Brother Sergeant Arcturus stood in the ruins of what was once an industrial complex. Since the war had come to Perdus, it had become little more than a pile of rubble, which had been hastily bulldozed over so that bastions and other defences could be erected.

Arcturus stood beside his Battle Brothers, clad in Crimson Terminator Armour such as his own. Each held their Storm Shields and Thunder Hammers, ready for the combat that would soon be upon them. This time, however, Arcturus was not the one leading his squad. He glanced at the command units which had been attached to his squad. First there was Corbulo, the chief Sanguinary Priest, his very presence putting Arcturus into a sense of awe. He had seen the Priest in the past, fleetingly, but he was always struck by how his visage truly did reflect that of Sanguinius...

Arcturus then turned his attention to the man who was commanding the respect of even Corbulo, the man who had been chosen by Dante himself to lead their detachment. Atlas stood nearby, his right hand resting on his sheathed force sword, while his left held his storm shield. The Librarian's unnatural silence was unnerving, but Arcturus had learned that it could be a blessing.

+++Steel yourself my brothers. The enemy approaches.+++

The voice echoed in his mind, and Arcturus knew that it did so for every Blood Angel in the vicinity. The foe would soon open fire, and when that happened... well, he was ready to sacrifice his life in the name of the Emperor of Mankind. He just hoped that the barbaric Wolf Lord overseeing their forces knew what he was doing...

His thoughts were interrupted by a world-shattering blast. He looked up quickly, instinctively, at its source. Fire lanced down from heaven and Arcturus knew that it was merely the harbinger of invasion.

Background
When my friends and I entered in the Dakka Dakka Worldwide Campaign, I knew I was going to have to get some epic games in to cement my characters' names in the sagas of the Space Wolves. I love this sort of thing, it's just an excuse to get extremely fluffy. So when the organizers announced that Planetstrike games were going to be worth extra during the first week, I knew I had to get in a huge match. My frequent opponent Atlas jumped on board immediately, and soon we had a third player lined up as well – WCA, a Dark Angels player. We decided on 2000pts per player and would play the Defenders... now we just needed an opponent.

After throwing out some challenges for a week, we finally got some biters from the Unaligned Factions – a Tau player (Aun Tier) and a Tyranid player (40k Pirate). They also recruited 40k Pirate's brother to fill out the rest of their team for the game. It took about a week to get everyone's schedules to mesh, but we eventually all got together and finally duked it out in a 40k battle for the ages...

DEPLOYMENT
Before the battle, we decided that Andilus would be the Warlord for Order, and a Flyrant (codenamed “Bob”) would be Warlord for the Unaligned forces. We rolled and Andilus got Coordinated Assault (not bad), while I believe Bob got Master of Ambush (whatever it was, it was useless). We also rolled for our psychic powers, which I've included in the army lists for convenience's sake.

As the Defenders, the Forces of Order got to place the terrain. We put 8 bastions on the field and a few patches of difficult terrain (the bastions would probably do well enough as LOS blocking terrain so it didn't turn into a total gunline battle). Admittedly, 8 bastions could be pretty cheesy, so we put no mounted weapons on them and said that each side only had 2 fire points. For our stratagems, 1 bastion also got a void shield and turreted stronghold, while 3 others got an ammo dump, power generator and finally a command centre in the center of the board, respectively. The command centre (Tac Marines), power generator (Long Fangs) and another bastion to the north (Long Fangs + Rune Priest) were all marked as objectives.

We decided that we would use our Terminators as Firestorm bait, since they'd get their 2+ saves against them if the enemy tried to use it (and it would keep our bastions in play longer hopefully). Meanwhile, the Long Fangs (including the basic Rune Priest) and Tac Marines would hole up inside of 5 of the Bastions, while the Assault Marines stayed in the last 3 to be available for rapid assault when needed. Everything else stayed in reserves.

The Attackers then began their assault. They chose the north board edge to be their drop zone and revealed their first stratagem – Scorched Skies (2D6 + the number of objectives in preliminary Firestorm attacks). The defenders prepared to weather 9 orbital bombardments. Unexpectedly, the enemy did not take our Terminator bait – instead they aimed for the bastions, but placed the blasts so they'd catch a Terminator or 2 in the process. Thankfully for us, this meant that our Terminators survived mostly intact (only a single Terminator from Selim's squad was killed by an unlucky scatter), but it also meant our bastions took some damage. They got some lucky damage rolls, killing 2 Long Fangs in the northern objective bastion, and managing to wreck another bastion with Long Fangs in it. The destruction itself crushed 3 Long Fangs in the rubble!

All-in-all, that wasn't a terrible Firestorm – I expected to lose 2-3 Terminators, so I'm not sure if a bastion and nearly a full squad of Long Fangs was really worth the trade-off. It definitely could have been much worse though, as their scatter rolls were quite poor. Plus with their forces arriving in force soon, we were about to weather some serious fire...

Selim stood with his battle brothers in the Deathwing in a ring. The bombardment had just ceased, but not without damage – the Deathwing circled their Apothecary, Murad, who was performing the Final Rites on brother Salih.

Selim turned his focus outwards. In the distance, a once-strong bastion was now a smoking wreck, while the one just in front of Selim was scorched from the bombardment. While he couldn't see them, he knew that drop ships were landing nearby and soon the enemy would be upon them.

Let them come, he thought. The Janissaries of Damnation were famed for being a rock upon which the enemy broke, and he fully intended to live up to that reputation.

“It is finished,” announced the Apothecary. The Deathwing turned to face him again. Selim could not read their expressions beneath their helmets, but he knew that grim determination was etched on their faces. More deaths would come before the day was out.

“We will come back for him later,” ordered Selim, gesturing to Salih's body. As he did, the sky suddenly began to darken until the battlefield was thrown into pitch blackness. Selim's helmet compensated, and its infrared sensors lit the battlefield in a green hue. Defenders with weaker constitutions would quake at such an event, but Selim and the Janissaries of Damnation were anything but that. They were the Emperor's finest, his Angels of Death, and they shall know no fear.

“It seems we shall fight in the shade!” joked one of the Deathwing.

“Indeed,” nodded Selim, ignoring the humour in the comment.

Suddenly, the ground began to shake. The Deathwing planted their feet firmly and raised their weapons just as a great serpentine beast tore its way out of the ground just in front of them. Selim lifted his hammer above his head and roared in defiance.

May the Emperor smile upon us today, he thought as the Trygon charged them.

