Hi dakkanaughts,

I want to do another, smaller space marine army to compliment my raptors army (Sea Green) but i cant decide which chapter to do. After a lot of looking around i think i've decided on the emporer's spears but im still unsure. I really like the light blue with white helmets but hate the chapter symbol. I've also considered Sons of Orar (red with white trim) and the Storm Lords (red and white halved with yellow helmets). Any way just wanted people's opinions on this and what you guys think which chapter would look best alongside a Sea green army, check my gallery if you want to see my guys.

I like the scheme that you've shown, some questions;
1) How close is the colour scheme to the actual paint?
2) What is it you don't like about the symbol?

Cheers, well using the online painter i used the given GW paint colours, so im hoping pretty close. I used ice blue, skull white and red gore but pretty sure those are the older paints though. The Emporer's Spears chapter symbol is a black trident, it just reminds me of ancient greek mythology and i don't think it ties in with Space Marines and 40k as a whole, i just dont like it.

I would go with either the Sons of Orar or the Storm Lords, both have red as part of their color scheme, which is a complementary color to green. Plus I don't like that color scheme for the Emperor's Spears, looks more Eldar then SM colors, IMO

I do like the sons of orar but they have a very christmasy look with the green raptors which im not sure on, any way this would be my sons of orar scheme:

Light blue is an awesome color if you want to make them look all scratch up, and battleworn.

The reason for the christmas-y look is becausat the two colors go so well together that they've been appropriated for the holiday at one point or another (probably along the conveniently appearing evergreen berries lines).

You could always just roll with it and say hohoho! when your dudes smite something.

Seriously, though. If you don't like the red/green, you can always go for a little more garish, like...crap I forgot the names of them, the colors the Flesh Tearers sport. They stand out enough from the sea-green without the holiday feel.

if you don't like the symbol, you can always try your own, like something more like a pilum for the roman look,

Flesh tearers are red (mephiston or khorne, I don't have either so I can't say which) and black. If you like the spear's colours then just go with those and a different chapter symbol - they are your minis after all.

I think i'm gunna go with the Emperor's Spears, i've warmed to the colour scheme and think it will look good along side my raptors. I really wanted a genuine chapter that is within the 40k universe so i want to sticj with the trident symbol, and i like the colours of the spears, there is also very little info about them of which i can find, i did read some where that they adapt their stuff to suit water planets but im not sure it was a reliable source. So as i'm going with these guys does anyone know where i can get my hands on some tridents. Cheers for the help fellas
