The Valkyries launched as well as the 150 star fighters. The star fighters would form a barrier that would protect the Valkyries and all of them have been decked out boarding craft that the soldiers would be in. But some of the Valkyries were duds and had explosives that when boarding, blow up and create an inside explosion, killing the driver but also killing hundreds of others.
The Valkyries launched with the fighters, and the cobras also formed up as well. They were under fire and in 5 minutes 10 fighters had been destroyed, 2 Valkyries and a cobra battleship. The orders were then re-transmitted. Each Valkyrie had one cruiser they were going to board. The 1st Marines and the Penal Legion were together and the 7th Marines and the Elysian would go for the other.
By the time the Valkyries got to their position to strike, the fighters had been reduced to 40 and the cobras had 4 left. The Valkyries had lost 70 of their number but kept going strong. The Marines, Elysian and Penal Legion broke off and struck, break metal hull. They were in the same area, a wingspan separating the vehicles. Explosions wracked and destroyed the first Tau cruiser, and then destroyed its main battery cannons. The Valkyries were taking many casualties, but disembarked. Two squads of troops per walkway the Admiral had ordered.
The bitter fighting on the inside was horrible, the 1st Marines and Penal Legion attacking the enemy with furiosity, breaking the Kroot apart one by one and blasting the Tau troopers apart. The troops made their way to the bridge, taking heavy casualties, fighting for the hallways. The small groups could only fight in two’s or three’s and had minimal cover, only using walls and bedrooms. As the Penal Legion and 1st Marines were fighting hand to hand combat, with some shootings from the heavy bolter, autocannon and lascannon teams they brought with them, the Elysian and Marines took a subtle approach. They ambushed the unwary Tau and used their armour to infiltrate the bridge, pretending to take prisoners. This was a strategy never heard of before. The prisoners broke loose and annihilated the Tau by the snipers in the vents, demolition charges in the door and make use of pistols. The first Cruiser was captured in an hour and a half with the Valkyrie crew taking control of the machines. But the controls were impossible so they retreated and the new Tau drivers came in and worked the controls, the Elysian studying how it worked. Then they came out, slaughtering the drivers again and apart from twelve bodyguards of both Elysian and Marine, the others cleared the vessel, slaying or capturing the last resistances.
The Penal Legion and 1st Marines were trading horrible blows against the Tau that the aliens then gladly returned. At the point of the battle, the Tau commander in his battle-suit was flaming Penal Legion troopers and mowing down dozens of troopers with its Gatling gun. But then Lord Commissar Puller came out into the battle, just having arrived with his small force of Platoon Command squad-men. He shot at the commander in the middle of the battle and blew its brains out before slaying 3 Kroot with his power sword. The disheartened defenders then ran. Not one single Tau made it out alive. They moved onto the bridge and pushed forward, knowing now how to use the damned battleship.
As one the Valkyrie drivers turned the Tau ships onto their own kind and blew the cruisers up before rallying again. After they had done that they embarked in their Valkyries to help the defenders at the space-port, where the last resistance stood. They swiftly slaughtered the fire-warriors.
Over 8,000 Marines were slain during the engagements, including while travelling through space. Another 12,000 were wounded and another 3000 went missing. Colonel Puller and the 2 Marine Divisions served as relief aid on the planet for 2 years, in which Colonel Puller was given a plasma-pistol by the Elysian Drop Troop officer, which he claims to be an old Space Marine Chapter that gave it to the first regiment for their service.
The estimates kill count of all the campaign was:

Battle for Hive World Kiev:

