Hello Dakka. I've been a member for a while, posting here and there when I feel of use, but I decided I needed a little motivation to speed up my painting. One note before the pics, the details which would usually be green are only based with Orkhide Shade as of now, since I accidentally left my lighter greens at home before I left for college . Anyway, here are some (iPhone) pics of a Blood Raven I painted last night.

I've got finishing touches to make on a dreadnought that will hopefully be complete by next weekend and I'm working on the rest of the tactical squad.

Sigh, so big and yet so lonely on the internet. Too maybe add a little spice, here's pics of my almost complete Dreadnought and my slightly converted Pedro Kantor.

Here's another tactical marine as well as a sternguard. The tac is not quite finished, as you'll see by the strange gallows shape on his shoulder pad. Story there is I was starting to try to freehand the Blood Ravens chapter symbol, but it got a little messed up. Previous attempts have become a bit of a joke between my brother and I, resulting in my marines being nicknamed the Blood Pigeons. Anyway on to the pictures. Comments and criticism encouraged.

Well, I had an assault marine to show y'all, but a friend picked him up by the shield and the marine lost his hand. But I'm too lazy to fix it tonight, so I'll just show y'all tomorrow.

Okay I lied, when I have less work to do I'll get the guy fixed. In the meantime, any C&C for what I've already got up?

I'm just about to log off, SA, but I'll dig out a couple of links on taking pictures and editing them when I get in this evening - the focus is off on a fair few, so detail is hard to make out.

I will say that I'm not convinced by Pedro's banner - there seems to be some additional lean there that makes it look like it is about to fall out. I'd also consider drilling out the end of the multi-melta on the Dread, or neatly painting the middle of the barrels black, as it looks a little odd all silver.

I'll comment more on the marines when we have some better pictures, OK?

Thank you, I knew something was off on the banner, but I needed someone to tell me. As for links to editing pictures, those would be much appreciated. As it is, all I have is an iPhone for pics. And yes, I did paint the middle of the barrels black on the dreadnought since I last took a picture. Thanks again.

Yes, I noticed the gravity defying banner too. Otherwise, a good start. I would suggest to get sharper angles on the tactical arrow, once you've painted the black arrow, perhaps slightly larger than you want the finished arrow, re-paint the light-coloured base colour over the edge. It's easier than trying to paint a point with a brush in one go.

OK, here is a link t the image-editing video I was talking about in my previous post - it is at the end of the post I've linked to.

If you've only got an iPhone, I'm not sure that most photo tutorials will be much use - the main issue is making sure the phone's camera will focus on the model, which you'd normally use a Macro mode for on a digital camera - does the iPhone have that option?

Either way, I'd recommend setting up a monotone background for when you're taking your pictures - I use some white A4 printer paper, for instance. If nothing else, it will reduce the number of things your camera will try to focus on instead of the model you wan it to focus on.

Use light sources other than the camera flash for lighting, and make sure the camera isn't going to shake when you take the picture, though I appreciate that'll be difficult with a phone camera.

Thanks for the tips. The lighting of the first few pictures was with a lamp, so I'll try messing with the light to get a better picture.
