They look a lot less goofy with a proper Nurgle palette like this.

Thanks. I agree that the GW ones are a bit vibrant for the god of decay.

The really obvious neck joint lets them down a little, but I like the colour scheme. Could maybe do with a little more contrast on the pustules, but that might just be my monitor, as it's a bit dark.

What do you suggest for the neck joint? It's not just your monitor, my ipad camera didn't pick it up very well. The pustules were drybrushed with Iyaden Darksun and Bleached bone.

The are sort of chubby and playful but at the same time sinister and rotten, but that is off topic.

To be honest the model isn't that great imho. However the painting is. I like the colors, just not the model (especially the back side).

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers. |

I would be pushing a small strip of green stuff in there to fill it in so you get a smooth transition from back of skull to neck. A crease or wrinkle or two would be fine, but the big obvious joint just looks off.

Really nice paint scheme but I think it could do with a bit more depth, but that could just be the photo.
I agree with others on the head- that gap needs filling! Wouldn't be too bad if Citadel could be consistent with their sculpts!

I agree with above posts, this is not my favorite model. That being said your paint job is very good! You need to green stuff the neck joint and maybe pop out the pustules. I think a different color from the rest of the model would be good, maybe a magenta?

Paint job IS nice.
As for the models: meh....
As long as we had to wait for plastic plague bearers I was hoping for something a little more exciting...

I find most Daemon models suffer from bad joints. Bloodletters especially.
Besides that it's a really nice job. I like the GW ones, I find the new Plaguebearers quirky. This is a great scheme though.

It seems to be a rather nasty way to force you to choose between silly looking joints or buying more greenstuff. The wiry daemons seem to have this problem.

Thanks for the feedback guys, i would do something about the neck joint but i don't think that the amount i notice it warrants the time and money it would use to fix it. Also i think the colour scheme will be the one i use on all the models but as Battlematt suggested i may try to see if purple pustules works.
@CuddlySquig, anyone who cuddles a nurgling may find them squiggy but also oozing puss and that person may not be alive the next day to cuddle their new friend, i think there should be a health and safety warning on the nurglings:
⚠ Do not attempt to embrace nurglings

Rotting Sorcerer of Nurgle

I spent some off this evening greenstuffing the neck joints - never had to do this with any other plastic GW mini.
The arm joints can be a bit dodgy as well. Might GS these tomorrow.
I was very diapointed with these joints - if they had been better I would rank them some of GW's best work (because I love me some Nurgle) but I would give them 6/10 max.
As for your painting - try using thin red ink around each pustule and making the heads a bit brighter, using bleached bone mixed with yellow (or whatever the colour is called these days).
The skin can be given more depth with the new green/brown ink called Athonian Camoshade (I know this one as I bought a pot).
I like the rust effect and overall it's a good first try as a colour test scheme.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!! |

I would love a quick tutorial for this color scheme if you wouldn't mind sharing trade secrets, He looks great,.
I have a box of the new Nurglings I am planning to use as WoC Chaos spawn, definitely a better box then some of the previous efforts on these minis. Would love to adopt this onto them, GW's Nurgling green really is a useless color.

Thanks so much!
I will have to pick up a few colors from my hobby shop but I will be sure to post results once I get some nurglings finished up.

Liquid greenstuff is actually good at this kind of filling. Although you shouldn't have to do it really. Its like buy a new box of figs and also buy liquid greenstuff to fix them.
