so I've been brainstorming ideas on how to paint eldar vehicles, and ive come up with a decent color scheme. I mixed lead belcher, catachan green, and bone white to make a metallic, off-olive greenish color. so far, im liking how it looks, but I feel like I want to give it a mirror finish. ( eldar vehicles seem like they should always be sleek and polished). so far my buddies have suggested highlighting it, but I would like to try putting a coat of gloss on the armor plating. the trouble is, I have never done this before, and I wont waste my time and effort if the gloss finish idea turns out bad. any suggestions or ideas?

I got the inspiration from the master chiefs armor

To do what you want to do, you will want to use an airbrush and paints suited to the task. There is a specific process to get the mirrored finish, not difficult...just it is a bit different than painting regular colors.

IIRC someone posted a chromed out WS a few months back. You could always get a chrome spray paint and use it as a base, then add details and use a high gloss paint on varnish to make the hand painted parts shine as well...

So you've got the color, you just want to make it glossy?

Well, I would take a spare bit (Rhino door or something) paint it up, gloss it, and see how it goes. Gotta get yourself a high-gloss finish though. Gotta be good stuff.

My only other idea would be to use the Alclad 2 posted above, and use a candy color (it's translucent pigment, thus coloring not covering the chrome) overtop to give yourself a "Green" mirror effect.

Google "Candy color + airbrush paint." Yes you can brush it on, but typically that's the medium that it's found it. OR automotive paints, but I don't think you'll be happy with the smelly fumes. You may have to mix candy green + candy black to get the darker green you're aiming for, but that's cake-work.

Would be really freakin' cool if you pulled it off properly.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?
