Hi all,

It's been awhile since I uploaded any photos. I found myself spending more time taking and posting WIP pics than actually making and painting. I also needed a break to recharge the batteries.

Mechanicon 2012 is just around the corner and my current projects are nowhere near ready (Space Rangers & Knights of the Flaming Cheddar) so I broke out my old Tau. Because Mechanicon is only 1500 points this year I felt it was an excellent opportunity to finish a Farsight list. I only had to finish two Devilfish, a Hammerhead. and three Farsight Bodyguard. The list isn't finalized, but the following photos are the army as it currently stands.

Originally all the purple sections were covered with gloss varnish. I've since used satin varnish. The gloss caused actual light to be reflected and took away from the highlights.

The bodyguard are new additions. I've had the models assembled for a few years, but never got around to painting them until a couple of weeks ago.

The display board has a spot for a Broadside team when points totals are higher. So to cover the spots I made an insignia. It's about 7" diameter.

I have no illusions about winning many (if any) games. Like most of my armies they are significantly more about what I llike to model and paint than game usefulness

Thanks and please feel free to leave any comments, critiques, etc.

Take care and be well.

Love these, great scheme - the highlights are fantastic and really like the poses too.

Sort of rare to see them so high up due to LoS, but they look better. Nice to see the kick pose as well. I also like that blue on the black, might be a tad strong for a highlight but the effect it gives is nice regardless.

I love the techy lighting and the suit doing a flying kick

Thanks for sharing!

Apart from strange lighting in the photo's all models look really good! The blue light on the black of the vehicles looks really fantastic.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Great looking army. From my experience, a lot of the very fine detail work with highlighting can become lost on the tabletop. To alleviate this, more stark highlighting like you've done work very well. The color combinations work very well and makes this army really stand out. Thanks for sharing.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Yeah, they are a bit high
I built most of the army during fourth edition which had very, very different (and better) area terrain and LoS rules. I had just finished an Exodite army that was essentially monochrome and I wanted to highlight the black with something other than white.

I feel the highlights give the army more of a cartoony feel. Thanks for commenting.

My light box is currently disassembled and I didn't feel like putting it back together for just a couple photos
Thanks

How true. From three feet away many details are, at best, barely noticeable. Thanks and thank for commenting.

Awesome job sir, a unique color scheme to. The highlights contrast to the darkened area really well. Idk if it was your intention to make the dark areas look like a bit of wear and tear, or just darker. Either way looks great!

I will...never be a memory
