Over a year ago, I started a Nurgle CSM army that I created entirely out of bits from my bits box, and a heap of greenstuff. Here is the last blog post I made on the subject:

http://www.alaskavalleygamersclub.blogspot.com/2011/05/bits-box-delve-part-2-followers-of.html

Real life pulled me away for a while, and I came back temporarily at sporadic moments. But now that 6th has been out for a while, and CSM are rumored to be getting a new codex before the year is out, I feel the call of the game! So I decided to revisit the Nurgle army I had begun.

I had experimented with this army by using primarily washes to paint. Lots of green and mud washes yielded a particularly nurgle-esque result, so I have decided to press on with it. After the washes are done, then I go back and block in the primary colors. I haven't decided on how to go about highlighting using this method, but my best guess is to use thinned Bleached Bone on the raised edges. I'll try it out once I am finished blocking the primary colors. Here is the last picture I took of my progress, which comes from the blog post above:

I finally got what I had been waiting for... my Christmas gift from my wife (a bit early, but I had seen our bank statement so I already guessed it ) See the first picture.

Moving on, I got a lot of WIPs to show. I apparently have a problem sitting down and finishing one project, so I do a little bit of everything while accomplishing little... I'll have to fix that soon.

Anyway, here are the promised pics:

Hey Fox!

I think the nurgel guys you made looks good. Good conversions and nice paint job. The banner dude was really nice, the pose is awesome!

Nice paint job on the Chaos lord, he looks nice man. Not going for the nurgle scheme on the new marines in the vengeance pack? Looking forward to see more!

Nice metallics, is that one of the new bronzes?

Did you know? The Reach belongs to the Forsworn.

Thanks for the compliments!

To answer your question, it is not one of the new metallics, it is a Folk Art metallic called "Inca Gold". It is not quite as yellow-orangish as Shining gold, so I use it for a more natural gold look.

I tried my hand at source-lighting for a contest.

I'm not 100 percent happy with it at all, but I'm going to chalk it up to a learning experience and move on! If I learn how to do it right someday, I'll come back and re-paint him.

Now that I have had a week to decide which direction I want to take my army with the new codex, I have decided to go for an Abaddon Chosen army to start with. My work continues with an Abaddon model I kitbashed from the Chaos Lord set and a couple of bits I had lying around.... namely the sword from a Chaos Marauders box and a stormbolter from the AoBR dreadnought.

My other Dark Vengeance chaos set arrived today from Ebay, so I have now constructed those models as well. The sun was out today so I had the chance to prime the remainder of my infantry models, and I expect to start painting up the two boxes of CSM I purchased and constructed earlier this week.

Here's the WIP picture of the Abaddon model I am laboring to paint. I am using a new method of painting gold and I think it is coming out quite well. I expect to be done with him in the coming days!

I'm not sure about how the Talon of Horus looks in this, but this Abaddon definitely looks better than the gakky GW model.

Yeah, I really dislike that GW model. Now that it is finecast, which I am also not a fan of, that kind of made up my mind. So I just used a Chaos Terminator Lord box and went to work.

I know I have been gone for a long while, but even Abaddon had to retreat into the Eye of Terror between Black Crusades...

I've recently picked up a brush again. Most of my paints are dead or dying, so I've had to improvise and work around a lot of stuff. But I am getting a lot of work done on my Chaos models, especially those pesky chosen! I expect to have pictures up very soon. For now, here is a WIP shot of my Helbrute, in Legion colors:

My blog has a new address, trying to tie my multiple gaming personas together: http://teun135miniaturewargaming.blogspot.com/

When I have better light, I expect to post the new pictures of the Chosen models I got table-top ready. I have half of the cultists done as well, so those will be going up soon as well.

@ KingCracker: I can kind of see that haha. Luckily I don't play in a lot of tournaments or anything so my friends know that isn't my intention.... that was just the bit I had lying around. I was inspired by a scratchbuild I had seen somewhere, but I don't have the picture for reference anymore. I will be using a lot of models that would not be allowable in a GM store, simply because I love the aesthetic (such as my DooM models from FFG, they make great Demons).

That aside, I have some new pics of my table-top ready models. I'm not totally happy with the quality, but I will need a trip to a hobby shop to fill up my paint cabinet again after all these years before I can adequately finish them. So here they are, painted to the 3-color minimum, at least.
