Hey Dakka, have been working on an IG army for a few months, and thought that I should share some of what I have been working on so far. I don't really play, so my squads aren't really loaded out to be super effective, but I try to make them game legal. If you like it then I will try to update regularly, and also post some fluff.
@Valkyrie- How would you say that I could fix the bases? Should I go over them in black, or should I paint them some kind of brown?
@Lord of Timbraxia- Thanks alot. I like how the banner contrasts as well, I try to use blue as a spot colour to the green. For the squiggles i used one of the GW fine detail brushes.
By the way, I noticed that my flag is American, but I am from Canada. Does anyone know how I can change that?
Hey, I have been working hard over the last few days, and have painted all the rims of my bases brown. Thank you so much for that suggestion, it looks really good. I have a picture of the command squad with their new bases.
I also have moved my medic to a 40mm base, and am eventually going to add a casualty to it.
Lastly for the Command Squad I built up a MOO, who will be getting some sort of backpack eventually.
And finally i have started working on a veteran squad with shotguns, and here are the first two.
I'll try to add some fluff in the next few days and also add some of my other veterans so be watching.

Specialty: Siege, Mechanized Infantry with vehicle support
Area of Operation: Segmentum Obscurus
Popular Units: Hellhound's, Griffons, Chimeras, Flamers, Leman Russ Demolisher and Eradicator Variants, Medusa's, Manticore's, Hellhammer's
Ranking System: The Orion 17th has two commanding officers, both entitled as Lieutenant-Colonels, one whom is in charge of the infantry and another who is in charge of the tanks. After the Lieutenant-Colonels come the Colonels and the Lieutenant. Colonels are support officers (IE, Tank Commanders, Masters of Ordinance, Tech Priests, Primaris Psykers, Recon Commander, Commissars), while Lieutenants are in direct command of the different infantry companies. Next come the sergeants, who are in direct control of infantry squads, and then privates who are the rank and file troopers.
And a little individual fluff:
Spoiler:
Colonel Hermes crouched behind a rock, viewing the Ork citadel from afar. It was a large, ugly affair, built completely from scrap metal and anything else that the savages could get their hands on. Guns bristled from every direction, from small stubbers to large cannons and in the very center of the citadel, on top of some sort of super-heavy tank that vaguely resembled a baneblade chassis, stood a titanic mortar. Hundreds of Orks walked around the outside of the building. "Hermes, do you copy?" came the voice of Lieutenant-Colonel Aurelius in Hermes ear.
"Yes I copy, I am in place, and can see the citadel, sir." he replied.
"How many Orks are there?"
"I can see hundreds guarding from outside of the walls, and probably thousands more inside, sir. There is also a large mortar inside, that if allowed to fire upon us could reek havoc. We may need to take it out with a bombardment before we move in."
"Okay, can you and your men test their capabilities with a little skirmish, before we move in with full force?"
"Right away, sir," replied Hermes.
Hermes stood up from behind the rock and ran down a small gravel hill to where most of his recon company waited for him. Three Salamanders and six sentinels idled as they waited for him. "Okay boys, we're going in for a short testing attack, something that we've all done before okay. the Salamanders and sentinels go in full speed, maximum firepower, and then we get out of there okay. Lets go." The men turned from where they were all sitting and mounted in their vehicles. a pilot in every sentinel and five soldiers and a driver in every salamander. Hermes walked over to the one Salamander with only four soldiers, and got in with them.
I've finished the first two heavy weapons for my veterans squad, a missile launcher and a heavy flamer. the last three in this squad probably won't be finished until after Christmas, and there will be two flamers and a Cadian-style Sergeant Harker.
I finished the first two guardsmen for my second infantry squad:
I had a little bit of an accident: (Could be a little gross so I put it in spoilers)
Spoiler:
And I wrote a little more fluff;
Orion 17th:
The Orion 17th is one of the Imperium's most successful and specialized siege regiments. They move from battlefield to battlefield, usually helping other regiments or other imperial force to break into a particularly well defended fortress. They are almost never used for anything else, being viewed as too valuable to be squandered on other battlefields. Because they are such an "in and out" force, they spend much of their time traveling, and have a small fleet assigned to them. Their main battle-cruiser was specially formatted to have an immense theater, able to project fictitious, holographic fortresses for the members of the 17th to train on. The Orion 17th is unique in the fact that they don't spend all of their time training, and are assigned two hours of every day to practice the arts, whther it be painting, sculpting, music or another of their liking. They are also encouraged to use organized sports as a kind of training, and have been seen playing soccer, hockey and football. While getting them in shape, these activities increase moral, loyalty and brain strength in the troops. These things are all factors in the Orion 17th's success.
Thanks for reading, I would really appreciate if somebody replied, lol!

Thanks! I should have two chimeras coming in the mail soon, and a baneblade will be following closely behind it. I'm waiting on those kits to finish my Marbo conversion and a tech priest conversion! Stay tooned.
I got my chimeras and my baneblade. Pre-painting pictures of one chimera and my hellhammer follow:
I also finished up work on some characters:
Lord Commissar Atlas Conversion:
He is made using the tank commander body from the baneblade kit.
Techpriest Hephaestus Conversion:
I used the torso and legs from the Cadian kit, bionic leg from a necron warrior, backpack is the vox-caster from the Cadian kit, the multi-melta and servo arm are from the SM devastator kit, the hammer powerbox, servo-skull, stomach plate, light and sensor are from the Grey Knights terminators, the head and hammer-head are from the baneblade and his arms are from the Cadian command squad.
Guardsmen Marbo (Lieutenant Hermes) Conversion:
The body and arms are from the Cadian box, the head is from the Chimera kit and the backpack is from the heavy weapons kit.
Medic (Sergeant Asclepius) and Casualty:
Casualty is built using the tank commander from the chimera, and the grenade arm and head from the Cadian kit. Still needs some work on the shoulder pad.
Nice stuff, I see a chimera vox on the MoO's pack. It's great to see that you're highlighting your guardsmen, as I personally haven't bothered on mine
My only criticism is that the commissar looks like a character from Tron
Great work
That's a pretty ballsy medic, letting a casualty hold onto a grenade while treating him, haha.
Nice models so far though. I like the color scheme.
Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?
