Background

Before the Sisters of Battle, there were the Frateris Templar. An Elite military order for the Ecclesiarchy, They maintained order on behalf of the Ecclesiarchy and many orders were as numerous in sizes and power as an Imperial Guard Regiment. This force was broken down into Orders and they were used as a private army, and occasionally to crush revolts against the Ecclesiarchy.

One such Order was founded on the planet of Posul, a night world that is well suited for space marine recruitment (given the night fighting and recovering Feral status of the planet). The people of Posul were once abandoned by the Imperium, and quickly fell into a feral planet status, where large death cults started tribal wars across the planet. The people of Posul believe that they become more powerful by eating the remains of their fallen enemies and that when they fall they will dine with the Ultimate Warrior. When the planet was rediscovered by The Ultramarines, their Primarch told them of the Holy Emperor and exalted him as the Ultimate warrior they worshiped. He founded the Successor Chapter, The Mortifactors, and The Frateris Templar Order of the Emperor's Fist was founded on the planet, to keep their people from regressing once more.

They men of Posul are fit and capable of hunting at an early age. Those whom are not selected for The Mortifactors chapter are oft picked up by the Order as a means to show commitment to their planets safety and civility. When a man known as Sebastian Thor led the Confederation of Light and revolted against the Ecclesiarchy, and their expanding tyranny, they called upon the Frateris Templar, including Posul's Order of The Emperor's Fist, but due to means and funding, were unable to defend the Ecclesiarchy. Most of the Templar's fleet was destroyed in a warpstorm called the storm of the Emperor's Wrath and the remaining orders were disbanded due to The Decree Passive, not allowing the Ecclesiarchy to maintain Men under Arms.

It seemed that the Emperor's fist was to be broken, but they maintained their numbers, as they had to ensure the Ecclesiarchy order was managed on their home planet. Funds were short, but donations to the illegal organization are made regularly from Inquisitors, in exchange for their services in eradicating the Witch, as well as the Mortifactors, giving them munitions and vehicles that can be spared for the renegade Order.

This reformed order is now known as The Order of The Shattered Fist.

Uniformity

The order's power armor is black, helping them in stealth. the cloth is bleached white. They are expected to allow their hair and facial hair to grow out, and are forced to shave as a form of punishment, so their brethren in arms will know they had failed to maintain the strict rules of the Ecclesiarchy, the lack of sunlight in their world gives them a very pale complexion, even sickly looking at times. They regularly use rope as part of their cultural heritage and bind their fists, bolters and jump packs to show the relentless nature of their commitment to their people and purpose. Sargents bear crossed ropes over their shoulders as to show that they hold their unit together. Many young men feel obliged to work their bodies to their maximum, and as they grow older they relax the stringent work out routines in lieu of spiritual growth. The order's symbol is a fist bound in rope, behind a shining Iron Halo.

Brother Chaplin Nickola Celestine
Chaplin for the Ultramarine's initially, Recruiter for the Mortifactor's later, The elder chaplain became one of the very few marines to abandon the Ultramarines and joined the Mortifactors. He prophesised the order would not be reprimanded for failing to join the other Templar order's in defending the ecclesiarchy. He fell in the third war for Armageddon, but has Miraculously re-materialized to help lead the People of Posul, whom had adopted him as a symbol of the everlasting discipline of their faith.

Welcome to the Order of the Shattered Fist Progress Blog, I'm making a converted SoB army by kit-bashing Chaos Mauraders, Empire Flagelants and Space Marine Bits. By the end of this blog, I will have a 2000 point army ready, assembled and modeled, with it's own custom theme and style.

I've made more then enough bases for all my men, started gluing the legs down first. Completed a few models just to see if they all mesh together nicely. I have a digital camera now, and will be posting pics of the unit's when available.

First official Update!

Getting some leader ship in here, starting with Brother Chaplin Nickola Celestine:





I'm going to get a very nicely based base for him when I can find one of my terminator sized bases for him (the same as Celestine's in the SoB army, I believe), he will be posed leaning forward, as though flying into a heavy swing. His jump pack is going to be primed and painted seperately, so it's not attached yet.

And a Brother Superior, With custom Combi-Flamer:



Once I get done building all of my core Brother's of Battle, I'll prime them up. I used the PVA / Super glue trick to make the ground look like it's being infected by some demonic/ tyrandic force.

The combi-flamer was made by cutting up an extra AoBR flamer marine weapon and cutting out the grip of the bolter, putting the flamer tank in it's place and gluing the nozzle of the flamer to it. I also had to move the barrel of the bolter up a smidge.
