Greetings!

Just taking my first dable on Warhammer 40,000. I'd like to paint the Farseer and Warlock's helmet visors a tarnished silver. Any suggestions on doing that?

Thanks!

For a tarnished silver you may be able to do something akin to "heat" effects that some painters apply to weapon barrels.

Instead of shifting from grey-yellow-blue-silver

just try to replicate this color shift.

To me this looks like silver in recesses, dark copper / brown on flat ares, and a yellow hue between the two colors. Also note the teal/turquoise "highlighting" on some of the edges.

As a side note, I don't know why people complain about tarnished silver like this. I find the coloring to be fairly pleasing to the eye.

I was thinking more on the line of a dark silvery mirror... But now, you got me confused, 'cos I like the colors in the pic also...

There was a white dwarf with am eldar with a glass sword. Looked very cool. But we are probably speaking nonmetalic metal paint here.

Glass sword sounds sweet... but what about an obsidian sword...?

simply use a mixture between chainmail and mithril silver and color the area as if you were trying to nmm it.
i prefer going from bright on the button to darker on top and than adding a bright line or spot on top, which is even brighter than the brightest area at the bottom.
to achieve this i'd go for washing it with badap black before applying the last line on top.
you could also try to use the technique GW uses to paint their grey knights. they are using some sort of blue ink to egt the the cold steel effect.

Hello.

So, this is the planning as it goes... (Complete zero regarding posts, attached a pic, or tried to...)

Intend on going deep purple (no pun intended), and dark mettalic.

White areas are to be chosen...

A bronze pigment over boltgun might work really well for this...

I was thinking something like that... Maybe some drybrushing for a weathered look... For the eyes, "sash" and small "buttons" (or whatever), I would appreciate suggestions...

By the way, on a total unrelated subject (or almost), I read about Eldar Shadow Specters... But they seem to be from another company (GW)... How does that work?

The Shadow Spectres are from Forgeworld. The make resin add-on and complete model kits that (for the most part) are used for standard games from GW. I believe GW owns FW..?

Lucarikx

Edit: I like your color scheme.... a lot.

Is there a specific colour scheme for the Harlequins, or do you paint them according to your craftworld?