Turn 1 – ATTACKERS
At the start of the attack, the enemy used a planetquake bomb, but luckily for us it failed to do any major damage, aside from knock a couple AV points off of a couple bastions. The bulk of the enemy forces arrived this turn, the only notable exceptions being Farsight and his bodyguards, the Doom of Malan'tai, a Flyrant, the Hammerhead, a squad of Pathfinders, a unit of Broadsides and a unit of Crisis Suits with Missiles. Of the units that did arrive, the Gargoyles and Trygons entered via deep strike, while other units arrived from their drop zone. One unit of Gargoyles landed on the right side of the board beside the Long Fangs which had been blasted out of their bastion. The other unit landed on the left side of the board. Meanwhile, the Trygons both arrived near Selim and his Deathwing unit. The 2 Flyrants that arrived then used their Vector Strike on Selim's squad, killing 1 of them.

Elsewhere, a massive Tau gunline entered from the drop zone, packing enough plasma and rail guns to make me chuckle to think I'd been worried that bastions might be too tough to crack. They levelled their guns and prepared to fire.

In the Shooting Phase, the enemy revealed one of their stratagems – Darken the Skies. This caused the game to enter Night Fighting til Turn 2 and our forces had -2 on morale checks. The gunline then erupted in an incandescent light as plasma and missiles streaked towards the Deathwing Terminators. In total, 5 Terminators died (2 of which were from Selim's squad, leaving only the Apothecary and him). Meanwhile, a unit of Broadsides fired at the south-eastern bastion, knocking 2AV points off of it. The other Broadsides also knocked an AV point off of the northern-most bastion. Finally, the Gargoyles on the right fired their fleshborers at the vulnerable Long Fangs, killing 2 of them and leaving a lone survivor staring down 30 of the flying nasties... which would probably charge him this turn. He hefted his missile launcher and prepared to sell himself dearly...

In the Assault Phase, one of the Trygons managed to charge Selim and the Apothecary. The monstrosity swung its talons at the pair, but its attacks were deflected by their stalwart storm shields. Selim and the Apothecary then struck back with their hammers, wounding it a couple times (Selim himself, unfortunately, whiffed severely – he didn't even get a single hit!). Meanwhile the Gargoyles had a bout of bad luck, coming up an inch short on their charge distance! The Long Fang breathed a huge sigh of relief and thanked the All-father for his good fortune.

(I accidentally forgot to take the picture at the end of the Attackers' Turn 1 until our subsequent Movement Phase. This is what the table looked like at that time though.)

The aged Rune Priest stood with his gauntlet gripping the low ceiling in the Rhino. The APC shook violently as it drove over the rubble. Ellri Hraustr grumbled and grit his teeth, baring his fangs. The drivers of this particular Rhino were a couple of whelps with the sense of a Blood Claw. More than once, he had wondered if Andilus had assigned him to this Rhino as a sort of sick joke. He looked back to his squad, a battle hardened unit of Grey Hunters, veterans of a dozen campaigns.

Suddenly a voice crackled over his vox unit. “This is Tactical Company Sirfir at the Command Centre. The enemy has launched their attack. Requesting assistance.”

Ellri engaged the vox and replied, “This is Ellri Hraustr, we copy and are inbound as we speak.”

The Grey Hunters looked to him expectantly. They clearly venerated the Priest's battle experience, and his unnatural manipulation of the wyrd. “Okay you lot,” he barked, “we've gotten the signal and will meet with the foe shortly. We've got air support inbound. Let's show those xenos who it is that defends this world!”

The Grey Hunters let out a whoop, which was echoed in the drivers' cabin. The APC picked up speed and jolted violently as it hit a bump. Ellri hit his head on the ceiling from the unexpected movement and growled loudly.

Bloody drunken morons, he thought. The sooner I'm out of this deathtrap, the better.

Soon the sounds of battle could be heard from even inside the cramped confines of the Rhino. Ellri gave the signal, the hatches opened and the Wolves stormed out into the battle. Ravenwing Land Speeders streaked over their heads, their assault cannons spraying lead into the enemy battle lines. The Wolves let up a howl in excitement for the coming bloodshed.

Turn 1 – DEFENDERS
The Forces of Order had taken a fair bit of damage already, but they hoped to turn things around now. The majority of our forces arrived from reserves, aside from a Stormraven, Andilus' and his unit and the Plasma Veterans. All of the Land Speeders arrived in the enemy drop zone, and moved to fire at the vehicles (the Tau were employing a Fish of Fury strategy, and we were aiming to blunt that idea). Ellri Hrauster's Grey Hunters arrived on the right side of the board and disembarked to shoot the Gargoyles, while the other Grey Hunter unit arrived on the left to shoot the other Gargoyle squad. Lastly, the Stormraven and Vendetta both moved to intercept the Flyrants and put them out of commission early.

In the Movement phase, we revealed one of our stratagems – the left-most bastion containing a unit of Assault Marines had an escape hatch. The Marines used this and because of the specific wording of the stratagem, they were able to assault out of it. The Marines directed themselves towards a unit of Crisis Suits and Broadsides. Another unit of Assault Marines also disembarked their bastion to shoot their flamers at the right Gargoyle squad. The last Assault Marine squad remained in their bastion so they could fire pot shots from the fire points with their meltaguns.

In the Shooting Phase, the Land Speeders fired their weapons. The Blood Angels' one managed to wreck one a Devilfish (for First Blood!) and the Assault Cannon Speeders killed a Shas'o and his bodyguard, but the Typhoons whiffed – they couldn't get past a Devilfish's jink saves. The Stormraven fired its weapons at one of the Flyrants, causing 3 wounds. However, the Flyrant failed its grounded test, and the creature slammed into the ground and died. The Vendetta focused its fire on Bob, the Warlord Flyrant, causing 3 wounds but failing to ground the beast. Meanwhile, the south-east Assault Squad fired its flamers at the Gargoyles, wiping out the whole squad with the combined power of 2 flamers and a hand flamer gunslinger sergeant. The Grey Hunters also killed 10 Gargoyles from the other squad on the left with their bolters.

