Ok, so my brother has started to harass our little group of gamers with his monthly painting vows. After about half a year, some of the rest of us are starting to catch what he has got. So far this has taken the form of emails back and forth between friends. I have vowed a few months, and really only had one month where I actual came close to meeting my vow.

So here is how it goes, each month each participant gets the email from my brother with him stating his vows, I think last month his went something like this:
"I <name being withheld>being of unsound mind and questionable hygene do hereby vow to complete at the best of my naturally limited ability the following models (roughly in order) for the magnificent month of August:
> 1. Dwarf Wizard - Borhzos
> 2. Demon - Insectile
> 3. Servo skull 1 (Will's)
> 4. Servo skull 2 (Will's)
> 5. Human Death Cleric (Chainmail)
> 6. Half-Orc Assassin (Chainmail)"

The rest of us respond with whatever we think we can do. Last month I vowed to paint 7 Chimeras, knowing full well I already had a headstart. Unfortunately, I didn't even get close, but at least they all have at least two if not three colors on them.

So the point in relaying this is to help encourage me to actually get me motivated to paint some more. Just a few words of caution before we get started: 1) I am not a pro. I have a good friend that is a professional artist so maybe I have a little bit of a complex, but please be kind. 2) I may not post very often. I will try to post at least a couple of times a month, but.... 3)I may post some personal opinions in the mix, but that doesn't seem to be too big a deal on this site.

So here we go, I foolheart do hereby vow to finish painting my 7 IG Chimeras in the month of September 2012.

So since this is a painting and modeling blog, here are some pictures of my work in progress. You probably pick up on what army I am starting with, but I may as well throw it out there. Steel Legion is rumbling down this road. I should have enough for at least 15 - 2500 points. I may actually try and put together an army list and focus on those models first. But then again, who knows. You will most likely see some Eldar slip in here too. My 9 year old son twisted my army everytime we were in the GW shop until I started to get him his own army, he likes the Alaitoc color scheme, so hopefully I can work some of that in here to mix things up.

Two months ago my vow included my new Manticore, a nice addition to my 3rd Ed army.

Big D!!!

Looks good man. I miss your being out here, and when I saw your tanks (chimera) it took me back. I love that you are focusing on the painting vows. I just sent my monthly (full of excuses) e-mail, but now I feel guilty about not having a blog like yourself . . .hmm . . .

I will need to steal Kathleen's camera methinks since all I have is a cell phone camera. lol

Looking forward to updates and this post is 100% subscribed as of this very moment. Cheers!

You just love those pie plates! Maticore fits in so well with your existing tanks from years ago that I had to double check it was new! Fantastic!

Bastion and Gen. Thanks for the encouragement. I am pretty happy with the manticore. I am hoping to finish up with the tanks first and then get to the troopers. I am thinking once I have a fully playable 2000 point list I will reward myself with some FW Death Corp. models, would use them for my vet squad

Erin gerics, I like the white tips. But I am willing to listen to recommendations. You got any? I was thinking of maybe a green tip on top of the white tip like some AR ammo.

Ok. So I have not had a vow in over a year. So here goes again:

I vow that in the month of January 2014 I will finish paint the infantry models of a minimal sized steel legion platoon. Additionally, I vow to finish three Eldar jet bikes for my son's Alaitoc army.

Happy New Years everyone!

Looks like a challenging but doable goal. I'd like to get back to making monthly vows again, but I'm not sure whether I should be posting them on your Steel Legion thread
