So i had an email from this webstore (even though i've never used it), and i decided to browse their items.

I had a scan through their 40k items and was amazed at 30% off offers on everything. This is the biggest discount i've seen, 25% being the previous highest.

You still have to pay shipping, £2 for items under £20 and to a UK address.

Anybody used this site? Note sure what to make of the discount. Part of me says nice, but there is a small part saying it could be a scam(?). Surely at 30% discount, they are making almost no profit?

It looks like they're something to do with "totalwargamer".
The postcode in the About Us points to the same place.
They have the same £1.99 shipping, too.

So you think we can trust them?

I have, however, used TotalWargamer - They must be sharing e-mail lists...

Iit's the same address as Total Wargamer. It could be a re-brand in order to include board games, or a re-organisation, such as that seen by Maelstrom recently.

You ar correct to say that at 30% discount they are making very little profit, but wafer thin margins is what happens when you are selling product mainly based on price and there's quite a bit of competition. At some stage we'll see a rationalisation in the number of web stores and gradual reduction in the level of discount seen.

I wasn't complaining about the discount. I was simply speculating that at such a low price for the items, it may have been a phising attempt.

But from what i've read here, it appears to be something to do with total wargamer. Who i've brought with before and everything was fine

Also received the email and have bought from total wargamer before, wonder if this is a way to distance themselves from the troubles they had over the last few months. Their facebook page basically turned into a complaints page for orders taking forever to show up.

I ordered from Mythreal on the 12th of this month and I haven't received my items yet.

When you pay using paypal your actually paying totalwargamer. The second I saw this my heart sank, its pretty obvious that I'll have to wait a while for my stuff now. That's if I dont get sick of waiting in the meantime and cancel my order again. The trouble is they hardly ever answer their phones (Ive tried 10 times during work hours, still no answer) and take days to respond to emails, so if I do decide to cancel it won't be easy.

Why sell under a different name? If so many people associate their company with bad service then maybe a new name will help boost sales. Thats my guess anyway.

The problem with a lot of these online stores is that they treat their suppliers as their warehouse.

The start up costs are small for them , they only order what is ordered and that is what causes a lot of the delays.

Also working on slim margins takes a special kind of set up in business, You need to be pumping out volume to make it work for you. Working on slim margins with low sales volumes is a recipe for disaster.

They are most certainly part of total wargamer as they both have the exact same contact number.

Surely the best way forward with this now, is to just move with a supplier that may only be 15-20% off, but at least it offers a better service and dispatch rate.

Wished I'd read this before ordering my birthday present (last month!).
Really narked now.

Usually just something borking up the DB, some incompetent/inappropriate update or whatever.
I hardly expect the TWG folks to do a runner with a related webstore; that'd be insane besides immoral