In the Assault Phase, things started heating up. The Assault Marines charged the Crisis Suits and Broadsides, losing 1 squad member to overwatch. The Broadside Shas'vre challenged the Sergeant, who accepted... and then proceeded to get killed. The rest of the unit did well though, killing 2 Crisis Suits, which stayed in combat. Meanwhile, 2 more Deathwing units dog piled the Trygon to help out Selim, and they easily killed it (although the Apothecary was killed by it, and Selim whiffed all his attacks AGAIN). Finally, the left-most Deathwing unit charged the remaining Gargoyles, but were met with a bout of bad luck – 1 Terminator was killed by overwatch, and then 2 more were killed before they even got to strike! The remaining Terminator held strong, but he was in a precarious position now, facing down just under 20 Gargoyles by himself.

Sergeant Galen roared as his dual hand flamers sprayed gouts of fire at the soaring Gargoyles. The flying monstrosities had been strafing his squad, but their flame weapons had caused them to fall from the sky like bricks of charcoal.

Soon he realized they were all dead and gave the order to cease fire. The squad immediately stopped and the sounds of battle became distant once more.

Alright, thought the sergeant methodically from his decades of combat training, we'll report to Atlas and then find out where to redeploy...

No sooner did he think this though, then the ground started to shake. Just south of them, a monstrous creature emerged from the ground, its gaping maw large enough to swallow a Marine whole.

“Kill that thing!” ordered Galen. As he said this, suddenly the Marine to his left exploded in a brilliant flash of light. Momentarily stunned, Galen turned and saw another threat had just arrived. A large squad of battle suits descending with their jet packs. His experience fighting the Tau caused him to recollect their designation – XV8 Crisis Suits – from pure instinct. The newly arrived xenos peppered Galen's squad with plasma rifles, tearing apart his comrades left and right.

Galen sprayed flame at the aliens from his dual pistols, hoping to sell himself dearly. It was the last hope to race through his head as moments later a bolt of super-heated plasma tore through his chest and fried his insides, killing the Space Marine instantly...

Turn 2 – ATTACKERS
Aside from the last unit of Pathfinders, the rest of the Unaligned forces arrived on the battlefield. However, this was not without incident. A unit of Crisis Suits tried to deep strike behind our main line, but they ran into the Stormraven and had a mishap. The unit was Misplaced, and ended up landing closer to the front line. The Doom of Malan'tai also had a rough landing as his Spore Pod ran afoul of a Krak Attack. The Pod was annihilated, but the Doom itself was unharmed, landing squarely between 4 units of Terminators (we had tried to warn WCA about the Doom's imminent arrival, but I don't believe he had fought the creature before and wasn't aware of the danger it posed to our bunched up Terminators). Meanwhile, to the south, a Mawloc arrived. It attempted to land right on top of the south-most unit of Assault Marines, but scattered wide and ended up closer to their former bastion. Commander Farsight made up for this though as he and his unit of XV8 Crisis Suits landed well within range to destroy them in a hail of plasma. A lone Shas'o and a pair of Hive Guard also arrived to the south, well away from the front lines. Finally, the last Flyrant arrived and performed a Vector Strike on the Vendetta. The gunship tried to evade the attack, but failed as the Tyrant tore off 2 Hull Points and locked its velocity in the process! Flyrant Bob also used its Vector Strike to kill another Deathwing Terminator.

In the Shooting Phase, the Doom's Spirit Leech reached out to the Terminators surrounding it. Atlas rolled poorly, losing 2 of his Terminators to the beast's power. Despite having 3 units in range of the Doom's attack, WCA was far luckier – only Selim himself suffered a wound. As the shooting began in earnest, the newly arrived Flyrant fired its Devourers at the crippled Vendetta, blowing it out of the sky. The flaming wreckage spiralled out of control and nearly crushed a nearby Blood Angels Terminator. Another Terminator was also killed by the Warlord Flyrant's Devourers.

Elsewhere, the Shooting Phase was just as intense. To the South, Farsight's unit blasted the exposed Assault Marines into oblivion. 8 of them were killed, and the 2 survivors fled the battlefield. To the North, the Broadsides turned their attentions on the closest bastions. The bastion containing the melta Assault Marines was blown sky-high, killing 5 Assault Marines in the blast and turning the bastion into a burnt-out husk. The bastion beside it – an objective containing the junior Rune Priest and a squad of Long Fangs – was annihilated as well, as 2 Long Fangs were crushed by the collapsing rubble. A squad of Plasma Crisis Suits also turned the Assault Cannon Land Speeders to slag.

However, there was some good fortune for the Forces of Order during this Shooting Phase. To the north-west, the Tau focused their fire on the Grey Hunters and Land Speeders bearing down on them. Despite the combined fire of 2 Devilfishes, a Shas'el, 3 Missile Pod Crisis Suits and 2 Fire Warrior teams, they failed to cause any damage. Only killing a single Grey Hunter was killed, and this was by the Hive Guard to the south.

In the Assault Phase, the last Trygon failed to make its way into combat. The Gargoyles, still locked in combat from the previous turn, tore apart the last remaining Terminator before it had a chance to strike. Finally, the Assault Squad to the north routed the Broadsides off the table after killing the last Crisis Suit, and consolidated to launch their renewed attack in the next turn.

All-in-all, the Attackers had shown that they still had considerable firepower to match the Defenders' with. The Forces of Order needed to rally this turn and deal with the main gun line and the rampaging units in their rear lines, or they might get blown off the table under a torrent of plasma fire and scythed talons...

Atlas' mind bellowed in rage as he felt the psychic signatures of his brothers disappear. His men, which had just purged a swarm of xenos by themselves had been cut down from an unexpected quarter, while the few survivors had been forced to fall back and regroup. Atlas could see the flashes of light behind them and knew that he was needed there.

He sent out a psychic message to his units:

+++This is Brother Epistolary Atlas, a large contingent of xenos have penetrated our rear lines. Moving to engage.+++

His squad sprinted towards the battle, making good speed despite the bulkiness of their tactical dreadnought armour. Understandably, Brother Corbulo's lighter power armour allowed him to lead the way.

As they passed a smoking bastion, the enemy came into view. Atlas recognized them from his previous experiences with the Tau – “Crisis” Battle Suits. He also recognized the insignia of a Tau Commander, one of some importance based on his equipment. The Epistolary gathered this with impassivity as he reached out into the warp and projected a hallucination on the xenos' impure minds. The squad was immediately thrown into a panic, allowing the Terminators to close the gap without being shot to pieces in the process.

Just past the Tau forces, Atlas saw the shapes of Imperial vehicles arriving on the scene. He picked out the silhouette of a Rhino and a Chimera. He recognized the Rhino immediately and projected a message to one of its occupants.

