Hi Dakka. Need some help on making this list better against Grey Knights. Vulkan goes with Sternguard in Drop pod, Libby goes with Tac squad in LR Crusader, and the rest shoot, and capture objectives. Thanks!

If you know he's taking draigo wing why no vindicators and assault terminators? Why put a tac squad in a landraider? Why the rifleman dread? Why the weird weapon loadout on the tac squads?

Also the libby is illegal and miss pointed. You can't mix and match rulebook powers and codex powers and if you take rulebook powers you have to roll for them not just take what you want. He's also 115 points with a combiweapon.

I'm not convinced that at 1500 you want Vulcan and another Hq. Too many points. Also grey knights suck against fliers so you could use that to your advantage.

Well, first off, I don't have any VIndicators. Second off, Assault Termies have done me jack ever since I started playing them in a tourney. I will probably switch out the Tac weapons, what do you suggest?

I also plan to have the Sternguard combat squad and take care of the Strike squad of five men, and the Dreadknight. Then I plan on pouring mass amounts of firepower into the Paladin blob.

I'd get some vindicators they practically autowin you the game against draigowing.

What is Vulcan good at? Twin-linking melt weapons and master crafting thunderhammers. What type of weapons do most damage to paladins? S8+ and ap2 or better... See where i'm with this yet?

A squad of assault terminators will do more for you than the libby or the landraider. Particularly in this match up.

Best load out for tac squads in a vulkan list is melt, combi-melta and multimelta. This is also the best loadout against paladins.... I would advise some rhinos for mobility to. You don't want to waste all those shots on draigo at the front of the unit.

Basically, you are:

wasting points on 2 expensive HQs in a 1500 pts game.

not using those HQs to their full potential (Vulcan, too few melta, flamers)

For example, if you plan on dropping the Sternguard to suicide on his GK squads, then take Plasma and not melta. You'd kill more of them.

Plasma pistols on Sergeants - bad idea.

Tactical squad weapons are all over the place (long range Plasma Cannon, short range melta)

For me, the Libby is vital, so I can have him reroll his Invul saves on his Paladins. Plasma guns always seem to do me bad, and I do want to be wounding on 2+ with Melta, and instant deathing some Paladins. I will take the Pistols off the Sergeants, but what would you suggest for the Tac squad weapon loadout?

If you are doing suicide pods, I suggest more of them. I don't ever like relying upon one...redundancy is your friend in such a situation. This also allows you to split up the fire power if needed (like if he throws you a curve ball list)

a librarian versus gk is kinda suicide man, it'd be better to grab a chaplain in termie armor with terms armed with t hammers and s shields. If you use Vulkan and you dont use meltas flamers and t hammers, you are wasting points man. Match your army to what it can do well; in the case of Vulkan, heavy on the flamer melta, back it up with t hammers, in the case of Kantor, lotta vet squads, etc etc... my buddy runs Vulkan with a land raider redeemer, 3 6 man tacs with melta and multimelta, 2 devs with meltax3 and lacannnon, and a vindicator. it is VERY effective.

Laziness is no excuse.

Break his paladins and you win

He will hope to deepstrike too close for vindicators to work

10 combimelta is outstanding, if you get that round of shooting into his paladins you win

Stern need to be central and mobile. I would argue LR is worth it here to ensure they still have mobility when you need it and all 10 combis fire. I would take phobos in case he brings a storm raven.

Lose scouts

Take libby, his primary power will be null zone. You could give him gate so after paladins destroyed you can move a unit to obj or table quarter

I would also think about some terminators for their fists and 2+

Should be ok knowing what he bringing

Thank you for the advice. I'm currently working on a few lists against Draigowing and Grey Knights in general. I like Vulkan in the list, as he gives Meltas and Flamers Twin Linked, and TH Master Crafted. Maybe some Assault Termies? He will be taking Draigo, and will probably put all wounds on him.

You know what I like hunting Pallidins with? It is Vindicators or Plasma cannon dev squads.

If you are just trying to go straight for the kill anyways. Does he walk them of t-port them?

Ok so keep vulkan and libby. Libby needed for nullzone, so good v invuls.

If you want TH terminators then put them in a raider.

Risk now is your sternguard only get rhinos and so cannot get to where they needed when GK arrive. Maybe take two squads of 5 in razors so as have some redundancy at least.

I think you can lose melta bombs, dread, drop pod and scouts from this list. Thats 280 points for 5 TH terminators and two vanilla razors.

I do have a Vindicator, balsak_da_mighty, and he mostly teleports them. I know what he is bringing, so I'm coming up with a different list to combat his Draigowing.

If he DS them then that should be able to kill most of them in one fell swoop, provided you can keep it alive long enough. 2 would be key for this.