The Marines had been summoned to fight in 799.M41 on the Hive World of Kiev, once a flourishing agricultural ground now a cold wasteland riddled with toppled ancient machines and deadly misty woods. The planet had become under siege by Heretics lead by a broken Ultramarine Captain; Luscious Xavier. The inhabitants were all but wiped out so the Departmento Munitorium had assigned Cadian 732nd, Mordian 934th, Vallahan 83rd, Hyrkan 92nd and the 5th Marines of Guadalcanal in where the legend is born. Red Company.
The plan was simple to the generals; there was five heads where they would land. The Eastern Front is where the Hyrkan regiment will bolster the remaining resistance there and protect the vulnerable flank of the plan. The Cadian and Mordian regiments would hold the Western Front while the Northern Front will be held by the Vallahan Regiments. The Marines will then charge into Bealleu Woods to distract the Heretics and soak up the ammunition while the Mordian and Cadian regiments combined would be enough to break the deadlock there as the Hyrkan would help smash through the Eastern Front. Then the Eastern Front would be finished and they finally march to Reims, the capital of the Heretics.
When they came out of the warp, they were under constant heavy firing and within half an hour lost the whole Hyrkan regiment and a small contingent of Mordian. They also lost the cruiser Fused and the Redeemer Jhelum. But despite this the commander of the fleet and co-incidentally an ex-Mordian Valkyrie pilot Gust the Old, named after his many years of naval battles tells the Marines to land and to find the rendezvous point in the middle of Bealleu Woods where the enemy was thickest. But before that he sent them into battle he told them that none of them were to be alive, but to never break rank and then because of the armoury on the ship had been obliterated by enemy fire, they took up naval gear; Tin hats and re-breathers for space and the uniforms that they found to have a bayonet and cumbersome las-rifle. They got into their Valkyries and only 20 Valkyries made it out alive. The transport killed half the regiment when it was destroyed by the Orbital Defence systems.
They landed with minimal casualties 50km east of their grounds, got out of the planes and re-grouped. They set-up a small base of operations and found that the Eastern Front where the Hyrkan’s were meant to land and bolster the remaining resistance was absolutely crushed by a well devised plan of luring them into the trap of exposing one of their flanks and then crushing the remaining soldiers. 4 of the enemy Army Divisions were now freed and they moved to the Western Front that was still in a deadlock. The Northern flank was broken by being over-run. The Vallahan regiment retreated to the landing zone of the Marines, still waiting for the signal. When they saw the last of the northern flankers they decided that there was no signal. The Western Front was going to be broken if those army groups of the enemy went into the flank they were advancing and so with one final decision they charged into the worst forest of Kiev. They turned around to the Eastern Flank and used the old Marine tactics, bringing up the last Chimeras and Hellhounds, blowing them up in the middle of the ground to create fox-holes. They then advanced into the holes and waited for the Heretics to come to them. At dawn the next morning, over 19,000 soldiers of the Heretics advanced onto the Western Front via the short route of Bealleu. When they were within range the Marines and Vallahan opened fire and the enemy took heavy casualties. They retreated into the woods. Then the Heretics were forced to dig in and it stayed that way for fourteen days. Then Captain Hue Gaud of the Red Company said that they should charge the enemy when the enemy is getting ready for a charge. Already taken a third of their force as either dead or wounded, they charged at midnight. The whistle blew and accidently taking it for their own, the waiting Heretics got out of their trenches and charged, expecting a dug-in enemy, the same with the Marines. What they found instead was each other. The Marines had already made a plan of action. The Marines take the brunt and let the Vallahan regiment pass through, allowing their allies to be unscathed. 5000 Heretics against 1400 Marines and Vallahan guardsmen engaged on the yew creek. In the two and a half hours that passed, the Vallahan got passed with only two men as casualties. The Marine kept on fighting though. The fighting had become too close and so used their rifles as spears, the las-pistol becoming popular during the battle. It was said that the ground was just blood and nothing else. In the duration of the battle almost 850 Marines died with another 200 wounded. The Heretics lost about 3800 soldiers during the battle but broken when Corporal Dug bashed the leading Chaos Space Marine to a pulp with his las-cannon after the warrior charged and slayed his partner Cpl Hyde. The remaining Marines, now only 130 strong, charged the entrenched enemy with almost half the remaining men dying charging the trenches. They are then etched into this world’s history as with only 25 strong they managed to take the main trench running along the woods and killing almost 9000 Heretics by themselves.
They then met up with the Vallahan and with their combined might of 129 men proceeded to hold the vast trench, setting booby traps on the places they couldn’t hold. They held for 130 days against many encounters, finding better equipment than their lack of body-armour and tin hats.

They were relieved of duty on 800.M41 with only 32 soldiers left there. The Heretics had been defeated by the combined might of the Cadian and Mordian with 3 re-enforced battalions of Cadian, Penal and Death Korps companies.

The casualties of the campaign:
-Marines: 11,371 men killed and 18,374 wounded.
-Mordian and Cadian: 293,874 men killed or wounded.
-Vallahan: 11,347 killed or wounded
-Hyrkan: 93,892 killed.
-Heretics: 93,847029 confirmed kills.

The III War for Armageddon:

