For the loincloth on my ork boy. Can anyone help me improve this picture? I dont think it looks bad but it could be better.

I usually do a base coat of brown when I do whit cloth. Leave the brown in the crevices. Usually a lighter brown. It all depends on the look your going for. You could also go with a base coat of white and hit it white some Devlan mud if you have any and then bring the upper folds back up to full white.

Myabe doing a grey base and then a layer of mixed of the base grey and white and then thin white layers to highlight? Or just try thin washes into the recesses and touch up with the white?
Any white colours are always hard to paint with so thin layers are key.

Depending on how 'grotty' you want it to look, there's a few ways to go.

For a clean look, I'd start with a very light gray, give it a black wash, then build up from grays to whites in highlighting.

Since this is an Ork, though, I'd imagine that his loincloth has not been well cared for. Thus, I'd start with something like Deneb Stone or equivalent, give a sepia wash, and build up first to Bleached Bone, then to White, using more white than you would if you were highlighting normally. That should give a good look of "This was white... once", especially if you leave some mottled areas of sepia wash showing.

As an example of the kind of result the latter technique gives:

For really clean white cloth I use p3 greatcoat grey for the shadows and then use astromonican grey from the old few line for the mistimes followed by a pure white from any paint line.

A general painting tip that applies doubly so to white, is to keep your paints watered down. Someone once told me to go for the consistency of milk and that seems to work for me.

I've had the same problem with my SoD Biker Captain, I tried everything, in the end I just used ridiculously watered down skull white and did about 6 layers. It looks good now though I'll probably do a couple more and then black line it.

And don't be ridiculous - you don't get ignored for being the new guy here. Some people just don't have anything to add to a conversation but check in as they're interested in the tips for themselves. Hence high view count / low post count. It's not a personal thing.