+++Nice of you to join us, Wolf Lord Greatsword.+++

The Wolf Lord retorted over his vox unit: “You didn't think I'd miss a good fight, did you? Save some for me!”

The Rhino skidded to a halt and a pack of Space Wolves emerged from it. At their head, Atlas saw their warlord in his armour, studded in runes and wearing the pelt of a massive wolf – Andilus Greatsword had taken to the field. His Grey Hunters raised their bolters at the xenos and prepared to fire.

The Tau were caught between the guns of the Wolves and the hammers of the Blood Angels. Atlas drew his Force Sword and raised it as he charged – the Tau would soon learn the price of the abomination which was their very existence...

Turn 2 – DEFENDERS
All of our reinforcements arrived this turn. Andilus' squad and the Plasma Veterans both arrived to the south (thank Russ for Acute Senses, Andilus' Rhino nearly entered play from the drop zone) and prepared to open fire on Farsight and the Mawloc. The 2nd Stormraven flew in and prepared to blow the remaining Flyrants both out of the sky. The only unit which had a somewhat messy arrival was the Ravenwing Bikers, which were forced to arrive from the densely-packed drop zone. WCA decided to risk the terrain and had them pass through an industrial complex to attack the nearby Broadsides and Crisis Suits.

At the start of our turn, Atlas cast Hallucination on Farsight's unit, causing them to attack each other. However, due to the poorness of Tau close combat weapons, the damage was fairly minor. Ellri Hraustr also cast Misfortune on a nearby unit of Crisis Suits, and prepared to rapid fire them into submission. To the North-west, the Grey Hunters advanced to attack the Gargoyles, but then I realized I could tank shock them instead. The drivers gunned it and actually managed to cause the entire unit to flee from the table! Meanwhile, Atlas and his unit turned around to deal with Commander Farsight and his unit personally. Finally, Selim and 4 Deathwing Terminators moved to deal with the final Trygon.

In the Shooting Phase, the Doom was unable to Spirit Leech – our forces had moved out of its range, skirting the fringes so that they could launch an assault on it if our shooting failed us. However, it wasn't even an issue – the junior Rune Priest and the 2 surviving Long Fangs fired a volley at the Doom, and it failed its invulnerable save, dying from the first shot flung at it! It was a stroke of unbelievably good fortune for the Forces of Order, as I can say from personal experience that the Doom of Malan'tai can single-handedly win games, it is that potent. Ellri Hraustr and his unit fired their bolters at the Misfortuned Crisis Suits, killing 2 of them before their Rhino moved flat out to cover them from shooting. Andilus' squad also rapid fired at Farsight, killing a couple Crisis Suits there as well. The Plasma Vets also had some good fortune, firing their weapons at the Mawloc and stripping 4 wounds off of the beast (only the Lord Commissar rolled a for Gets Hot, losing a wound in the process). Far off to the south, the Turreted Bastion fired its battlecannon at the Hammerhead, catching a unit of Pathfinders and Crisis Suits in the process. The Hammerhead was Shaken by the shell and a Crisis Suit was killed, as were 4 Pathfinders (which failed their morale check and fled the board). The Typhoon Land Speeders blew up one of the Devilfish as well. Finally, the Stormravens shot both Flyrants out of the sky, scoring the Forces of Order the Slay the Warlord secondary objective.

In the Assault Phase, the Assault Marines which had been sewing chaos in the Tau gun line multi-assaulted a unit of Crisis Suits and Pathfinders. The Pathfinder Shas'ui challenged the Sanguinary Priest to single combat, and amazingly survived (the Priest whiffed his attacks). A Crisis Suit was killed, as were 3 Pathfinders in exchange for a single Assault Marine, but they held their ground. Meanwhile, Selim and his Terminators assaulted the Trygon, but were met with a disastrous bout of misfortune – the Trygon absolutely annihilated all 4 Terminators with its attacks! Standing alone against a creature which, in all likelihood, would kill him, Selim struck back with his hammer stripping off 2 wounds from the Trygon. The Dark Angel resolutely stood his ground and prepared to ward off its attacks until support could arrive.

Finally, Atlas and his unit charged Farsight. Luckily for them, no one was killed by overwatch, despite the plethora of plasma weapons at the Broadsides' disposal. As the fight began, Farsight bellowed a challenge and Brother Corbulo answered it. The duo fought against one another, with Corbulo causing a single wound in the fight. Meanwhile, Atlas himself killed 2 Crisis Suits with his Force Sword. The Crisis Suits failed to cause any wounds, so the last 3 Terminators killed all but 1 of the Suits. Crushed utterly by the attack, Farsight and the lone survivor fled the battlefield and Atlas' unit consolidated northwards to attempt to rejoin the fight.

The game had been a back-and-forth affair thus far, but there was a palpable sense at the close of this turn that the Forces of Order had just struck back the hardest we had yet seen. The Tau gun line was under immediate threat and they were going to have to get a good deal of luck if they hoped to put the Defenders on their heels once again...

Selim's mind raced as his thunder hammer smashed into the Trygon's body, causing it to utter a horrendous shriek. Moments before, he had watched the beast tear his comrades, his brothers, to ribbons. Their armour had been no protection from the monster, and now where four had failed, he found himself alone.

The creature, momentarily stunned by the concussive effect of the thunder hammer, renewed its onslaught. Selim side-stepped its talon, then raised his shield to repel two others. Its tooth-filled jaws widened to try to bite him in half, but Selim anticipated this, swinging his hammer upwards and bashing the head sideways. The creature nearly fell over from the force of the impact.

Selim's advanced physiology pumped combat stimulants through his body, keeping him from being overcome with exhaustion. He had fought many creatures like this one in his career, but nothing like this by himself.

The Trygon righted itself and bared its teeth, like never-ending rows of Catachan knives. It raised its claws and Selim knew it would strike in mere seconds. He raised his shield and pulled back his hammer to strike as a battle cry rose into his throat.

“For the Lion!!!” he roared as the foes threw themselves at one another.

Turn 3 – ATTACKERS
The final unit arrived from reserves, a squad of Pathfinders, which moved onto the board behind the attacking Assault Marines. Reacting to the threat to their gun line, the Tau forces split into 2 divisions, covering the right and left sides of the board and forcing the Defenders to divide their forces. Sensing that they needed to start focusing on the objectives, the Tau moved a Devilfish and Fire Warriors to secure the northern-most objective, a wrecked bastion. The Mawloc also decided to try to slay Andilus, moving to attempt to charge his squad.

