Hey, i had the idea to create a DKOK army, but to have representing models from the IG codex, so that i could field a force and use the standard codex.
I have now nearly finished modeling and painting up some of them, thought i would post them up to see what you guys think.
(I am not much of a painter) lol

I am still working on, Creed, Chenkov, Al'Rahem, Bastonne and Mogul Kamir

I am also considering Pask and Nork Deddog.

feedback will be great possitive and negative both welcome.

Are the bases finished?

I like the muddy, worn look you have going on. But if the bases are finished it doesn't match the ashy looking ground.

And I think the plasma coil would look better if it was painted a bright color, but he might not be finished either.

I love DKOK and your take on the IG characters is great.

Marbo is probably the best looking one, and that's not a slight to the others, Marbo just looks fantastic. I really like the crouched pose you have and all that. Kell looks like the fist is too big. I'd think an IG sized powerfist would be a better fit. It may still be too big due to the thinner proportions of the FW models, but would certainly be better than the SM fist you have on there now. I hate to say it, but Straken just doesn't read Hero to me. I don't know what you could do to fix it, the standard fix for a model that's not heroic enough is usually to pop a bare head on, which is obviously out of the question. Maybe using one of the Grenadier models would look better, even though you're putting him in a non Grenadier squad. The extra armor and skull face should make him stand out a little better. And I love that Harker is carrying extra ammo, but one handing the stubber looks a bit odd. I think an easy fix to this would just be to add a Green Stuff sling to the weapon to make it look like he's spreading the weight without having to completely tear the model apart and reposing it.

I think Pask could just be the DKOK tanker Commissar, and the HQ is pretty much already Creed. Either way, keep up the great work. I can't wait to see more.

Thanks for the input, nothings is finished, I just put them on some old bases I had, I am working on the base style at the moment I will post the first 3 attempts below, I think I will add a watered down light blue or orange for the plasma pistol. I thought about strakens body carefully, straken does not have any extra armour, so a grenadier is kind of out of the question, although my bastonne ( which I will post soon) has the grenadier armour but with a filed down mask so with no skull teeth, but I am planning a watered down dull painted on the mask. You were right about the power fist, i have relaced it with the fist from the catachan captian (the metal one)

Anyway here are my base concepts, I am going for a muddy no mans land in winter. Let me know what you think.[img]

Looks nice, i like the bases. Are those 20mm or 40? I think parts of the models could use a high light, just to make it stand out more, but the color scheme is working.

I do plan on highlighting but, i want to get my command squad painted up so i can highlight in one go.

they were 40 mm, just testers to see how it would look, I have narrowed down my muddy look to the two below.

I think the bases in the third post look the best (however it might have something to do with picture quality compared to the last 3).

Love the colors ! LOVE DKOK lol. Cool Marbo and Gunny. Like the shotgun, but I think it should be on his back. Fist is a little big imo. Other then that love it. Ill post mine if you dont mind.

That Kell miniature looks brilliant - his banner is amazing. I can't wait to see a DKoK Nork.

Thanks, and Nork is on the way, I am attaching him below, along with sgt. bastonne (nork is an ogre body and bastonne is the enforcer from games day< i got the idea from youtube> i think it was black templar, look up his channel he is great! I admitt i did more or less copy it, but i just loved the conversion.

i am coming close to decideing on the mud culour, i have worked out the texture i want, the wet effect needed,
just wanted you guys to help with the actual mud colour.
