Back after I finished playing Dawn Of War 2 and Chaos Rising, I was inspired to write some background for a Space Marine Chapter. The result was the Knights of Vengeance, a Chapter whose gene seed may or may not be a cross between Imperial Fist and Dark Angels gene seed.

Before I started putting together and painting these guys, I thought that they should be similar to medieval knights (bearing your own herldry), but thought that was too much like the Grey Knights, so each squad bears the sergeanmnt's heraldry.

I wanted these guys to have varying amounts of battle damage, mud and blood on them to make it look like they're either in the middle of a battle or have been on campaign and haven't had a chance to clean/repair their armor. This didn't extend to the storm talon because I didn't really see a still functioning aircraft as suffering much damage because ground units would have trouble shooting it and something that did hit it would probably take it down.

Here are the three units I have so far.

Found the picture of the first unit that I had finished for the Knights of Vengeance. This was before the Tyranid blood (killed Carnifex at point blank range).

tactical squad for my Knights of Vengeance. Using a couple of GW's texture paints (Mud and the Lustria texture to represent dried Tyranid blood). Armor is mark 6 power armor (should pads were shaved at the edges and the left shoulder pad had pins inserted).

For the Librarian, thinking about using the Chaos Lord/Sorcerer as a base and just shaving off the chaos symbols to get a sinister look. Like he's had to use his powers EXTENSIVELY.

The company catain will be done using one of Calgar's honor guard as a base.

A KoV drop pod and plastic nurgling bases that I did up. Acttually did one of the bases wrong according to the instructions then thought "what the heck, it's a swarm."