In the Shooting Phase, the Broadsides directed their guns at the bastions. The south-most objective containing the power generator was blown apart, and 2 Long Fangs were killed in the destruction. The Hive Guard attempted to destroy the Turreted Bastion's void shield, but whiffed every single shot. A Devilfish managed to kill a couple Assault Marines caught out in the open. A squad of Missile Crisis Suits also tried to shoot down one of the Stormravens, but their shots all missed the fast-moving flyer. Finally, the Hammerhead and Fire Warriors directed their fire at the Typhoon Speeders, finally destroying the vehicles after numerous attempts.

In the Assault Phase, Selim continued to hold against the Trygon, causing a couple wounds without suffering any in return. The Assault Marines managed to rout the Crisis Suits off of the table, but failed to break the resolute Pathfinders (to everyone's surprise) – although the Sanguinary Priest did manage to kill the Shas'ui this time. Finally, the Mawloc attacked Andilus and his squad, killing 4 Grey Hunters with its furious attack. However, Andilus hefted his greatsword and slaughtered the monster, causing 4 wounds – more than enough to kill the creature. He and his unit consolidated to the north to see what use they could be before the game ended.

After the strong push by the Forces of Order in the previous turn, this one felt weak in comparison. The Attackers were running out of steam to keep the pressure on – it seemed that the previous attack may have crippled them. While defeat was far from assured, the Attackers had needed some luck this turn if they wanted to keep the pressure on, and the dice gods had not been with them. That said, the Defenders were running dangerously short on man-power (most visibly represented by the surviving Terminators – of the 32 Terminators which began the battle, only 9 now remained). They needed to secure their objectives and kill all stragglers and threats if they wants to avoid a late-game disaster...

Freki and Hrolf, the headstrong drivers of Ellri Hraustr's Rhino, squinted out the vision slit at the battle outside. Ahead they could see an assortment of Tau spread out, their guns trained on their allies.

“You thinking what I'm thinking?” asked Freki.

Hrolf nodded. “Do it,” he said.

The contemptuous drivers hit the accelerator and the Rhino shot forward. True, the pair had indulged in perhaps a bit too much Fenrisian ale before the battle (hence their questionable driving skills), but Russ favoured the bold. The Rhino barrelled down on the hapless xenos, which fled in surprise. Hrolf and Freki's howls of laughter could be heard over the roaring of the engine.

A battlesuit stood in their path, its feet planted firmly into the dirt. Its weapons lit up and tore a hole in the Rhino's hull. Instead of stopping, swerving or just shooting it, Freki just sped up until the Suit disappeared and something screeched under the Rhino's treads.

“I think we hit something!” laughed Freki.

Another squad of battlesuits stood in their path, but the Rhino rammed them before they had a chance to react. The impact sent them to a screeching halt, and they heard the crunch of metal. For a moment the pair sat in silence, half-expecting to be blown sky-high by retaliatory fire, but Morkai did not come for them.

A voice cut across their vox channel. They instantly recognized its owner, Ellri Hraustr. “I don't know what you whelps think you were doing,” he growled, “but that was one of the most ridiculously stupid things I've ever seen...” There was a few seconds of silence before Ellri added: “Good work.”

Freki and Hrolf just looked at each other for a moment and grinned.

Turn 3 – DEFENDERS
At this point the Defenders could taste victory, but it was still not guaranteed. Knowing the bitter sting of victory snatched away at the last second, the Forces of Order moved to secure their objectives. The melta Assault Marines moved to shoot up the Hive Guard and keep them away from the Command Centre. The Stormravens both went into Hover Mode, 1 focusing on the lone Shas'o to the south, and the other focusing on the objective-camping Devilfish (or the “Objectifish” as we called it in the game ).

Meanwhile, Ellri's Rhino (inspired by the Rhino that routed the unit of Gargoyles) plowed through the Tau lines. To everyone's surprise, it routed the remains of 2 Fire Warrior units off the board, crushed a Crisis Suit that tried to Death or Glory, and then to top it off it ran a full unit of Broadsides off the board as well!!! 1 little 35pt Rhino took out ~400pts worth of Tau! It was another bout of bad luck for the Attackers when they couldn't afford it.

Anyway, the 2 remaining Deathwing Terminators moved to assault the Objectifish, Ellri moved to assault the nearby Crisis Suits (after casting Misfortune on the Broadsides) and Atlas sent one of his Terminator squads to help out Selim.

In the Shooting Phase, the combined fire from the melta Assault Squad and the Stormraven (using POTMS) destroyed the Hive Guard, but the Stormraven's multi-melta failed to kill the Shas'o! The 2 decimated units of Long Fangs also failed to kill it, as did the Chimera's multilaser, but when the 4 Long Fangs on the south objective shot it it finally died. To the North, the other Stormraven failed to destroy the Objectifish, but it did kill a lone Crisis Suit. The Ravenwing Bikers fired their weapons at the Broadsides, and with the help of Misfortune, killed 2. It looked as if they wouldn't get to assault the last one, but then Ellri Hraustr's squad got some luck and killed 2 of the Crisis Suits blocking the way. The only other shooting this turn saw the Turreted Stronghold kill 2 Pathfinders from a stray blast and strip a Hull Point off of a Devilfish.

In the Assault Phase, the Assault Marines finished off the Pathfinders they had been fighting for 3 turns now, and consolidated towards the Hammerhead. The Deathwing assaulted the Objectifish, destroying it easily. The Ravenwing also charged the last Broadside, but completely whiffed their attacks. Finally, Atlas' Terminators charged the Trygon to help Selim, but the resilient warrior managed to kill it by himself after saving another 4 wounds! For the record, he had saved 9 wounds from the Trygon since he had started fighting it, not to mention all the shooting he had shrugged off earlier! There was no doubt about it at this point – Selim was a freaking brick wall of badassery.

Sergeant Muharrem of Tactical Company Sirfir stood in the fortified Command Centre overseeing the battle unfolding outside. Brothers Hasan and Kemal stood by the firing ports, shooting their missile launcher and plasma gun, respectively, at the enemy. The holo-display in the center of the room showed the positions of the troops on the battlefield, and Muharrem knew that the enemy was being pushed back steadily. He was also pleased to discover that the last of the Tyranids in this sector had been purged – the Tau no longer could mask their assault behind them.

However, he also was pained to see how few of his comrades' vital signs were still in active. Even as he watched the display, another Janissary blip winked out of existence. Muharrem prayed to the Emperor that his brothers were making a difference, that their deaths weren't for nothing...