The Marines got the call-to-arms, as the Departmento Munitorium asked for 15 Regiments. The Marines, just coming out of their campaign on their world, recruited all the men they could. They had just enough for 6 regiments including the 11th Marines and 1st tank division. They left 200 Marines and 4 Basilisks there along with Chimera to re-gain control of the planet and crush the last patches of resistance. But they scraped just enough to go to war, but they said to scrape up another 9 regiments or the Marines planet will be taken over by the Munitorium. So the Marines went to Jiao, who then gave them 6 regiments and went to the Pintax who provided 2 Tank Divisions and finally to the neibouring system of Herodias who provided a regiment of jungle fighters.
The Allied as they now called themselves entered into the island of Phoenix. 9000 Customized Chimera trundled onto shore and met fierce resistance, 6 Companies deploying on the barren island. The rest of the army charged into the Fire Wastes. They stumbled onto land to see 45 Regiments already there, including 2 Catachan and 1 Death Korps regiments. The Marines joined the forces, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Squadrons of the Tank Division destroying the orks. There was no shelter so once again the Marines had a sneak tactic; Create foxholes. Rupertus, who was in charge of the Marines operations, consulted the other regiments to pull back as the casualties were unbearable as the Orks had dug in their Rok and other small places they had built and were using machine guns and other weapons to slaughter the guardsmen. With permission, the 11th Marines, Death Korps and the other heavy artillery including the rare Medusa and Death-strike Missile Launchers, the surviving guardsmen forming up regiments to protect the siege weapons. The shelling blew a whole straight through the last patches of resistance and got the regiments of men to mop up any surviving Orks.
Then they pushed onto the Rok fortress. Using their siege weapons again, they assaulted the fortress and won the day for the guardsman after 90 hours of shelling and fighting in the fortress, they wiped the Orks out and destroyed the Rok. The casualty count by the end of the conflict for each race including tanks:
The Marines on the beaches of Phoenix Island they pulled up onto the island in their Chimera, breaking the Ork defenders lines with heavy casualties. They pushed forward to the lines of the Black Dragon Space Marines in which they rushed the enemy of orks, being successful and capturing the broken bridge.
During the rush onto the lines of the orks of the Fire Wastes, Sgt John Basilone was slain by a machine gun, leading the Iwo Jima 2nd Battalion to the fox holes. William H Rupertus lead the attack personally after both regiments were ready and proceeded to lead an amphibious attack into the Equatorial Jungle. The full invasion force launched and landed, encountering heavy resistance that they duly burned out and pushed forwards into the heart, mounting in their Chimera and customized Hellhounds. They met up with the Catachan 18th, 40th and 103rd and pushed on and for 90 days they pushed forwards, clearing the forests. They formed then 1 bond, where they all fought together as one, killing and slaughtering Orks but weren’t successful, the Orks launching into Cerbera. From there they were told to push forwards and try and clear the Underwater Pipelines. They held against the underwater commando Orks with minimal casualties, using 4 platoons of Marines and Catachan to hold it.
Then they were told to deploy alongside Steel Legion 38th, and 348th, Cadian 372nd and 943rd, Tallarn 18th, Mordian 82nd, 16th, 34th, Vostroyan 26th and 79th and Penal Legion 75th and 834th Infantry Regiments along with the Cadian 43rd, 78th and 834th Tank Regiments, Death Korps 98th and Steel Legion 39th Artillery to deploy alongside the Salamander and Black Templars Space Marines, Hive Infernus Militia and 942nd Steel Legion, under the command of Commissar Yarrick against the massed Ork Invasion. Lead by the Ork leader Ghazghkull Thraka himself, the Ork invasion of about 9,000,000 rushed into the city, accompanied by Stompas, battle wagons, kill-cannons, Deff-dreads and Squiggoths. They charged the city and while the horrible battle happened in the Hive City, 7th Marines and a heavily depleted 18th Catachan regiment attached to them cleared the sewers and the slums. They all found heavy resistance with Ork Commandos, being caught in traps, suicide bombings and ambushes in the cross-sections of the sewers. Again the combined arms wasn’t successful but pursued the last few hundred commandos and in the final stand the Marines and Catachan along with the remains of the 28th Steel Legion, charged the Commandos before they could do more harm to the Hive City, and slaughtered them. Then all the Marines were focused upon the frontlines, where Colonel Puller, accidently becoming a commissar, fought back to back with ‘fellow commissar’ Lord Commissar Yarrick. During the height of the battle, Puller stopped an assassination attempt on the Lord Commissar by putting himself in the way of the blow and then de-capitated the Ork and stood up, fighting with a horrible stomach wound that is fatal the Lord Commissar joined the Lord Commissar with pushing Ghazghkull’s orks back to the mountains and watched the General of the Ork Invasion flee. After that, The Steel Legion and Catachan, now heavily depleted were attached to the Marines, as they remain to this day.
The estimated casualty rate of the Marines of the campaign was 3,263,170 soldiers were killed, wounded or missing with all but 5 regiments making it out alive, the 1st Marines Cape Gloucester, 5th Marines Okinawa, K Marines and 7th Marines. They are the most remembered there than any other conflict.

No I did not like it particularly at all. I suggest you do some reading on Warhammer 40k lore/background. And Gatlings do not exists in 40k.

Not did I like your description of the naval combat, you don't shoot down Tau star ships with Valkyries, nor do I like that you include existing characters from the IG codex in your fluff to such a degree.

Minor bit, but gatlings do exist in 40K. The Leman Russ Executioner is a good example of such.
Anywhos, perhaps you could try to refrain using named characters in such a liberal way in your writing.
