Have a look at my Ultramarines!
Critique, commentary, and criticism is welcome and requested, let me know what you think and how I can improve.

My collection contains a devastator squad, an assaust Squad, and a tactical squad.
You can see the tactical squad in the group picture, I didn't take a close shot of them because they're not so great - they're the first miniatures I ever did.
But I don't want to re-paint or get rid of them - they're the first miniatures I ever did

I paint just for the sake of painting, I don't play the warhammer tabletop game (although I grow more and more interested in it) and I don't paint just to get an army to an acceptable quality. I want the best quality possible, and I'm always looking to do a little better.

They are looking pretty sweet. Keep up the nice work.

The only thing I would say is to add a little something to the bases. They need a little pizzazz (sorry I just wanted to use the word pizzazz for some reason).

PS - I must say that dudes face is looking pretty awesome. The skin looks nice.

Jesus the heavy weapons are practically blinding! How does the marine even aim that thing with the glow its emitting? The marines look brilliant, the colors are great, but the OSL weapons are just a little too strong for me.

This is partially caused by a glow on the camera when I was taking the picture, the actual model looks a little bit darker and a bit less intense. But yes, the effect is perhaps a bit too brilliant.

In fact, when taking the picture, I encouraged that lighting effect because I think its kind of cool.
I could have moved the light so that it didn't have so much of that, also the black background only intensifies it.

I have to echo the OSL is way too much. People are tending to go way ott with OSL lately, a little bit goes a long way with OSL.

Otherwise these look absolutely fantastic!

If it makes you feel any better, here's the guy with the Multi-Melta from the back.
OSL is a good bit more subtle on the backpack.
All those tubes - they're probably supposed to be metal, but I thought it would be cooler to have them glow.
You can't see the ones on the top so well in this shot.

But yeah, thanks for the advice on OSL.
I'm thinking about doing some Terminators pretty soon and I'll be using OSL on them too - a bit more subtle this time.

I am going to have to disagree on the OSL, for the plasma cannon at least. That is the kind of blinding flash that I can imagine launching a giant ball of plasma, and having a chance of melting the user as well.

Not as sure on the Lascannon, just looks a bit off imo.

The highlight to me is the assault marines, especially the Stormshield and the Powerfist guys. Great posing, and the power sword is awesome.

OSL aside, these are well painted. You should play 40K! I'm an ultramarine player myself, good to see smurfs represented. Now get them on a table and go kill some heretics!

Love them. Love the OSL. I don't care if it's OTT. This whole game is OTT. Don't listen to these realism elitists. Part of the reason I like it is BECAUSE it's OTT.

Yeah I agree. I don't care if it's over the top, I love the OSL.

I actually like the OSL, as well.