While he considered this, he was heartened to see that Master Selim's vital signs were still showing strong. The Company Master had waded through the toughest currents of the battlefield and emerged practically unscathed still – he was truly an inspiration to them all, the Emperor clearly had plans for him.

Muharrem engaged his vox unit and sent a message to all the command units still active on the battlefield: “This is Tactical Company Sirfir, enemies are beginning to fall back. Pursue and engage.”

Turn 4 – ATTACKERS
With the death of the Trygon, the last of the Tyranids had been expunged from the surface of Perdus (well, this particular battlefield anyway ). Knowing that victory was probably no longer an option, the Tau forces prepared to sell themselves dearly. Unfortunately, the dice gods abandoned them in the Shooting Phase – the Hammerhead fired its ion cannon at the exposed Assault Marines which had been tearing through their lines, and didn't get a single hit! In addition, all the Tau units on the left side of the board fired at the Grey Hunters, and they just refused to die – they took around 15 armour saves and only failed 1! On the right side of the field, things were slightly better, as a Crisis Suit shot down 1 of the Deathwing, leaving only a single Deathwing Terminator on the battlefield (the sole survivor of the 20 which started the battle, not including Selim). In the Assault Phase, the Ravenwing continued to whiff their attacks, and so that fight continued.

Ellri Hraustr watched in fury as the Tau cut down another Deathwing Terminator before he could defend himself. The other raised his shield and deflected the incoming fire, but it was too late for his battle brother. The Battlesuit took cover behind a hovering Devilfish, which opened fire on the Terminator with its burst cannon.

Ellri bared his fangs in a wicked snarl, and looked back to his Grey Hunter charges.

“Go!” he roared, pointed his axe at the Devilfish. Immediately the squad sprinted forward, firing their weapons. The Devilfish's burst cannon swung from the Terminator to the advancing marines, tearing up the ground as it shifted targets. Ellri reached into the wyrd, showing his brothers the future path of the plasma in their mind's eye. They dodged the plasma bursts without breaking their stride.

Fjölmódr, who Ellri had noticed had the mark of the Wulfen upon him, was the first to reach the Devilfish. He lunged upon it, a trail of spittle coming free of his slathering jaws. He landed on its fore, tearing into the armoured compartments with his claws and ripping free the weapon targeting systems. His pack arrived quickly after, lobbing krak grenades at the wounded hover tank. One of the grenades found a weak point, and the Devilfish's starboard engine exploded in a blossom of fire. The tank began to drag across the ground but still wasn't down.

Ellri planned on changing that. He hefted his axe and ran across the top of the tank. He reached the crew compartment and tore open the hatch. The surprised faces of the xenos looked up at him and scarcely had time to register their doom. The Priest's axe flashed down, decapitating the crew before he tossed a krak grenade inside. He motioned for the pack to fall back and ran as an explosion ripped from inside the Devilfish and it became a flaming hulk.

The Grey Hunters admired their handiwork. The flames of the wreck reflected in their eyes, mirroring the flames of hate their hearts stoked towards the xenos.

Turn 4 – DEFENDERS
The Attackers needed some luck if they even wanted the remotest chance to win this, but the dice gods had completely abandoned them last turn. Thus, it was time to mop up. Ellri Hraustr and his squad moved to assault the nearest Devilfish and the last Deathwing Terminator decided to help out the Ravenwing Bikers. 2 of the Blood Angels' Terminators also moved to attack a Devilfish. The Melta Assault Marines turned their attention to the last unit of Crisis Suits. Selim turned his attention to the lone Crisis Suit which had killed the 2nd last Deathwing Terminator. Finally, the other Assault Marines (miraculously spared from the ion cannon's wrath) jumped over the Pathfinders in front of them and moved to multi-assault the Shas'el and 2 units of Fire Warriors.

In the Shooting Phase, all that really happened was that Ellri's unit's meltaguns failed to damage their Devilfish, and the melta Assault Marines, a Stormraven and Grey Hunters killed 2 of the Crisis Suits. The other Stormraven also destroyed the Hammerhead. Finally, the Turreted Bastion fired at the lone Crisis Suit, but scattered and shook the Rhino that tank shocked all the Tau off the board.

In the Assault Phase, the Assault Marines attacked the Fire Warriors and Shas'el, losing 1 Marine to overwatch. The Shas'el challenged the Sanguinary Priest, which accepted. However, neither was able to kill the other. The rest of the Marines managed to kill 2 Fire Warriors, causing 1 of the units to break and run (they ran off the board at the start of the next turn). The other Assault Squad charged the remaining Crisis Suit and easily destroyed it. Ellri Hraustr and his unit charged their Devilfish, and the Priest himself was the one to deliver the killing blow. Selim charged the last Crisis Suit on the board, killing it himself and avenging the death of his battle brother. Finally, the last Deathwing Terminator charged the Crisis Suit... but even with his help, they STILL failed to kill the last Broadside (the Terminator whiffed all his attacks)!!!

Selim brought his hammer down on the last Crisis Suit's helmet, turning it into a flattened piece of scrap metal. The Battlesuit immediately stopped moving, and alien blood began to trickle from the cracks in the helmet.

Selim felt a tinge of bittersweet vindication. These suits had carved up his brothers today with their accursed weaponry. He was glad to be rid of them, and to be the one to honour his men by executing the killing blow, but it was little more than a symbolic action. Very few of his company veterans would be leaving the battlefield alive – at best, he hoped a few could be revived by the apothecaries. He wished that the field apothecary had not been killed by the Tyranids, because if he had not then more of his comrades could have been saved.

He was pulled away from his thoughts by the sound of movement from behind. He turned and saw a squad of Tau running towards him, guns raised. Even with defeat assured, they kept coming.

Brave, thought Selim. But foolish. Oh so very foolish...

Turn 5 – ATTACKERS
The Attackers made their final actions, hoping to at least get 1 objective before the end. The last Devilfish flew over the Assault Marines, ending up just ahead of the melta Assault Marines and Grey Hunters. The Pathfinders also moved to open fire on Selim, while the last Fire Warriors stood in the corner and prepared to open fire.

In the Shooting Phase, the Pathfinders fired on Selim, but he saved all their shots (yet AGAIN!). Meanwhile, the Fire Warriors rapid fired at the Grey Hunters, but Russ and the All-father continued to smile upon them – they saved all the shots.

In the Assault Phase, the Assault Marines killed the last of the Fire Warriors, which caused the Shas'el to run. However, the Assault Marines caught him and tore him down in a sweeping advance. In the Broadside assault, I joked that if the Terminator didn't do it this turn, I was gonna send the “old man” (Ellri) in to clean things up. This was rather portent though since the Ravenwing and Terminators failed to kill the Broadside STILL (hmm maybe I have the Divination lore in real life...? ). For the 2nd turn in a row the Terminator whiffed all of its attacks...

Victory was now assured. Now to see if we could purge the last of the xenos from the board before the game ended...

Titus, the Sanguinary Priest who had taken charge of the late Sergeant Aemilius' squad, plunged his chainsword into the Tau Commanders' back, tearing through armoured plating like butter. The Commander fell and then did not get up again. Standing upon the roof of a ruined building, the Assault Marines instantly turned their attentions to the final squad of Fire Warriors on the ground below. Each and every one of the Marines crimson armour was stained blue from the sheer number of Tau they had slain today already.

Titus pointed his chainsword towards the last of the xenos. “Victory is near!” he yelled. “Go now! By the Blood Of Sanguinius!”

Turn 5 – DEFENDERS
Since most units were too far out to do anything now, most of our units milled about (Andilus and Atlas both met up at the Command Centre for beers ). True to my word, Ellri “the old man” Hraustr moved to go show the Terminator a thing or 2 about killing Broadsides. Meanwhile, on the west side of the field, the Grey Hunters and Assault Marines pointed their meltaguns at the fleeing Devilfish's rear and prepared to open fire. Finally, the other Assault Marines prepared to kill their final unit of Fire Warriors (and bring their tally up to 2 units of Crisis Suits, 1 unit of Broadsides, 1 unit of Pathfinders, 1 Shas'el and 3 units of Fire Warriors). Then, for a laugh, I rolled to see if my drunken Rhino drivers that killed 400pts worth of Tau would wreck themselves on difficult terrain... and did!

...and that's why you don't drink and drive. The drivers stumbled out of their Rhino in a daze, but the vehicle was totalled.

In the Shooting Phase, the Grey Hunters opened fire on the Devilfish first, immobilizing it with their shot (it had gone Flat Out last turn though, so it was wrecked).

In the Assault Phase, the Assault Marines tore into the last Fire Warriors, killing all but 1, which fled from the battlefield. Selim charged the Pathfinders, killing 2 and running the other 2 off the table. Finally, Ellri assaulted the Broadside. This time, however, the Terminator managed to wound the Broadside, but Ellri also got in 3 wounds himself (which I successfully made 3 instant death wounds with his force weapon roll), so they destroyed the Broadside a few times over.

With that, the battlefield went silent. The last of the foe were either dead or routed. The Forces of Order stood – bloodied and battered – but triumphant...

VICTORY FOR THE FORCES OF ORDER!!!

Andilus and Atlas stood in the Command Centre, watching the holo-display with Sergeant Muharrem as the last of the enemy blips winked out of existence, or retreated beyond its range. Andilus' scribe, skjald Synjallr Skyn, stood just behind him, taking note of everything that occurred. Soldiers began to report in.

“This is acting officer Titus, enemy routed, preparing to pursue and engage.”

“This is Ellri Hraustr, the last of the enemy in this sector has been slain. Moving to destroy any stragglers.”

“Master Selim reporting in. I'm disengaging, send apothecaries so that I can attend to the dead and the wounded.”

Andilus looked to the others in the room. He was proud of them all, they had fought a great victory here, denying the enemy planetfall. He had been unsure of the Janissaries of Damnation upon their arrival – as Dark Angels successors, he was naturally wary and untrusting of them. However, their valorous conduct on the field of battle had been instrumental to the victory, and he clapped Sergeant Muharrem on the shoulder in recognition of it.

“Excellent work men,” the Wolf Lord said. “We have shown those who would oppose the Emperor the foolishness of their defiance. You have all earned a place in the sagas with your actions.”

He looked to Synjallr Skyn, who nodded. The skjald would record the tale of the battle to memory. Andilus knew that one day the story would entertain his men with its tales of heroics and treachery.

The Wolf Lord did not say what was still in his mind though. This was just the first shots in a sure to be bloody war. They had won the day here, but there were still more battles to come. Best not to trouble their minds now though – let them celebrate the victory and mourn their losses before thinking to the future.

Until next winter...

AFTERTHOUGHTS
What an epic battle! For the record, it took 11 1/2 hours to finish the game, split over 2 days of play. The first 2 turns were really the crux of things, with each turn causing the battle to swing into the other side's favour. It wasn't until around Turn 3 that things started to go in the Defenders' favour, and even then the battle was a fun and intense time for all involved. I want to do a shout-out to Aun Tier and 40k Pirate (and his brother), our esteemed opponents – more than once they had us on our heels, and even when things turned around they were a blast to play against. They're great guys.

In terms of strategy, I think that my Terminator gambit worked quite well. They didn't take the brunt of the firestorm, but the next stage of the plan (for them to be our bulwark) did work quite well. If the Terminators hadn't been absorbing most of the firepower throughout the game, our Assault Marines and Grey Hunters would probably have been decimated. That said, the Deathwing suffered very grievous losses – only Selim and 1 Deathwing Terminator survived the battle. In fact, of the 32 Terminators that started the battle, only 8 survived (Atlas' Terminators were relatively sheltered from incoming fire most of the game). For this, I salute WCA and his forces – they were the game changers.

As for our opponents, when I saw how many Crisis Suits were in the enemy army, I nearly ed myself. That much plasma could have annihilated our Terminator gambit with a bit more luck. Even as it was, they're the primary reason why so few Terminators survived the battle. We're also very fortunate to have killed Farsight and his unit, because they would have harassed our very weakened backlines. I'll also say that Disruption Pods are amazing. We threw so much firepower at those Devilfishes, and those things just sucked everything up. We literally couldn't destroy a single one of them until we got within 12”. As for the Tyranids, they did pretty well but suffered from a lack of bodies on the field. I think if they had used a few Tervigons, they could have flooded the field with enough Gaunts that we couldn't have killed them all, or could have cleared out the objectives. The Tyranids just had poor luck most of the game though.

All-in-all though, it was a very fun game. Lots of absolutely epic moments – the Rhino running 400pts of Tau off the board, Selim refusing to even take a wound, Atlas' Assault Squad of Doom, the Pathfinders who just wouldn't break, the immortal Broadside and Andilus smiting the Mawloc... that's an epic 40k experience right down to the core!

If you enjoyed this, be sure to check out my other battle reports!

Yeah during the battle I didn't think my Marines were getting much action, but in retrospect they did pretty well (especially Ellri's squad and their Rhino haha).

Sounds like it was great fun. I'm jealous! I'm also glad there were no superheavies/titans. Those things just go a step too far for me.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Yeah most of us couldn't have afforded any super heavies on our sides anyways.

How did the 6th edition rules work out for you in this game?

I see you used the first blood rule, did you use the others as well.?

It seems like the defender usually has the advantage in Planet Strike. Who would you think has more of an advantage?

I am starting a campaign and am trying to use Planet Strike missions in it. I will probaly house rule a couple things, that is why I am curious about answers to the above questions.

Thanks and great report, that seems like an awesome game.

Yeah, your side definitely gave us a run for our money in the first couple turns.

Soss wrote:How did the 6th edition rules work out for you in this game?

We used everything but Linebreaker, but in retrospect they were entirely useless (since each objective would be worth more than the 2 secondaries together). It was mostly for flavour I guess. We basically just played the 6th ed rules, and used the Planetstrike rules as basically the mission (so, for example, we ruled that the mission allowed vehicles to score). It's worth house-ruling the contradictions though, because it doesn't mesh perfectly with 6th.

Soss wrote:It seems like the defender usually has the advantage in Planet Strike. Who would you think has more of an advantage?

Personally I think the Attackers usually have the advantage, especially depending on their army of choice (eg, Daemons and Blood Angels are murderous on the offensive). I mean, all they have to do is have a single model in base contact with an objective and they have it captured (no contesting in Planetstrike). Attackers also get some really brutal stratagems, the Defenders' are fairly tame imho. It should also be noted that Planetstrike games are intended to be flip-flopped, with 1 side playing Attacker and then in the next game they play the Defender to make things fair.

We're still waiting for 6th ed Vassal, right? Did you just run the generic dice and figure everything like you would have tabletop? How long were you averaging each turn?

Great bat rep. Possibilities with Vassal are really amazing.

Thanks for the great battle report.

How many points did the Forces of Order have left?

I'm always extra curious about battle reports where one side is getting completely tabled. Was is all due luck or what? Something must had gone really wrong since the Tau and Tyranids were completely annihilated.

Though the corrupted Space Marines of the Traitor Legions make excellent champions for the gods of Chaos, they are not pawns and have their own agendas of vengeance, empire-building vindication or arcane study which gives them purpose.

Yeah we just used Vassal 5.4F using the built-in dice rollers and rolling generic dice where needed. Early on, turns would be around an hour and a half to two hours, but by turn 5 they were about a half hour each (turns 4 onward took us about 3 hours to complete, whereas the turns before took up 8 1/2 hours ).

Hmm good question, I'll actually calculate that now...

*20 minutes later*

BA Forces: 1258pts (Surprisingly high. Probably because their units tended to be in assault or behind the front lines and didn't get shot up as a result, )
DA Forces: 653pts (Only the Tactical Squads were intact because of their bastions)
SW Forces: 1164pts (Mostly because they weren't on the table in force in the first couple turns, or were behind the front lines)
TOTAL Forces Remaining: 3075pts - so approximately half our army in terms of points, although this is partly because none of our Independent Characters were killed. As for why it ended up that way, I think there are a couple reasons. For one, in a game of this side, the victory tends to go to whoever can hammer their foe into submission first. It helps that we tended to have better luck in the game towards the turning point as well. I'm not sure how the enemy planned things, but I know the Forces of Order also had a clear plan going in and our lists were built to complement one another (eg, Dark Angels were the bulwark, Blood Angels were mobile assault, Space Wolves were counter-attack and support)

That's a good way of putting it.

I'd like to see which forces killed what in a body-count XD

Dammit, I realized I forgot to add my Imperial Guard units to my surviving total, that's an additional 400pts to my survivors... Anyway, here's my approximate body count by each player (I probably missed a unit or two admittedly):

ATTACKERS
Farsight: 3 Deathwing, 10 Assault Marines (1 Gunslinger Sergeant), 2 Assault Cannon Land Speeders, 2 Typhoon Land Speeders, 3 Ravenwing (1 plasma gun), 1 Long Fang, 2 BA Termies
TOTAL KILLED: 954pts

Tau: 1 ASM Gunslinger Sergeant, 6 Long Fangs (1 Sergeant), 1 ASM Melta sergeant, 7 ASM (1 meltagun), 1 Dual Melta Land Speeder, 1 Grey Hunter, 1 Ravenwing
TOTAL KILLED: 507pts

Tyranids: 2 Long Fangs, 15 Deathwing, 3 BA Termies, 4 Grey Hunters, 1 Vendetta
TOTAL KILLED: 1020pts

Additional: 5 Long Fangs (2 Sergeants), 1 Rhino, 1 Deathwing Termie
TOTAL KILLED: 183pts

DEFENDERS
Blood Angels: 30 Gargoyles, 3 Flyrants, 2 Devilfish, 16 Fire Warriors, 6 Missile Crisis Suits, 3 Broadsides, 10 Pathfinders, 6 Farsight Crisis Suits, Farsight, 2 Hive Guard, 1 Shas'o, 1 Hammerhead, 1 Shas'el
TOTAL KILLED: 2981pts (mostly from Sanguinary Priest Titus' squad and the Stormravens shooting down the Flyrants)

Dark Angels: 2 Trygons, 7 Plasma Crisis Suit (1 Shas'vre), 1 Shas'o, 2 Devilfish, 14 Pathfinders, 2 Broadsides
TOTAL KILLED: 1530pts

Space Wolves: 30 Gargoyles, 1 Fusion Crisis Suit, Doom of Malan'tai, Mawloc, 9 Fire Warriors, 4 Broadsides, 3 Plasma Crisis Suits, 2 Devilfish
TOTAL KILLED: 1304pts (Better than I thought )

Additional: 1 Mycetic Spore (Krak Attack)
TOTAL KILLED: 40pts

All-in-all, I guess that goes to show that each of our units were doing their jobs - the Dark Angels took the brunt of the attacks, the Blood Angels went on the offensive and the Space Wolves mopped up stragglers.

Thanks, it was quite the epic showdown. We're considering a rematch as well, so possibly stay tuned.

Yeah I'd like to give Aun Tier and 40k Pirate a chance to sock us back. I'll have to retool my list though of course.
